Rashee Rice Receives 30-Day Jail Sentence; What are the Odds of a Suspension?

  • Kansas City receiver Rashee Rice has received a 30-day jail sentence and five years of probation for a car crash from 2024.
  • Rice can serve the 30 days in jail at any point during his probation.
  • The odds are very good that he’ll be suspended by the NFL at some point during the 2025-26 season.

Kansas City wide receiver Rashee Rice was convicted of eight counts stemming from a 2024 car accident. He has been sentenced to 30 days in jail, and five years of probation.

The odds are also high that Rice will be suspended by the NFL. But for how many games?

Rice Was Charged with Eight Counts From the 2024 Accident

News of Rice’s conviction was revealed on Thursday afternoon.

In March 2024, Rice was involved in a multicar accident in Dallas, Texas. Two cars in Rice’s name, a Lamborghini and a Corvette, were affected, along with four other vehicles. Rice was one of five people who left the scene without checking on the other people involved. In April 2024, he was arrested, and charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision.

After the conviction, Rice released a statement via his lawyer:

Rice has a 30-day jail sentence that he can serve at any point during his five years of probation. But this conviction likely means he’ll be suspended by the NFL for a few games.

How Likely is an NFL Suspension for Rice?

There are no odds at NFL betting sites for a Rice suspension just yet. But after being convicted and given jail time, you would have to believe the odds are very good. Rice had a great rookie season in 2023, but then had this incident in 2024, and suffered a knee injury in Week. The former SMU wideout missed the rest of the season.

The NFL will now move forward with their disciplinary process with Rice, and you can bet that it’ll be multiple games. Rice will be healthy by the start of the season, so he could get the suspension over with. It’s just a matter of how many games it’ll be.

But keep an eye on the NFL odds surrounding the Chiefs, and players like Xavier Worthy and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, and even Travis Kelce. Their props could increase as it’s almost a certainty that Rice will miss multiple games. That means more targets for them with Rice on the sidelines.

This shouldn’t affect the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 60 odds too much. As of Thursday, just after the news broke, their odds haven’t changed from +800. The Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl last season with Rice out for most of it, so this is nothing new. But it’ll definitely be interesting to see if there is a shift in the lines if he is suspended for a long time!
