Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has impressed head coach Mike McCarthy, who says that Prescott may be a little ahead of his recovery schedule.
McCarthy says that Prescott is surrounded by an excellent medical and strength and condition group and he is at least where he wanted him to be at this stage of his recovery.
Impressed with Dak’s recovery
Prescott suffered a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle last season, forcing him to miss the teams’s final 11 regular season games of 2020. Shortly after the October 11, 2020 injury, Prescott was predicted to have a recovery period of four to six months.
But two months after the original surgery, Prescott went under the knife again. The second surgery was performed to strengthen his deltoid ligament, clean out the ankle, and make it more structurally sound. It wasn’t related to the October surgery but doctors spotted issues related to past injuries on the same ankle.
The second surgery wasn’t considered a setback and it did not slow down his rehab. In fact, Prescott may be ahead a little ahead of schedule according to head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy added that Prescott has been throwing and doing a lot of footwork drills. He however, refused to say whether Dak would be participating in the 11-on-11 drills during the offseason program.
Even with Prescott’s return still hanging in the balance, the Cowboys are favored to win the NFC East which was the weakest division in the league last season. According to SportsBetting.ag, Dallas is a +120 be crowned division champion with the Washington Football team coming in second in the oddsboards at +225.
