The second match for teams in Group B is going to take place on Wednesday June 13th and it features some exciting matchups. Netherlands versus Germany is going to be a huge game strictly because there is a lot at stake. Germany is sitting pretty after a 1-0 victory over Portugal but the Netherlands are still basking in their shock as they fell to Denmark 1-0 in their opening match. To be honest, this match is pretty even as far as talent and team chemistry goes, but the Netherlands need a result, and not just any result, they need a win.
Like they tried to do in the first match, the Netherlands will rely heavily on their men up top by the names of Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder. These two men are amongst the most formidable strikers in the business and it is just as shocking to fans as it is to observers how well the Danish defense was able to bottle these two guys up. If we are being honest the rest of the Dutch squad looks fit and healthy and is fit and healthy, now they just need to begin to perform as such. Mark Van Bommel and Nigel De Jong hold down the midfield and they are going to have to step their game up and make things even more fluid for the attackers up top. The Netherlands lost to Denmark and are now facing an opponent that might as well be 3 Denmarks because Germany is far and away better than the Dnaish. It will be interesting to see if the Dutch make any drastic changes to their side or simply stick to the gameplan and try to take advantage of some of the chances that they missed in game 1.
Mario Gomez was the hero for Germany in their Group B opener against Portugal and while he is just one of many in the attacking corps, he is going to be looking to add to his goal tally. Gomez isn’t the only player looking to take advantage of chances in front of net, the other German attackers such as Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos, and Mesut Ozil will all be looking to get their name on the score sheet. All around, Germany looks to be one of the strongest sides in the tournament, and after seeing the first match’s results it may not look like it, they are going to be facing a Netherlands team that many anticipated to make a deep run in this tournament. This game could make or break Germany as a team. One win is impressive in group play, but two victories could solidify their spot in the knockout round.
Bovada.lv has Germany as the favorite in this match as they currently sit at +130 on the moneyline. The Dutch are getting the raw end of the deal on this one and they are sitting at +210 on the moneyline. A draw is currently being tallied at +240.
In my honest opinion I think that the Germans will pull off yet another victory. The Netherlands did not look like they team that people talked about prior to Euros and to me they do not look like a squad that even believes in themselves. The Germans are a solid team through and through and barring any major mistakes I think they should beat the Dutch by at least a 1 or 2 goal margin.
Pick: Germany to win (+130)
