Real Esteli vs. Juventus Managua Pick – Nicaragua Liga Primera April 8, 2020

Real Esteli registered a “good” tie on the road against Managua on April 1. That was a battle of heavyweights between Real Esteli and Managua, the top two teams in the Liga Primera in Nicaragua. Real Esteli weren’t having much success on the road at Managua before that match, so getting a tie and a point out of the meeting wasn’t a bad deal. However, the letdown came in their next outing, as they suffered a bad loss against Walter Ferretti.

That isn’t a bad club, though they are the more talented team and should have been able to handle Walter Ferretti. It was a touch stretch for Real Esteli after having to play Managua just a few days earlier. Managua are a club that can wear their opponents out and make them work hard. Real Esteli were up to the task, but were surprised against Walter Ferretti on Sunday.

Having said that, it isn’t like Real Esteli fell over and allowed Walter Ferretti to pound them into submission. In fact, Real Esteli were in control of that match. The most important statistic on the scoreboard is the only thing that Walter Ferretti won. It’s the only aspect of the game that matters, the final score. Note that Real Esteli controlled the time of possession with 63% to 37% and they put more shots on target. Real Esteli recorded 11 shots, while Walter Ferretti was able to just 3 times, though one of them found the back of the net.

Real Esteli will have to cut back on the fouls today, though. Walter Ferretti committed just 11 fouls and Real Esteli were undisciplined with 24 fouls. That also carried over to offsides, where Real Esteli were offside 5 times compared to just once for Walter Ferretti. Real Esteli must clean up their game and they should be fine on Wednesday. They look to avoid another upset against Juventus Managua today. Head below for our free Real Esteli vs. Juventus Managua pick.

Real Esteli vs. Juventus Managua Prediction:

Juventus just got a blueprint of what will beat Real Esteli. That blueprint involves Real Esteli beating themselves. If they took care of the basics against Walter Ferretti, we’re likely talking about another win. In any event, Real Esteli is still sitting pretty with a record of 8-3-3 and 27 points. Having said that, avoiding the mental lapse against Walter Ferretti would have put them in a tie with Managua right now for the top spot. They also wouldn’t be in a two-way tie for 2nd with Diriangen.

In any event, they’re in a much better position than the 4-4-6 Juventus Managua, who are going to need a hot run down the stretch to reach the playoffs. Juventus have been as average as you can get in the Liga Primera, as they own a -1 goal differential on the season. That was aided by their 3-0 win over Diriangen on Saturday. This was after they lost by a combined score of 6-0 against Chinandega and Municipal Jalapa, two pretty bad losses for Juventus that might be the difference between the playoffs and no playoffs. Juventus have netted 1.24 goals per match, and conceded 1.18 a match in 2020.

That’s not too bad, but things do take a turn for the worse on the road where they go from not bad to awful. Juventus have scored only 0.59 goals per match and conceded 1.59 per match on the road in 2020. It’s been the complete opposite at home, but they won’t have that luxury Wednesday. Real Esteli have been a strong club at home, as they’ve scored 1.95 goals per game, while allowing just 0.47 goals per match. Overall they’ve been rock solid as well, but have really excelled at home. Juventus took a 2-0 loss in their last meeting against Real Esteli on the road. I think they can get on the board, but it likely won’t be sufficient enough. Look for a 2-1 win in favour of Real Esteli.
