Kalshi Launches Point Spreads, Totals, and TD Props for NFL Season

  • Kalshi launches event contracts on NFL spreads, totals, and touchdown scorers
  • Contracts for NFL Week 1 game winners are already available
  • Robinhood to offer Kalshi’s NFL contracts on their platform

This week, Kalshi, the popular and controversial exchange and prediction market, self-certified in order to offer event contracts for the upcoming NFL season. The contracts will include predictions for point spreads, totals, and touchdown scorers.

This expanded offering adds to the already available contracts for NFL pre-season, Week 1, and college football Week 0.

When Will Kalshi NFL Sports Contracts Launch?

Kalshi’s NFL contract markets have been submitted to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and have already launched this week.

Barring any objections from the CFTC, the contracts will be live all throughout the season. As Kalshi is already a CFTC-registered exchange, it’s unlikely to face pushback on that front. The CFTC can choose to reject the contracts, take no action, or open a 90-day public interest review of the contracts.

Kalshi’s previous sports contracts have all been created through self-certification. The CFTC has also never denied a self-certification in 50 years. All three markets have been added to the current Kalshi product certifications on the company website.

The debate over if sports events contracts are just another form of sports betting has been a hot topic all throughout 2025. So far, Kalshi has been successful in defending their case that sports contracts operate in a regulated marketplace structure, unlike sports betting.

“Bringing these markets under CFTC oversight gives consumers the same level of protection as Wall Street traders and institutions,” said Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour.

“Bringing these markets under CFTC oversight gives consumers the same level of protection as Wall Street traders and institutions.” — Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour.

NFL prop markets will likely further challenge this argument. Sates like Ohio, prohibit wagers on player props, which touchdown contracts will be compared to.

With the launch of spreads, totals, and touchdown, there’s speculation that contracts for parlays and player stats like yardage numbers could be on the horizon.

Robinhood Also Adds NFL Contracts

Robinhood, another popular trading app, has been a partner with Kalshi since March. As a futures commission merchant, Robinhood can’t offer their own prediction markets. However, they can offer them through their partnership with Kalshi.

Robinhood plans to add Kalshi’s event contracts to their NFL “Predictions Hub”. The contracts should be launched within the coming days to include the opening weeks of both the college football and NFL seasons.

NFL sports contracts are expected to significantly increase volume on the app. Robinhood already offered March Madness contracts through Kalshi earlier this year. They also announced that over one billion contracts were sold during the past three months on their second quarter earnings call on July 30.
