The Corales Puntacana Championship Odds, Preview, and Best Bets – Ginger Joe’s Squad

The Corales Puntacana Championship odds are here for this opposite-field event. It may be taking place in the shadow of The Open Championship, but it has built a reputation for producing entertaining finishes and giving lesser-known players the chance to break through.

With many of the world’s biggest names in England, this event offers a golden opportunity for those looking to secure a PGA Tour title and valuable FedEx Cup points.

Corales Puntacana Championship Course Analysis

Played at the spectacular Corales Golf Course in the Dominican Republic, the Tom Fazio design stretches to over 7,600 yards but is far from a brute. Coastal winds are the biggest defense, meaning players who control their ball flight and strike it well from tee to green tend to thrive.

If conditions stay calm, expect plenty of birdies, but if the breeze gets up, it quickly becomes a proper test. The closing three holes, called ‘The Devil’s Elbow’, is one of the best finishing stretches on the PGA Tour and often decides the tournament on Sunday.

As is typically the case in these opposite-field events, the tournament is wide open, making it an excellent betting event where outsiders regularly contend. Confidence, current form and solid ball striking are usually the ingredients needed to lift the trophy in Puntacana, and I expect the scoring to be somewhere between 15 under and 20 under par.

The three-man squad I have put together are all +12500 or higher at golf betting sites, and small stakes. Hopefully, we can get ourselves a nice result from the squad.

1. Maximilian Steinlechner (+12500)

Maximilian Steinlechner is a really talented young Austrian player on the DP World Tour, and I think he’s a golfer who is only going to keep improving. After an outstanding season on the HotelPlanner Tour, where he picked up a win, three runner-up finishes and earned promotion through third on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, he’s adapted well to life at the next level.

He’s already shown he can compete against stronger fields, with a top 15 in Kenya and an impressive run at the Austrian Alpine Open, where he put himself firmly in contention over the weekend. The form of those two courses is really important here.

From a course fit perspective, there’s a lot to like. Steinlechner is a very solid tee-to-green player who consistently gives himself chances with his irons, and he’s particularly comfortable on layouts where precision and approach play matter more than raw power. He keeps the ball in play, controls his distances well and has shown he can score on courses that reward disciplined golf rather than simply bombing driver everywhere.

In a field that lacks plenty of proven winners, I think his all-around game gives him every chance of getting into contention. Even if he has an average week with the putter, he could easily find himself on the first page of the leaderboard. A bit of an unknown name, but a player with a lot of talent, and his Corales Puntacana Championship odds could provide some value.

2. Davis Bryant (+15000)

Those that follow my content will be very familiar with Davis Bryant, and yes, we’re going in again. He’s a player I like a lot, and even though things haven’t quite gone our way when backing him previously, he’s someone we know can compete in a field like this.

He had some excellent results on the DP World Tour last season, and this year earned full status through Q-School. It’s been a good campaign, too. He’s yet to win, but he has two runner-up finishes, coming at the Magical Kenya Open, which is form I really like, and also at the Austrian Open at altitude. Both of those courses demand strong tee-to-green play, and the test this week isn’t too dissimilar. The layout is different, but the approach shots he’ll face are from those key middle distances. This is where he has produced some of his best golf.

When you look through the field this week, there aren’t many standout names to fear. I think Davis Bryant can score well around here, and I can see him getting to 15 under, maybe even lower. At +15000, he’s worth a look outright and for a top 10 finish in these Corales Puntacana Championship odds.

3. Rafael Campos (+20000)

Rafael Campos isn’t a name that will jump off the page for many this week, but there are plenty of reasons to think he could outrun his odds. The Puerto Rican finally broke through for his maiden PGA Tour title at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship last year, having also finished runner- up here at the Corales Puntacana Championship and third at the Puerto Rico Open earlier in his career. Those results all came on exposed coastal layouts, where controlling your ball flight, finding greens and relying on a sharp short game are key ingredients.

That profile makes him an interesting fit this week. Campos isn’t one of the longest hitters in the field, but he is an accurate ball striker who is comfortable playing approach shots from those middle yardage distances. Around the greens, he is one of the stronger scramblers when on song, and that was a huge part of his victory in Bermuda, where he led the field in scrambling.

If this turns into the type of event where keeping mistakes off the card is more important than overpowering the course, Campos has the attributes to contend, and the fact he is a PGA Tour winner is a positive,e too.

It is a selection process that has served me well over the years. Originally from Cheltenham, the home of National Hunt racing, horse racing has been a lifelong passion of mine.
