Davante Adams Bills

  • Davante Adams is growing increasingly frustrated and disappointed with his role on the Las Vegas Raiders.
  • The six-time Pro Bowl receiver caught just two passes for 29 years against the New England Patriots in Week 6.
  • The Buffalo Bills have the best odds to trade for Davante Adams at online betting sites.

Following an impressive first year in Las Vegas, Davante Adams is quickly growing impatient with his role on the Raiders. In response to his frustrations, online betting sites have released odds on Adams’ next team. If Adams is traded, the Buffalo Bills are favored (+400) to acquire the star receiver.

According to BetOnline, the Bills are the most likely destination for Adams, though there isn’t a clear favorite. Following Adams at +400, the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans have the second-best odds at +500. The Bills have the highest implied probability of trading for Adams at 20 percent.

Adams, on the Bills or Lions, adds another dimension to what are already dynamic offenses. Stefon Diggs and Adams on the field together would be a terror for defenses in the NFL. Adams paired with Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Lions sounds like a mismatch nightmare, too.

What would it take to acquire Adams? It will not be cheap. The Raiders will likely want multiple draft picks. In 2022, the Green Bay Packers accepted a first and second-round draft pick from the Raiders for Adams.

Adams Not Happy With Reduced Role In Offense

He is not hiding his displeasure with the Raiders at all. The 30-year-old wide receiver has spoken publicly regarding why he isn’t happy in Las Vegas.

“I’m sure people are thinking, ‘They won the game, why is there an issue?’ I mean, you see why there’s an issue. Ya’ll should know who I am, know what about at this point … when you’re a player like me, mentally, my benchmark is not wins and losses — it’s greatness. So when I go out there, I expect to be to have that ability to put that on tape and have an influence on the game. That’s my purpose for being here. I’m just not here to hang out; I came here to win and do it the right way.”

Are Adams’ grievances justified? Through six games, Adams has collected 39 receptions, 471 yards, and three touchdowns. A year after a career-high 180 targets from Derek Carr, he’s been targeted 59 times going into Week 7.

Through the first four games of the season, Adams was seeing a healthy number of targets. He had 50 targets, including 33 in Week 4 and 5. Since then, Adams has seen nine targets, with just 74 receiving yards in the last two weeks.

Jimmy Garoppolo did not look his way as often against the Packers and Patriots, but he hasn’t been completely abandoned this season. That being said, Garoppolo hasn’t connected with Adams on deep balls that frequently.

The offense, in general, has been frustrating for Adams and Raiders fans. From the play calling to Garoppolo’s inconsistent play, this offense has been highly disappointing so far.

Playing with Aaron Rodgers for eight years will spoil a receiver, but he found success with Derek Carr last year. In 2022, Adams finished with 100 receptions, 1,516 yards, and 14 touchdowns. He was less than 50 yards from breaking his career-high from 2021.

Raiders Coming Off Back-to-Back Wins

Lost in the Adams drama is that the Raiders have won back-to-back games. After getting off to a 1-3 start this season, the Raiders are even at 3-3. At the moment, they have sole possession of second in the AFC West.

Catching the Kansas City Chiefs is a futile objective, but the Raiders would be competing for a spot in the Wild Card Round. So, why all the negativity in Las Vegas?

For one, the Raiders have not reached the toughest part of their schedule yet. Second, Garoppolo has a bad back and doesn’t have any zip on his ball. Behind Garoppolo, journeyman backup Brian Hoyer and rookie Aidan O’Connell have taken turns under center.

They still have the Lions, Dolphins, and two games against the Chiefs on their schedule. The Vikings’ offense could prove to be difficult to keep pace with later this year. Additionally, they have one more meeting with the Chargers to attend to in December.

There is certainly concern that the offense can’t handle these matchups in their current form. Currently, at BetOnline, the Raiders have +12500 odds to win the Super Bowl 58. Given these long odds, trading Adams while his value is at its peak might be in their best interest.
