The Belarusian Premier League is back with an action packed Saturday with four matches on the docket. The day will get started around 7:00 a.m. EST in North America. Rukh Brest and Minsk will get the day started at FC Minsk Stadium. Sports are trickling back in some areas of the world, notably Asian baseball with the CPBL playing regular season games, and the KBO planning on beginning in early May.
However, there’s one league that hasn’t postponed or has to restart anything. The Belarusian Premier League continues to plough forward without any protocol changes to the league. With that I mean fans have been permitted to access stadiums. The attendance is way down, but if you want to go, there are no restrictions banning fans.
You are going to get arguments from both sides of the coin. There are plenty of people in Belarus that disagree with president Alexander Lukashenko’s assessment, so his opinion isn’t a total representation of the population. Some players have raised the issue that they’re a bit nervous about playing, but it’s their job to play football and they’re sticking through it.
That has to impact the mindset of some players. The fact that BATE Borisov started so slow, might be a reflection of that, but BATE looked like their normal selves finally in their most recent match. It was the first time this season that we saw BATE look like a fearful opponent in the Premier League schedule in 2020.
Rukh Brest is off to a mediocre start in four matches played. They’re 1-1-2 with 4 points going into their fifth match of the season. They got promoted to the Premier League from the First League, so there could be a bit of a learning curve for them. Minsk finished the 2019 season with a record of 9-9-12 and 36 points.
They’ve been mediocre thus far as well, with a mark of 2-0-2 and 6 points. It isn’t the best matchup, but it should be entertaining against two even clubs. Head below for our free Rukh Brest vs. Minsk pick in the Belarusian Premier League for April 18, 2020.
FC Rukh Brest vs. FC Minsk Betting Odds:
Rukh Brest vs. Minsk Prediction:
Rukh Brest are coming off three tough games after an impressive debut in the Premier League. They won on March 20 against Dinamo Minsk in an upset, but have looked like themselves the past three matches. Rukh Brest have 1-0 losses against Energetyk-BGU and BATE, with a draw against Slavia in their most recent appearance. The offence has been non-existent since their Premier League opener.
They’ve scored just 1 goal on the season, which came versus Dinamo Minsk on March 20. Since then Rukh Brest has been unable to score a goal in three matches. They have been awfully close to going four straight matches without a goal in 2020. In their most recent effort, Rukh Brest registered just 3 shots on target against Slavia. They struggled to generate scoring chances against BATE and Energetyk-BGU as well.
Rukh Brest won’t have to deal with a dangerous offence on Saturday, so that is the good news. Minsk has been just like Rukh Brest, as they struggle to put the ball into the net. They’ve been scoreless in two matches, with losses of 3-0 and 2-0 against BATE and Energetyk-BGU. Their defence was well off the mark, but they are going to be playing an offence Saturday not nearly as talented as BATE and Energetyk-BGU. I think both clubs finally find a goal. However, there isn’t much separating the talent here. The value is on the draw in this spot.
