The Danish Superliga, like many other football leagues in Europe, have recently restarted their seasons. The biggest of all, the Bundesliga in Germany, has been playing for a couple of weeks now. There are more heavyweights ready to join the party with the Premier League and La Liga are expected to begin playing in June.
Spain was one of the hardest hit countries during the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s quite impressive that they’re getting ready to play again. Meaning in the US, the major sports are moving at a snail’s pace in getting an official date put together for a return. The NHL has been the most proactive in setting something up, while the NBA is holding a player’s vote on Thursday.
The MLB has been the worst offender. There hasn’t been as much bickering over money in the NBA and NHL. As far as MLB is concerned, or the way I see it at least, is that this is more of a money issue than anything else. I don’t believe it takes too much common sense to see it that way. They’re just trying to get their season underway, as spring training was being played when everything was halted.
With regard to the Denmark Superliga, they were in the midst of their season when everything stopped. That was the case with the majority of European football leagues. The one that kept pressing forward was in Belarus. The Belarusian Premier League kept playing and allowed fans to attend matches. I haven’t digged too deep, but it doesn’t appear that they had many issues. When you ignore the problem, there can’t be a problem at all, I guess.
In our Monday Denmark Superliga pick, two clubs that are trying to avoid the Relegation Round will meet. It looks like a foregone conclusion for Hobro at this point. There isn’t much maneuvering out of their record of 2-13-9. Picking up draws has been where they’ve had most of their success.
With only 2 wins on the season, Hobro are likely going to be fighting to stay in the Superliga. On the other side, Randers are the first club out of the Championship Round. This is an incredibly important match for them on Monday. They’re 3 points behind AaB. If things remain as they are now, Randers will be in the relegation round as well. Head below for our free Randers vs. Hobro pick in the Denmark Superliga for June 1, 2020.
Randers FC vs. Hobro IK Danish Superliga Betting Odds:
Randers FC vs. Hobro IK Prediction:
Randers is hosting Hobro at Cepheus Park for this matchup. Both clubs are playing their 25th match of the season. Hobro has essentially been playing for draws this season. They’re not strong enough to do much else. With only 2 wins versus 13 draws on the season for Hobro, they’ve just been hanging in there to make games competitive enough for their opponents.
That’s not good enough and they’re destined to play in the relegation stage. Hobro will have to do something about their offence in the offseason for improvements to be made. They are scoring at an abysmal pace with just 0.92 goals scored per match. Defensively, Hobro has conceded 1.38 goals per match.
Hobro returned from the break last week with a 1-1 draw against Viborg in a club friendly. It’s the third straight draw for Hobro. They have registered draws of 1-1, 1-1, and 0-0 in their previous three outings. Prior to that, they were 2-0 losers against Midtjylland. They haven’t won since a 2-0 win over Fredericia on February 6, and that was a friendly. Expect Hobro to find it difficult to find room to operate against Randers on the road in this contest.
Their usual suspect offence should be on full display once again. Rangers have conceded just 0.92 goals per match at home in the 2019-20 Superliga. Randers are coming off a 1-1 draw against AGF in their first match back to the Superliga since the shutdown. I could see a 2-0 in favor of Randers or a 1-1 draw here. With that in mind, the best option in this game appears to be on the UNDER.
