With Mike Tyson-Jake Paul Postponed, Will Logan Step In?

  • Jake Paul and Mike Tyson were slated to square off in a massive boxing match in Arlington, Texas on July 20th
  • Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday, May 26th, which has caused their fight to be postponed.
  • Jake’s older brother, Logan, has tweeted that he could step in for Tyson if the fight is officially called off.

The boxing world was preparing for a massive night next month. Eras were set to collide as YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and heavyweight legend Mike Tyson face off at AT&T Stadium, also known as “Jerry’s World” and the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The fight is another notch in the belt of Netflix, which is trying to get into the live sports business. Whatever you think of the validity of this fight, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson were about to put up some big numbers for the streamer.

However, the fight is now in question after the 57-year-old Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on May 26. A postponement was announced shortly after.

If Tyson can’t go, a surprise person has thrown their name into the ring as a possible replacement. To say that Jake knows this person well is an understatement! The other Paul influencer, Logan might be up for it, so let’s dissect the facts to see if this is a genuine possibility.

Tyson, Paul Release Postponement Statements Via Netflix

Tyson revealed in a statement for Netflix:

“I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover……. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end, you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good.”

Paul responded via Netflix in the same statement:

“I fully support postponing the event, so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night. My fans know I don’t want to face “Iron” Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake – when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.”

Netflix also announced in the statement that original tickets can be kept and used for the new date, which has yet to be confirmed. With the bout in jeopardy, an interesting opportunity has come out of nowhere.

Logan Paul Tweets That He Would Step in If Tyson Bows Out

On Sunday night, a new wrinkle was thrown into the promotion of this fight. Logan Paul, Jake’s older brother, tweeted that he’d be ready to step in and fight Jake if Tyson has to drop out.

Logan got his start as a social-media personality in 2007, six years ahead of Jake, who is just under two years younger than the 29-year-old Logan. The two have been huge in the influences space, but they’ve since moved to combat sports to expand their brands.

The two had their first boxing matches on the same card on August 25th, 2018. Logan fought fellow YouTuber KSI to a majority draw, while Jake fought KSI’s younger brother, Deji, and won by TKO. The older Paul has also had a few other boxing matches, notably against MMA fighter Dillon Danis in October 2023. He won by disqualification after Danis attempted a takedown and a chokehold.

In June 2021, Logan fought an eight-round exhibition against Floyd Mayweather. Since it was an exhibition, there was no winner. However, while Mayweather was obviously the better boxer, Logan avoided being knocked out.

Logan and Jake have thrown shots at each other via social media at various points in their fame. Logan even made a song called “The Fall of Jake Paul” in 2017.

Logan has gone on to a successful run in WWE, where he is the current United States Champion. He has impressed plenty of people with his commitment to the sport. ESPN ranked him 10th on their list of the best pro wrestlers under 30 years old.

There are no odds at boxing betting sites for a possible Jake-Logan match, since Tyson hasn’t officially pulled out of the fight. There are still Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson odds up, too.

However, if this Paul vs. Paul fight were to happen, the big winner would be Netflix as millions of people would tune in to see the two brothers go at it in the ring.
