Taylor Fritz vs. Alex de Minaur Pick – ATP Eastbourne June 24, 2022

There is plenty of action in the UK at this time of the year. The grass is cut and manicured with a lot of hardware to hand out. The biggest prize in tennis will be awarded at Wimbledon in July. Before that occurs, though, there is still a tournament ongoing at Eastbourne.

There are two ATP tournaments with championship matches this weekend. Only four players are left in the field at Eastbourne, with the semifinals taking place on Friday. The championship match at Eastbourne is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Daniil Medvedev was upset in a blowout at Mallorca against Roberto Bautista-Agut. Medvedev wasn’t competitive in a 3-6, 2-6 loss. I don’t know if he was injured or just not interested, but this looked like a completely different guy that just beat Bautista-Agut.

The Mallorca Open is the bigger of the two tournaments, but has been money to be made in Eastbourne. Maxime Cressy and Jack Draper are in the early match, while Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur get started over an hour later.

There are also two matches remaining in the Mallorca Open in Spain. For this one, we’re at Eastbourne looking at Fritz and de Minaur. We will get to Mallorca for a bet on Friday as well.

Fritz has cruised to an appearance in the semifinals after beating Thiago Monteiro, 7-5, 6-3, and Alex Bublik, 6-3, 6-2.

The No. 3 seed will have a tougher assignment in this round. Alex de Minaur is probably better than his No. 6 seed suggests.

De Minaur is entering with three wins in the ATP Eastbourne. His most impressive win was in the Round of 16 against Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets.

This should be a good matchup that could go back and forth. Below is our free Fritz vs. de Minaur prediction for June 24, 2022.

Taylor Fritz vs. Alex de Minaur Prediction:

If he goes to London in his best form, Alex de Minaur could be a spoiler in Wimbledon. He can be really good at times and give stronger opponents a tough time if he’s feeling right. Everything will have to go perfectly for a Wimbledon run, though.

He’s feeling good on the grass at Eastbourne going into the semifinals. De Minaur was in full control of Sonego in the Round of 16, with a 7-6, 6-2 win in a match that was expected to have a closer match.

For the first time at Eastbourne, de Minaur went to a third set in the quarterfinals. He still emerged a winner, with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over Tommy Paul.

Paul is the No. 35 ranked player on the ATP Tour, with de Minaur at No. 24. De Minaur has liked playing on the grass over the last year, so his success isn’t all that surprising.

He went 13-3 on the grass last year and 4-2 in 2022 going into Friday.

Fritz is the No. 3 seed at Eastbourne, but isn’t getting the most respect from oddsmakers. De Minaur has slightly better odds to win this matchup.

Fritz hasn’t needed much of a workout at Eastbourne. He breezed past Thiago Monteiro, 7-5, 6-3 and then had no issues bypassing Alex Bublik last round, 6-3, 6-2.

Fritz is 4-3 in the last two years on the grass. He doesn’t have the most experience recently, but went 7-3 on a grass surface in 2019.

De Minaur has three wins in five matches against Fritz. They met not that long ago at the ATP Indian Wells in March in the Round of 16. Three sets were required, with Fritz winning a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 match.

We should be in for another tight matchup between de Minaur and Fritz. This total looks a couple of games too shy on Friday.

The OVER is providing good value and a bettable spot at Eastbourne in the semifinals.
