J Balvin, Doja Cat, and Tems to Headline Club World Cup Final Halftime Show

In this article:

  • The Club World Cup has expanded from seven teams to 32, and the tournament runs across the United States from June 14 to July 13.
  • FIFA is trying to emulate the Super Bowl as they have a huge lineup for their halftime show during the final match, which was put together by Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
  • J Balvin, Doja Cat, and Tems will hit the stage at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford in New Jersey for the final match.

There has been lots of talk about the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on Saturday, June 14, in Miami, Florida. The tournament has gone from seven to 32 teams, and FIFA has looked towards the NFL’s Super Bowl for halftime inspiration.

FIFA announced on Monday that the halftime show during the final match will feature global stars J Balvin, Doja Cat, and Tems.

Chris Martin Curates Halftime Lineup for Final Match

It was announced on Monday that J Balvin, Doja Cat, and Tems will headline the halftime show. The Club World Cup has never even had a halftime show.

FIFA got Coldplay singer Chris Martin to assemble the trio of global music superstars, who have 15 minutes during halftime for their performances. This will be similar to the Super Bowl halftime show in the NFL, which has had the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince, and Paul McCartney do their halftime shows. Earlier this year, Kendrick Lamar headlined the halftime show at Super Bowl 59.

It should also be noted that Martin has plenty of experience in these types of shows. Coldplay headlined the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in 2016, and featured Beyonce and Bruno Mars.

Martin tapped the Colombian J Balvin, who featured with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira at Super Bowl 54 in 2020. Doja Cat is from Los Angeles, California, and Tems is from Nigeria as FIFA tries to appeal to a global audience. All three have won plenty of awards, and sold millions of records. Doja Cat has one Grammy Award, while Tems has two. J Balvin hasn’t won a Grammy yet, but he has six Latin Grammy Awards.

Will There Be Any Surprise Guests at the Club World Cup Halftime Show?

You should keep an eye on any Club World Cup odds or betting markets that consider the possibility of guests during the halftime show. There is only 15, maybe 20, minutes, between halves, so there isn’t a lot of time. The Super Bowl halftime show usually takes around 30 minutes when you factor in setting up the performance, as well as taking down all the lights and stages.

Definitely keep an eye on any props surrounding Martin. There is a decent chance he’d be involved, even if it’s just a few lines from one of Coldplay’s many hit songs. There are no betting markets of the sort as of Monday, but there is still six days for the bookies to offer something up!
