The Round of 16 continues on Monday afternoon at Wimbledon. We are only a round away from the quarterfinals, with the stakes and pressure getting higher now. Novak Djokovic is on his way to defending his Wimbledon title and seventh on Centre Court.
While Djokovic has won everything needed for a Hall of Fame career, he still has something to play for at Wimbledon. He will need two more titles to break Roger Federer’s record eight. Breaking the Federer record would put Djokovic’s mind at ease going into retirement. Otherwise, it may feel like something is missing.

The clay at Roland Garros has become home for Nadal, and he was able to cool down the red-hot Djokovic with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 win in the quarterfinals.
Nadal won his next two matches to capture the French Open title. He has won 22 Grand Slams in his career and is approaching a 23rd and third win at Wimbledon.
Nadal must keep his composure and worry about what’s in front of him for now, though. On Monday, he has an upset-minded Botic van de Zandschulp on the other side of the net.
Van de Zandschulp will see his first seeded opponent at Wimbledon on Monday. He has wins over Feliciano Lopez, Emil Ruusuvuori, and Richard Gasquet.
Nadal is clearly going to be a big step up in class for him. We’ll see if he can make a match out of it and perhaps pull off the upset of Wimbledon in 2022.

Van de Zandschulp vs. Nadal Prediction:
This match is going to require Botic van de Zandschulp to be in near-perfect form to beat Nadal on Monday. It’s also going to take Nadal having a sluggish performance.
Van de Zandchulp and Nadal have played each other once, a recent showdown in the Round of 32 at the French Open.
At no point in the match did Nadal not look bothered by van de Zandschulp. Nadal was in complete control and held well. This isn’t the clay, though Rafa has been excellent on the grass when he plays in a grass tournament.

The Spaniard doesn’t have the same respect on the grass, but when he plays on this surface, he’s had a lot of success. He has a record of 13-2 on the grass over the last five years. Rafa has lost just six sets in 25 attempts since 2018.
Following a 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 win over Lorenzo Soreno, expect another strong performance from Nadal on Monday. Nadal appears too locked in to allow van de Zandschulp to have a chance in the Round of 32. Van de Zandschulp may be competitive for one set, but Rafa likely clears easily by at least seven games.
