Manchester United vs. Norwich City FA Cup Pick – June 27

One of soccer’s most prestigious tournaments will return on Saturday as England’s FA Cup resumes. Today’s featured showdown will see Manchester United travel to Norwich to battle the Canaries. With uncertainty surrounding Norwich’s future in the top flight, and whether or not Man United can get to the Champions League – both clubs will surely be placing added emphasis on their remaining FA Cup run.

Manchester United are coming off an impressive Premier League victory midweek against Sheffield United, following an Anthony Martial hat-trick. The French striker is finally finding his form, and with the Red Devils starting to play to their potential, they won’t be an easy out for any of their opposition down the stretch.

For Norwich, they keep turning in disappointing outings and as a result will quite likely go down in the Premier League. A surprising result given their dominating form from last year’s Championship – but this is a group that needs to alter their playing style. Now, Daniel Farke’s side has put all of their eggs into the FA Cup basket, and this clash should represent one of their most important for the duration of this season.

With the Premier League trophy already decided with weeks to play, look for other tournaments to take on higher importance – the FA Cup being at the top of that list for both these clubs. Look for an exciting encounter and one in which both managers aren’t afraid to play their full complement of first-teamers. It should produce a great match on Saturday, and we’ve got your betting needs covered. Read on beneath the posted odds for a matchup breakdown, tactical analysis, and betting prediction for this FA Cup showdown between Manchester United and Norwich City.

Man United vs. Norwich City Pick:

Expect Norwich City to put all of their efforts into this competition and this showdown vs. Man United. Without fans, it won’t be easy, but without fresh injury concerns, manager Daniel Farke will have pretty close to a fully healthy group as they take on Man United.

It isn’t going to be easy for the Canaries though. In two Premier League matches against Man U this season, they’ve lost by a total scoreline of 7-1, and have shown very little in those matches. It’s also worth noting that Man U are quite likely much better from when these teams first met, while Norwich have looked lost in recent competitions.

Look for the Canaries to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with them really having a go at the Man Utd back-line. Teemu Pukki and Patrick Cantwell provide a pretty solid attacking punch, and that duo should be able to make United think twice. The issue for Norwich however has been within their defense and midfield. They cannot keep goals out, and they don’t have strong enough service to their strikers. Look for United to be able to exploit that.

On the other side of the pitch, Man United don’t have any fresh injury concerns of their own, but their impressive squad depth gives manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the ability to bring in some fresh bodies for rotational purposes.

In the midfield, Scott McTominay and Fred should prove to be absolute workhorses and control this match from the outset for the Red Devils. They’ll win balls on the field and in the air, providing stellar service to the impressive Odion Ighalo. We haven’t seen much of Ighalo for Man United this year, but when he’s been on he has been stellar, finding the back of the net at impressive rates.

While it might not necessarily be the strongest or most familiar United lineup to take the pitch on Saturday, don’t be scared to back their reserves. Their quality still far exceeds what Norwich can offer, and by all accounts the Red Devils are still putting a real emphasis on this competition. They need to find a way to European football next season. Expect the Man U back-line to limit Norwich’s chances, and Odion Ighalo should continue his impressive form and torment a weakened Canaries’ defense. A comfortable and business-like Man U victory seems likely in this round of the FA Cup.

Pick: 2-0 Manchester United
