In the only match of the day in Serie A, Juventus and Lecce meet with a lot up for grabs. On one side, we have Lecce who are doing everything in their power to avoid relegation. The bottom-3 clubs in Serie A get relegated. As it stands now, Lecce are third-worst in Italy with a record of 4-7-14 and 35 points. They are coming off a 4-1 loss against AC Milan on June 22. Given the serious situation they’re in right now trying to get out of relegation, that was a really bad effort against AC Milan.
Genoa and Lecce are both tied with 25 points, so it isn’t time to just give up, though. Having said that, Lecce has a daunting task against Juventus on Friday. This isn’t the club they wanted to see after getting blasted by an okay AC Milan team. The hits are going to keep coming for Lecce, too. They have Lazio on the schedule coming up in two weeks. Sampdoria in their next match is a game that they absolutely have to play well in, though. That’s a winnable game where 3 points would really help.
As far as Friday is concerned, a tie would be considered a major accomplishment for Lecce. For that to happen, it’s likely going to require Juventus to fall asleep and fail to show up focused at Allianz Stadium. Juventus are coming off a textbook win over Bologna by a score of 2-0. It was a much needed performance by Juve who slipped up versus Napoli in the Coppa Italia. They lost in penalties in a shocker to lose the tournament. The club was able to quickly forget about it and get their offence going.
Their win over Bologna was their first Serie A match since March 8. That was an easy 2-0 win against Inter Milan before the league was locked down because of Covid-19. They just didn’t come to play in the Coppa Italia after returning to action, but the rust might be gone now. Ronaldo and Sarri had a meeting to discuss their differences and the offensive issues before the match against Bologna. With a 2-0 win, Juve were able to get back on track and look like themselves. A sloppy performance versus Lecce would put an end to that momentum, though. Head below for our free Juventus vs. Lecce pick for June 26, 2020 in Serie A.
Juventus vs. Lecce Serie A Betting Odds:
Juventus vs. Lecce Prediction:
Ronaldo scored on a penalty kick to get Juventus on the board against Bologna at the 23 minute mark. He probably should have had another goal. but put a ball just wide of the post on a glorious opportunity later in the match. Paulo Dybala struck at the 36 mark to put Juve up 2-0. I think if Juve were in mid-season form instead of recently coming off a layoff, that could have easily been a 4-0 final score versus Bologna.
With an extra match under their belt, and back at home, expect a crisper performance from Ronaldo and his squad on Friday. They have played like an unstoppable force at Allianz Stadium in 2019-20 during the Serie A campaign. Juve has netted 2.38 goals per match as opposed to just 0.77 goals conceded. They have a terrific chance today to put a nice wedge between them and Lazio.
Juventus head into Friday with a record of 21-3-3 and 66 points. That has them 4 points up on Lazio with 11 matches left to be played in Serie A competition. 3 more points for Juve would give Lazio an uphill battle towards the Serie A title. Lecce should struggle on the road in this one. They’ve netted 1.15 goals and conceded 2.31 goals per match in an opposing stadium in the Serie A 2019-20 campaign. Lecce has injury concerns going into Friday.
Four contributors including Antonin Barak, Cristian Dell’Orco, Diego Farias, and Alessandro Deiola are all on the shelf. Gianluca Lapadula will attempt to give it a go, but is dealing with a leg injury. If Juventus are motivated to play on Friday, they should be rewarded with a 4-1 or 3-0 win. I got on Juventus at +104 earlier in the week, but still fine with the current price at -111. The Old Lady continue their rise back to top form with a standout performance at home on Friday.
