What NFL Teams Are Most Mentioned Online Outside the US?
The NFL is extremely popular in the United States, but there are plenty of fans around the world. That’s why we wanted to figure out which teams attract the most attention outside of the US.
Using data from Google searches and mentions on X, we generated a list of the most searched for and mentioned NFL teams outside the USA. You won’t be surprised by most franchises that show up often, but there are a few that we can’t really explain!
Most Searched for NFL Teams by Country (Outside the US)

A team’s success is a major factor in its popularity. For that reason, you’ll note that the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are extremely popular in terms of Google searches and X mentions.
The Chiefs were essentially the reigning NFL dynasty before last year, making it to five of the last six Super Bowls, winning three times.
You can probably also attribute some of the Chiefs’ global popularity to music star Taylor Swift, who has been dating Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce for two years now.
Meanwhile, the Eagles avenged their 38-35 Super Bowl 57 loss to the Chiefs in 2022, throttling Kansas City 40-22 in Super Bowl 59. The best NFL betting sites have both teams among the favorites for the 2026 Super Bowl, so they are bound to stay in the spotlight.
You’ll also find the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the list of most searched NFL teams outside the US, and there is one major reason for both: Tom Brady.
The Hall of Famer won six Super Bowls with New England, and then one more with Tampa Bay. He is the football GOAT and one of the most popular athletes in the world. That brought a lot of fanfare to his teams, and those organizations continue to reap the benefits.
Dallas is also a popular NFL team outside of the US, despite not having won a Super Bowl since 1995. The Cowboys are reported to be the most valuable team in the world. Owner Jerry Jones hasn’t had much on-field success, but he manages to keep the Cowboys in the headlines.
We’ll provide more details on our data collection and methodology below.
A Deeper Look at Countries in the NFL Global Markets Program
The NFL Global Markets Program now features all 32 teams, giving each team the rights to market themselves in certain countries, which now totals 21.
Kansas City Tops the List in 15 Countries
Of course, the Chiefs are at the top of the list in 15 of the 21 countries in the NFL GPM, including:
- Argentina
- Australia
- Austria
- Brazil
- Colombia
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Ireland
- Mexico
- New Zealand
- Spain
- Switzerland
- United Arab Emirates
- United Kingdom
This doesn’t mean the Chiefs are the only team allowed to market themselves in that country. For example, New Orleans also has rights to France. This is just to show which teams garner the most searches and mentions on Google and X.
The Defending Super Bowl Champions from Philadelphia are Next with Five
The Eagles are next, leading the combined searches and mentions in five countries:
- China
- Ghana
- Japan
- Nigeria
- South Korea
If the Eagles continue to win Super Bowls and attract interested from an NFL betting standpoint, this number will likely increase.
They still have a way to go to catch Kansas City, who have a combined total in Google searches and X mentions of 873,720, according to our data. The Eagles are actually fourth in total, behind Buffalo and Dallas.
One More Team Got a #1 on Google and X, Outside of KC and Philly
Speaking of the Bills, they top the total of searches and mentions in Canada with 276,22, which is consistent with our data on the most popular NFL teams in Canada. In second place is Kansas City, which comes in at 204,020.
Much of this has to do with proximity, as Buffalo is about a two-hour drive from Toronto, and there are many tours that will take Buffalo fans across the border to watch their team. The Bills also used to have a “Bills Toronto Series”, playing seven games in Toronto from 2008 to 2013.
It also helps that the Bills are an excellent football team, led by reigning MVP Josh Allen. The Bills have an exciting rivalry going with the Chiefs, who also helps to boost their profile.
Our Methodology Explained
We aimed to figure out the NFL teams most searched online, outside the United States, and we used a couple of different methods to do so.
For Google searches, we used Keywords.io, using the names of each team to find the total for the countries in question.
For X (formerly Twitter) mentions, the data was collected using Brandwatch, again, using each team’s names to find the total number of mentions.
