BOXER ODDS
Floyd Mayweather -500
Mike Tyson +300

Mayweather is a heavy favorite to defeat Tyson in this exhibition bout. At -500 odds, Mayweather has an 83.3% implied probability to emerge victorious in the boxing ring.

There isn’t much surprise with these odds, and possibly, they’re a bit too short given the age difference here. Although Tyson is known as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, he is approaching 60 years old.

As a result, the best boxing sites have no problem opening Mayweather Jr. as an overwhelming favorite. It’s important to note that there are no odds available for a draw! Floyd Mayweather Jr. – Does “Money” Have the Motivation?

What this exhibition match comes down to is whether Mayweather is interested and has the motivation to fight Tyson. Of course, Mayweather has his eyes set on the payday. He is already counting his money, but does he actually want to fight?

Mayweather isn’t a stranger to exhibition boxing matches. Since retiring from professional boxing in 2017, Mayweather has been a regular on the exhibition circuit. He and Conor McGregor made massive waves in 2017 with their crossover bout. McGregor was outclassed and couldn’t keep pace in a 10th-round TKO.

The 48-year-old, who sports a professional record of 50-0, followed up with a win via KO over Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018. In the first draw of his career, the Mayweather and Jake Paul bout didn’t have a winner. That being said, if Mayweather wanted to win, he could have easily captured the victory.

Mayweather was holding up Paul and guiding him through the sparring contest. More recently, Mayweather TKO’d Japanese MMA fighter Mikura Asakura and KO’d YouTuber Deji Olatunji in 2022.

Let’s be honest, Mayweather could have won all of these exhibition fights early without much effort. He played up some of these fights to give the crowd a show, so there was no struggle. While Mayweather is 48, he still has some athleticism and moves around the ring well. That is a dangerous fact for Tyson’s chances.

Mike Tyson – Can “Iron Mike” One Punch KO Floyd?

If Tyson is going to pull off the upset, he will have to turn back the clocks and find a one-punch KO blow to put Mayweather on his back. What is the likelihood of this happening, though?

The last time we saw Tyson, he was gassed in the ring against Paul on November 15, 2024. Tyson was unable to make any significant contact with his punches. He was limited by a bad knee and struggled to move around the ring.

The knee was bothering Tyson in the opening round, and he was essentially a sitting piñata for the duration of the bout. Even with a strong knee, though, I don’t believe he could have found the power to send Paul wobbling. It’s the kind of fight you would have expected from a 27-year-old versus a 58-year-old.

Before the Paul fight, Tyson danced with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. Tyson didn’t move around the ring and showed much power in that bout, either. Six years later, what can we expect from Tyson?

I’m not optimistic he has anything left in the tank, but we’ll see if one punch can send Mayweather down.

Tyson vs. Mayweather Jr. Predictions and Betting Pick

If this fight is fought fairly with both boxers interested, Mayweather will simply dance around and not allow Tyson to touch him. He might be older now, but Mayweather isn’t nearing his 60s and still has some footwork to make Tyson look silly.

In 2024, Tyson struggled to stand up with one of his knees shot. What is his physical condition going to be like two years later? I can safely wager that he will not be in great shape to fight Mayweather, who is a decade younger. Even if Tyson connects, he no longer has the same power that he once did.

With Mayweather’s footwork and head movement, unless he gives Tyson a clean look on purpose, he’s going to exit the ring unscathed. This bout is either going to be a clear Mayweather win or a draw if neither boxer is interested in having a “real” fight.

Mayweather should probably be closer to -1000 odds to win this fight, so for my Mayweather Jr. vs. Tyson predictions, siding with “Money” is the right side!
