Manchester United vs. Spurs EPL Betting Predictions – October 17, 2020

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has had a pretty rough start to the new 20/21 Premier League season. At the moment, they are in the fourteenth place with four points from three matches. On the other hand, Arsenal has nine points in four matches, and are currently sitting in the fourth spot, just below Leicester, Aston Villa, and Everton. Manchester City vs. Arsenal betting predictions is what we’re here for today, and we’ll make sure we dig out all crucial facts that’ll help us snatch some value.

However, if you’re yet to place your first-ever soccer bet, the following section ought to help keep you from falling into the well-known soccer betting traps.

Most Common Soccer Betting Mistakes 101

Disregarding Home Turf Advantage

Home turf advantage is a big thing in soccer. The home team always has one big plus to their gameplay, driven by their home supporters as well as their own stadium. Home supporters aren’t a thing at the moment, but home turf advantage shouldn’t be taken for granted. Even though it’s not as prominent as it was last year, before the whole pandemic thing, it’s still fairly important.

Blindly Trusting the Favorites

Favorites are favorites for a reason. They typically have much better rosters or are in better form than the underdogs. However, odds on favorites are never good. They’re usually viable only for accumulators – you won’t have much profit with them on singles. The thing is, favorites don’t win all the time. When they make a mistake, whether it’s a draw or a loss, you’ll feel it! That said, it’s best to avoid blindly trusting the favorites. The value just isn’t there!

Not Digging Deep Enough

There’s always value… if you’re stubborn and thorough enough to find it. I’m not talking about match-winners here… I’m talking about numerous soccer betting specials that are widely available on most online bookmakers. Dig through the stats, invest a lot of time in pre-match research and you’ll be alright!

Manchester City vs. Arsenal Betting Predictions

With that out of our way, let’s focus on Manchester City vs. Arsenal betting predictions!

Pep’s Problems Continue

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were, alongside Liverpool, the main favorites to win the Premier League ahead of the first matchday last month. However, fast-forward to today, and they’re not looking very well. They are in the fourteenth place at the moment; true, with a match to play, but four points in three matches don’t breathe in title winner vibes… especially after those five goals conceded against Leicester.

The arrivals of Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake were supposed to bring new life into City’s lowly defense… but seven conceded goals in three matches tell a different tale. I’m not saying Ake and Dias are bad players, I’m just saying they haven’t adapted properly yet. They still might sync up. Heck, they didn’t even have a chance to start together yet.

Pep is going through problems on the attacking end too. Gabriel Jesus is doing his part, but his team isn’t getting enough momentum in the final third… which is weird knowing KDB’s attacking vision. They’ll need to turn things around against Arsenal and come to a much-needed win that would catapult them to the top half of the table.

Key Players

Who’s been City’s key player thus far? Well, even though statistically Gabriel Jesus is the best-rated City player, he’s played only 90 Premier League minutes thus far… which is why I have point Kevin De Bruyne out as the key man. One goal, one assist, and one man of the match award for the brilliant Belgian – not a bad start, right?

Please Note:

Unfortunately, there’s a chance KDB misses the Arsenal clash. The same goes for Sterling and Gabriel Jesus. Aguero is back in action, but Pep already mentioned that the Argentinian striker will need more time to get up to full speed.

However, as stated earlier, Pep’s biggest problem at the moment is his shaky defensive line. He doesn’t lack defensive talents; he just can’t seem to match a good partnership. A good mix and mash will be crucial… the only question is – will the Spaniard be able to solve the defensive puzzle before the Arsenal match?

Tactical Approach

Pep isn’t your typical one-lineup-for-all kind of manager. He likes to experiment with tactical approaches, often switching between more attacking 4-3-3, and a more all-around 4-2-3-1 formation. His 4-3-3, at times, doesn’t even have a true attacker. Mahrez seems to be an option Pep wants to see more of, but I don’t think it’s a viable strategy in the long run. The same goes for the upcoming match against Arsenal – he’ll need Gabriel Jesus up front to create havoc, and even Sterling to try and exploit stuff near the touchline.

Welcome To the Partey

Thomas Partey is a gunner! Yep, Arsenal has finally shown a bit of rudeness on the transfer market, stealing Atletico Madrid’s defensive midfielder with some attitude. The €50m signing will hope for a partey right off the bat, and the occasion couldn’t be more thrilling. A match against Manchester City to prove his worth, talk about a dreamy debut!

Arsenal is currently in fourth place with three wins and one defeat (3-1 against Liverpool). They’ve scored eight goals thus far but conceded five. In contrast, Aston Villa is eleven and two – talk about excellent form, huh?

Key Players

Thus far, the Frenchmen Alexandre Lacazette is Arsenal’s top scorer and arguably the most important player. Willian is proving to be a worthy addition for Arteta’s squad, having already accumulated two Premier League assists and a MotM award.

However, the 22-year-old Brazilian prodigy Gabriel Magalhaes, is turning out to be Arsenal’s best purchase this year. He has played three full matches, making his presence known with great play reading and excellent interceptions. The combination of Partey and Gabriel might give Arsenal an extra boost in the center of their defensive line.

Tactical Approach

We’re not ready to draw concrete Manchester City vs. Arsenal betting predictions just yet! We’re yet to talk about Arsenal’s tactics, so let’s start working on that right away…

Mikel Arteta still trusts his extremely aggressive 3-4-3, with Holding, Gabriel, and Kolasinac in the back (for the most part). He has a ton of pace on the wings, and his central midfielders are known for having a good footing on and off the ball. The arrival of Partey will definitely add an extra level of security, and could even turn Arteta’s two classic midfielders into a defensive and an attacking option. You’ve heard it here first, fellas!

Wrapping Things Up

Even though It’s likely that City will be lacking several key players, they’re still considered as the favorites. Pretty heavy favorites too, at roughly -220ish on the top soccer betting sites. While I do think City has the upper hand against Arsenal, I wouldn’t bet my money on them. It’s just too risky.

Instead, I think we can find value in the good old both teams to score wager! At -167, that’s probably the best option for everyone who doesn’t like taking too much risk. Both teams will come into this match wanting to score goals… and both are likely to do so. I’m expecting a proper goal fest with nothing but fast-paced action close to the touchline. Pacey wingers, classy midfielders, and ruthless attackers – that’s what this match is going to be all about!

The Bet
Both teams to score
