The World Anti-Doping Agency is following a story that involves ski jumpers injecting their penis with hyaluronic acid. This is supposed to reduce drag and increase lift, which are both crucial to success in ski jumping.
There is a precedent for this, as ski jumpers have been suspended for altering their suits in the crotch area to get an edge on the competition. As of Friday, February 6, no one has been found guilty of penis injections. But WADA says they’re keeping an eye on the situation.
Key Points
- The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is keeping an eye on ski jumpers at the 2026 Winter Olympics after allegations of penis injections being used to reduce drag and increase lift.
- In 2025, two Norwegian ski jumpers and their coaches were suspended for adjusting the seams in the crotch area of their suits at the 2025 World Ski Championships.
- There is no proof of ski jumpers using hyaluronic acid to get an edge on the competition, but WADA president Witold Banka claims that the organization is investigating rumors.
Norwegian Ski Jumpers Suspended in 2025 for Suit Altering in the Crotch Area
WADA president Witold Banka was asked recently if ski jumpers were injecting their penis with hyaluronic acid.
Banka said:
“Ski jumping is very popular in Poland [Banka’s home country], so I promise you I’m going to look at it,”
While it is a humorous story, there is some credence to it. Norwegian ski jumpers Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang were suspended for three months after they were found guilty of altering the crotch area of their suits during the World Ski Championships in February 2025. Both Lindvik and Forfang are former Olympic medalists. Their coach, Magnus Brevik, and two other staff members were suspended for 18 months.
A study revealed that, for every two-centimeter change in size in a ski jumper’s suit, drag could be reduced by 4%, and lift could be increased by 5%. That adds up to a jump-length increase of almost six meters. Therefore, using hyaluronic acid, which is used to increase the size of a penis, would aid a ski jumper. Jumpers have also been found to use clay in their underwear while getting sized for their suit, to fool those taking their measurements.
Why Would Athletes Risk Penis Injections for the Olympics
It’s easy to see why someone would do this. A six-meter increase could be the difference between a gold medal and potentially not making the podium. It seems like a crazy thing to do, but athletes are constantly investigating how to get a leg up on the competition.
While Banka made his statement with a smile, WADA is committed to making sure the Olympics are a level playing field. There will be a more thorough investigation of ski jumping suits than ever before. But it is something to have in the back of your mind while perusing the top Olympic betting sites if you’re looking to wager on ski jumping!
