Koepka Back on the PGA Tour, Tiger OK With It; What Does This Mean for Golf?

  • Brooks Koepka has returned to the PGA Tour after more than three years with LIV Golf.
  • Koepka will have to pay significant penalties to rejoin the Tour, but Tiger Woods is happy about it.
  • Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Cam Smith have turned down invitations to come back to the PGA Tour.

Brooks Koepka will return to the PGA Tour after his stint with LIV Golf, although he’ll have to pay up a lot of money to make his way back.

The PGA Tour extended invitations to return to Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Cam Smith, but they declined.

Returning to the PGA Tour Will Cost Koepka, But Woods Is Happy

Koepka announced in December 2025 that he was leaving LIV, and he would return due to the Returning Member Program.

He’ll play in the Farmers Insurance Open on January 29, which means you may see Koepka in the best golf picks sooner than later. However, the five-time major winner will have to pay a steep price, which includes:

The 35-year-old Koepka was one of the top-ranked players in the world before joining LIV Golf in June 2022, but he is now 244th, as LIV wasn’t awarded Official World Golf Rankings points. He has fallen off at the majors since winning the PGA Championship in 2023. He hasn’t finished better than 17th in the last ten majors, and missed the cut in three of four major tournaments in 2025.

Koepka will also be allowed to play in the Presidents Cup, and TGL, which means you could see him among TGL Golf betting picks soon, as well.

Tiger Woods is happy about Koepka’s return, stating:

"It's incredible for all the fans. The fan initiative program that we did last year, what they wanted, they want to see the best play against the best. And for Brooks to want to come back, a year early, and he was able to do that."

As for Woods, he doesn’t look to be any closer to returning to competitive golf, and can only hit short and middle irons right now.

DeChambeau, Rahm, and Smith Staying with LIV Golf

The PGA Tour also extended invitations to Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Cam Smith, to return. However, they’ve decided to stay with LIV Golf.

The Tour extended invitations to those three players as they’re all former major winners, or winners of the Players Championship. They have until February 2, 2026, to change their minds, but all three seem like they’re happy to stay with LIV.

However, getting Koepka back was a massive win for the PGA Tour, and for golf fans who want to see the best players in the world tee it up every week, not just at the major championships. PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp says that the invitation might not be up in the future. But the new CEO seems to be flexible, so we’ll see where the game of golf goes from here!
