Following a brief hiatus, the EPL picks are back at it here at The Sports Geek. It’s tough staying in a rhythm with all of the random breaks the Premier League takes – especially with the upcoming World Cup and all of the qualifying fixtures associated with that tournament.
Still, there’s money to be made on this exciting league and though we have received a mixed-bag of results thus far in 2017, Saturday’s Week 6 action is sure to entice.
Today’s featured match comes in a bit later than the rest – with a kickoff time of 12:30 PM Eastern as Leicester City welcome Liverpool in what should be a thrilling affair with goals galore. The Foxes of Leicester certainly have not gotten off to the start they had envisioned. They’ve been poor on defense and though they have speed and skill up front, it’s not earning them results at the moment. For Liverpool, really it is the same formula. They lost to this Leicester side on Tuesday, bowing out of the League Cup. Their backline is shaky and they enter Week 6 sitting a dismal 8th in the table. For a side with to-4 aspirations, they know they need to be better.
This match-up should be a great way to wrap up a thrilling Saturday of EPL action. Both sides need a victory, but it’s likely the one who makes the better adjustments that will leave victorious. Read on below for a game breakdown and a betting prediction for this highly anticipated match.

Leicester City vs. Liverpool Pick:
As Liverpool prepares for their second trip to take on Leicester City in a span of five days, they’ll certainly be looking for a better result in the League on Saturday afternoon. They dropped a poorly played 2-0 result in the Carabao Cup competition on Tuesday night, mainly because their defensive structure and play was so woeful. Head coach Jurgen Klopp is well aware of their deficiencies and has worked all week to prepare the Reds for another match against the speedy Foxes of Leicester.
Liverpool might catch a huge break in this contest however, as Jamie Vardy was forced off in last week’s match at Huddersfield. He’s said to be battling a sore groin, and even if he does factor into the lineup – you have to wonder about his effectiveness, especially because Vardy’s main draw is his speed.
Without Sadio Mane for the Reds, look for Klopp to rely on strong midfield play of Philippe Coutinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The latter moved from Arsenal at the end of the transfer window, and possesses the kind of speed and power that can do damage against Leicester City’s weak central midfielders.
Liverpool might just be the top attacking side in all of the Premier League, but it’s been their defense that has let them down. With Klopp’s changes to structure and personnel on the backline, look for the skill of Liverpool to take over. Leicester still seemingly gets overpriced on the market because they miraculously won the League two years prior. That’s old news and look for the skill of Liverpool to win out on Saturday.
On Tuesday night, the Reds were unlucky – thoroughly dominating chances and possession. And while I doubt they do enough on defense to keep a clean sheet, they can outscore most teams – especially Leicester City who are currently in just as questionable of form. Emre Can is slated to return from injury and that should only bolster the strength and possession of the Reds. The new look in central defense of Klavan and Joe Gomez should pump new life into that backline, and Klopp knows his side needs three points in this game. Expect Liverpool to silence the doubters with a comfortable 3-1 victory on the exact score-line.
PICK = Liverpool to win (-110)
