The Premier League continues to roll with many consecutive days of action. Tuesday features another intriguing double-header, kicking things off with a fascinating clash between Leicester and Brighton.
Though both sides are on opposite ends of the table, there is still much to play for down the stretch. The Foxes, headed by Brendan Rodgers, currently sit third in the league table, but know that they’ll need to finish their campaign strong if they want to secure a coveted Champions League berth. With Manchester United and Tottenham all charging hard, the points are crucial.
For Brighton, they secured a surprising but impressive victory over the weekend against Arsenal. That victory gave them some breathing room in terms of the relegation battle, though they aren’t safe just yet. Brighton has a gruelling finish to their season, filled with many tough matches – away to Leicester is just one of them. The Seagulls are going to need to keep securing surprise results in order to avoid getting dragged into the drop zone.
With that said, it is clear points are crucial in this matchup. Continue reading beneath BetOnline’s posted odds for a tactical analysis, game preview, and betting prediction. Leicester vs. Brighton Pick:
For Leicester City, there seems to be some unrest within their camp. They didn’t enter the pandemic pause in that great of form, and their first match back against Watford had to be immensely disappointing. A 90th minute goal should’ve secured a victory for them, but they allowed Watford to tie the match moments later. Having three points so rapidly turn into one has to be crushing. They have a knack of playing down to their opposition, and it is a trend that needs to be reversed.
In terms of team news, don’t expect too many changes for either side, despite the short turnaround. Neither squad has the impressive depth of some of the bigger clubs in England, and with points being so valuable in the final few games – both managers will need their key pieces.
Expect the Foxes to lineup in an attacking and fluid 4-4-2 and really look to take the game to Brighton. They’ve been solid at the back with Soyuncu and Ben Chilwell, while up front they possess a ton of speed and attacking options that could and should trouble Brighton’s back-line.
Jamie Vardy is in solid form and his pace will give the Seagulls’ defense fits, while midfielder James Maddison should be able to win balls and provide quality service forward. It’s also expected that speedy winger Demari Gray will feature for Leicester. He came on as a substitute over the weekend and instantly impressed.
Brighton were a tad fortunate to score two goals in quick succession to win vs. Arsenal. They typically don’t have that explosive attack, and regardless – those same tricks won’t work on a well-organized Leicester team. Brighton have also been brutal away from home, collecting only six of 24 possible points against top-table teams on the road.
Pick: Leicester 3-0
