The final match of the ATP French Open is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Paris. Rafael Nadal is seeking his 14th French Open title, with the first Norweigian to make it to the French Open Final standing in his way.

Casper Ruud has been waiting for his big break and tournament to win, with the native of Norway only three sets away from a French Open title. He has to understand that the crowd is likely against him on Sunday.
No, he isn’t going to hear the same opposition from the crowd as Novak Djokovic heard against Rafa, but this is going to be a pro-Rafa day at Roland Garros. Nadal is one of the most well-liked players on the ATP Tour and he is going to see a lot of support in the final match.
He received a walkover to the French Open Final after Alexander Zverev went down with an injury in the second set. Zverev had a serious ankle injury to end the match. He dropped the first set, 7-6, and it was 6-6 at the time of the injury.
That’s tough for Zverev, as he was battling hard and wasn’t allowing Nadal to get too comfortable. I had that one being a long match, and it was already over 2 hours into a contest that was close at the time.
Rafa sent the favorite of the tournament packing early. Djokovic was in peak form before he was chased out of the French Open by Nadal.
Nadal had injury concerns going into the French Open. There was some brief speculation that he may not even play the tournament, but he’s a -575 favorite to win the title in the final round.
It took Ruud a lot of work to get to this point in his career. Nadal can’t get too comfortable going into this afternoon.

Rafael Nadal vs. Casper Ruud Prediction:
Nadal was in a tight battle with Zverev before he went down. The tiebreaker went down to the wire as well, with Zverev not giving up an inch before losing 10-8. Despite such a hard loss, Zverev fired back to force another tiebreaker.

In Nadal’s most recent full match, he beat Djokovic in four sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6. The most impressive part was after Nadal went up 3-0 in the second set, blew it, but then responded well.
There are many players that would crumble after blowing a comfortable lead to Djokovic, but Nadal calmly came back and put the pressure back on.
Nadal’s closest call during the French Open was a five-set thriller versus Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian had Nadal on the ropes, but ultimately lost the match, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 3-6.
The Norwegian is coming off a four-set win over Marin Cilic. Ruud cleared for an easy 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 win. After he got comfortable on the clay, it was all over for No. 20 Cilic.
The highest-ranked player Ruud beat was Hubert Hurkacz in the fourth round. He was all over the No. 12 player, with a 6-2, 6-3 lead after two sets. Hurkacz won the third set, but Ruud finished him off in the fourt set, 6-3.
Ruud is the eighth-best player in the world, according to the ATP, going up against No. 5 Nadal in the French Open Final. Sunday is the first Grand Slam final for the 23-year-old Norwegian. He’s felt comfortable on the clay this year with a record of 21-4 and 49-18 in sets.

I understand why Nadal is a heavy favorite to win the French Open in the final match, but this spread appears to be on the inflated side. I’m backing Ruud to at least this one close enough to cover the 6.5 games.
