Real Sociedad vs. Real Madrid Pick – La Liga June 21, 2020

Real Madrid put on a marvelous performance against Valencia in their most recent performance, as they ousted their opponent by a score of 3-0. Valencia were able to hang in early, but a Karim Bezema goal at 61 minutes busted everything open for Real Madrid.

They went on to score a couple of more goals, including a phenomenal Bezema finish at the 86 minute mark. It was an elite strike by Bezema as he quieted his doubters to put Real Madrid up by 3 goals. The floodgates busted open and Real Madrid took advantage of the opportunity.

It was an impressive win for Real, as they sent out a loud message to Barcelona. The next day Barca didn’t hold up their end of the deal, as they tied vs Sevilla by a score of 0-0. They missed a glorious chance to hold Real Madrid at bay, and now Barca could be in even more trouble if Real bring their top form to the pitch on Sunday. With 3 full points today against Real Sociedad, Madrid and Barca will be in a tie at the top of the table.

Real Sociedad would love nothing more than to take the attention off Zidane and his men, though. Barca would undoubtedly send them a thank you package if this fixture goes the way of Real Sociedad. Homefield advantage is on the side of Sociedad.

Despite no fans at the games, heading on the road and winning in another environment is a difficult task. In any event, Sociedad are likely playing for a draw on Sunday evening. That’d feel like a win for them and a loss for Real Madrid.

It’s not that Real Sociedad are a bad club, though. If they catch Bezema and company napping, an upset could ensue at Reale Arena. They are coming off a bad 2-0 loss on the road versus Alaves on Thursday. Sociedad didn’t put one ball on target, while Alaves connected for 7 shots with 2 of them going into the back of the net.

With the quick turnaround for Sociedad, they have to quickly put that performance into the waste bin and come out with a new attitude against Real Madrid. Another effort like that and they can forget about a win or draw here. Head below for our free Real Sociedad vs. Real Madrid pick for June 21, 2020 in La Liga.

Real Sociedad vs. Real Madrid Prediction:

Putting a ball on target would be a good step in the right direction after getting handled by Alaves. Alaves are a 9-8-12 club with 35 points, while Real Sociedad are 14-5-10 and 47 points. In other words, that was a winnable match that no one was prepared for. In their first match break since the shutdown, they took a draw against Osasuna at home. Even that performance right there wasn’t spectacular for Real Sociedad.

They were at home against an inferior opponent and couldn’t capitalize. Some clubs are impacted differently during the league lockdown, and Real Sociedad are still trying to shark off the rust. They’re most recent win was on March 20 against Eibar, 2-1. Eibar are 7-8-15 so that would have been a bad loss or draw. Prior to that match, Real Sociedad were 1-0 losers against Barcelona.

Real Madrid and Real Sociedad met on November 23, 2019 in La liga, with Real Madrid making it look easy in a 3-1 victory. Real Madrid were constantly pressuring and racked up 17 shots. In their previous match in the Copa del Rey, Real Sociedad were prepared and wanted to play. They were rewarded for it with a 4-3 win over sleepy Real Madrid. That might have been a case of Real Madrid going into the contest unorganized without any motivation.

While Real Sociedad have not looked good in a draw and loss versus two beatable clubs, Real Madrid have returned from the layoff playing with a purpose. They’ve won by a combined score of 6-1 over Valencia and Eibar. Real Sociedad should be able to put up more of a fight, but it will be difficult to slow down a determined Real Madrid squad. They look like a team on a mission and can get into a tie atop the table in La Liga with a win. That will be the motivation they need for a 2-1 or 3-1 win on Sunday.
