A Saturday afternoon showdown between two of the Premier League’s most offensively-inclined teams will unfold in Gameweek 11, as West Ham United hosts Man United in a crucial clash.
David Moyes’ West Ham side have surprised so far this season, finally seeming to put all of their talent and spending to good use. They’re certainly playing to their potential, but a hungry and motivated Manchester United squad await.
For Man U, it’s been another week plagued by inconsistency. Following a disappointing loss mid-week to PSG in the Champions League, their position in that tournament is now in doubt, with another big match coming up again this week. Will United be fully invested in this clash as a result? It will certainly be interesting to monitor the lineup Ole Gunnar Solksjaer names.
The last time these teams met, West Ham prevailed with a 2-0 win – a result that they really haven’t looked back from ever since. They’ve been one of England’s best clubs over the past few months, and with a talented United side ready to visit East London, the Hammers are surely prepared for a big test.

West Ham United vs. Manchester United Pick:
Though the Hammers with a lot of confidence and a string of positive results, missing both Andriy Yarmolenko and Michail Antonio might cause some problems offensively. That duo has been pretty important in generating chances and shots at goal, and though West Ham does boast solid squad depth, they’ll certainly be missed.
Instead, look for Moyes to really rely on Pablo Fornals and Sebastian Haller to lead the line against a weakened United defense. The Red Devils have struggled defensively of late, and West Ham should be able to trouble them regularly on Saturday. Moyes has led his side to one of the highest expected goal totals in the Premier League, and those chances should continue as United are weak without the ball.
Speaking of that United lineup, it will be interesting to see how strong of a group they put forward vs. West Ham. Their defense is weakened, and with a big Champions League match coming mid-week, don’t be surprised to see the manager sit out some of his more talented pieces. Still, Man U possesses elite offensive talent and though their midfield might struggle going against Declan Rice of West Ham, with Cavani, Fernandes, and Martial up top – that’s a front three that should strike fear into any back-line.
The Hammers enter comfortable within their shape and they are finally seeing big results. This is yet another big-time for their emerging side, and they’ll be charged up for a big test. For United, their mindset is uncertain though this is still a side that should score. While picking a side in this contest seems problematic, backing the over 2.5 goals seems like a solid wager. Both squads boast immense offensive talent, and chances should be available throughout. Expect a high-scoring encounter between the Hammers and Red Devils on Saturday.
