Werder Bremen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt Pick – Bundesliga June 3

Coming off yet another Bundesliga winner on Monday afternoon, a catch-up game midweek will unfold on Wednesday afternoon between two sides desperately trying to avoid a relegation drop at season’s end.

Werder Bremen are currently in the thick of things, sitting second last in the league, though recent positive results have the group encouraged. They are coming off of one of their top outings of the season, a 1-0 road win against Schalke. Their defense was excellent and they stifled the Royal Blues, allowing them little time and space on the ball.

That recipe could apply to their opponents on Wednesday in Eintracht Frankfurt. Since the restart, they’ve been playing in some pretty fascinating contests – both scoring tons of goals, but also allowing them at an alarming rate. While they currently sit ahead of Werder Bremen in the league, they are only five points clear of trouble.

With points continuing to be so crucial down the stretch, and so many teams clustered together at the bottom, the Bundesliga will definitely have an exciting relegation battle on their hands. Wednesday’s battle is yet another example of that and it should make for some intense soccer action over the final few weeks. Our Bundesliga picks have been red-hot since the restart, and we will look to keep the momentum going on Wednesday afternoon. Read on below the posted odds for a match breakdown, tactical analysis, and betting prediction for Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Werder Bremen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt Pick:

For those that don’t know, if you watch Wednesday’s encounter you will quickly realize the intrigue of Eintracht Frankfurt. They play an exciting and fast style, and are actually one of the more underappreciated sides in the entire Bundesliga. They have impressive underlying metrics that suggest they can definitely hang with teams in the top-half of the table.

Though currently in twelfth place, their expected points would actually have them around the 7th spot in the table. Expect them to line up in their familiar 3-4-2-1 formation, which allows for ultimate flexibility and limitless options going forward. While they lack the big name punch of many other clubs, their team plays well together, and have proven to be lethal in out-numbered counter situations going forward.

For Bremen, they simply need to be better at home if they are to avoid the drop. It’s been a staggering nine months since they last tasted victory on home soil, and a win here would clearly mean a ton for their relegation chances. That said, Bremen is definitely a franchise that has fallen on tough times. They used to be an elite group in the Bundesliga, but now their roster and prestige has been seriously downgraded. They’ve secured some solid results recently, but their expected goal numbers are some of the worst in the league. There’s a reason why they are in their current predicament, and Frankfurt should give them a real stern test.

Bremen will likely line-up in a 4-3-3 formation, one that they haven’t endured too much success in. Making matters worse is their two key players up top, Leonardo Bittencourt and Milos Rashica are both heavy injury doubts heading into Wednesday’s midweek clash. If that duo cannot feature, Bremen will have a tough time in holding onto the ball and generating opportunities themselves.

These two sides met back in October, and the match ended in a scoring draw. While that is definitely plausible once again, I think Eintracht Frankfurt have a lot more going forward and should be able to seize an extra goal this time around. They’re in good scoring form, and though their defense has been vulnerable – a depleted Bremen attack won’t pose a serious threat.

Frankfurt have been one of the sneakily improved groups over the past few matchdays, and with their proximity to a relegation battle themselves, they will quickly realize the importance of three points. While betting them to win outright seems a tad risky, the more secure market would be backing Eintracht Frankfurt on the ‘Draw No Bet’ or ‘PK’ option. Of course, if the match draws, your wager is refunded – though when/if they win, we profit again! Enjoy the match as the stakes continue to get higher in the German Bundesliga!

Prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1
