Sassuolo vs. Udinese Pick – Serie A November 6, 2020

There is one Serie A match in Italy on Friday, as Sassuolo and Udinese meet at Mapei Stadium. Sassuolo and Udinese aren’t going to move the meter for most people, but it should end up being a pretty good match. Serie A is going into the seventh matchday this weekend. The game of the week has to be Juventus and Lazio on Saturday.

Since the league lockdown because of the coronavirus, Lazio have just been lost in the clouds. Upon returning to play, many pundits were confident in Lazio winning the Serie A and ending Juventus’ epic run in the league. Elsewhere in Italy, Inter Milan and Atalanta promises to be an entertaining affair. There should be some goals scored in that match. If you like attacking and pressure in your football, then Inter Milan and Atalanta are sure to delight.

Sassuolo are coming off a 14-9-15 campaign in 2019-20. That put them in the middle of the league with 51 points. They fell 15 points behind AC Milan for the Europa League qualifier. Udinese were in a similar position, as they avoided relegation by an easy mark, but couldn’t get a Europa League invite. Of course, Udinese were not going to be close to being in the top-4 for the Champions League.

Udinese finished with a record of 12-9-17 and 45 points. That was pretty well what they did the previous season. Udinese finished with 43 points in the 2018-19 campaign. The previous year, Udinese went for 40 points. You can probably guess here they were in 2016-17. Attracting top-flight to Udinese is never going to be easy with their resources. Knowing that much can’t make it fun being a Udinese fan.

Sassuolo are off to a nice start to the season with a record of 4-2-0. They have yet to lose a match, and are at home on Friday against a beatable Udinese club. AC Milan leads Serie A with a record of 5-1-0 and 16 points. They were no shows on Thursday against Lille in Europa League play, but have largely been in great form since the summer. Sassuolo vs. Udinese Prediction:

Sassuolo has had their offence working for them early this season. They’ve been pressing the issue instead of sitting back and letting the game come to them. Sassuolo has been able to establish the pace and it’s helped them out nicely. They are fresh off a 2-0 win over an uninterested Napoli club on November 1. That was the first game that Sassuolo failed to score at least 3 goals in.

If Napoli was interested in playing, Sassuolo may have very well added an extra goal or two. Prior to that game, Sassuolo scored at least 3 goals in three straight matches, with final decisions of 3-3, 4-3, 4-1, and 4-1. I like what they’re doing, but Sassoulo will have to clean up their defense, especially when they get into the difficult part of the schedule.

Through six matches, Sassuolo has scored 3 goals per game, while conceding 1.5 goals per game. They should have enough in them to keep their hot offensive hand going against Udinese on Friday. Udinese has gotten touched up against pretty much every good offence that they’ve competed against this season.

AC Milan scored 2 goals, Fiorerntina scored 3, and Parma scored 2 on Udinese. Sassoulo should be able to have their say in this one on offence. Udinese has averaged 2.25 goals per game over their last four matches. The only match that they didn’t score more than a goal in was against AC Milan. They should be able to make this one interesting against a Sassuolo down defensive talent because of Covid-19. I’ll go with the OVER.
