Best WNBA Predictions Today (With Reasoning), August 19
There are important things to know before betting on the WNBA. Fortunately, if you can’t do your own research, you can see exactly how we arrived at each of our WNBA picks today and the key factors that influenced our analysis.
Toronto Tempo vs. Washington Mystics: Mystics -11 (-108)
The Toronto Tempo (10-24) have been one of the tougher teams to fade against the spread (ATS) as road underdogs, sitting at an impressive 11-5 in that role. But situational factors are stacking up hard against them tonight. The Tempo are riding an 11-game losing streak and played at home in Toronto just last night, losing a high-tempo game to Indiana. This means they’re dealing with back-to-back travel and fatigue heading into Washington.

The Mystics (20-14), on the other hand, are playing their best basketball of the season. They’ve won eight of their last ten games and own a dominant 12-6 ATS record at home. They’ve been resting comfortably in Washington since Saturday’s win over Los Angeles, giving them a significant rest advantage over a Toronto squad that’s exhausted and running on empty.
Washington’s combination of home-court dominance, sharp recent form, and a well-rested roster makes them the clear play here. The Tempo’s solid road ATS record is a reason to respect the number, but it’s not enough to overcome this level of fatigue and a double-digit losing streak. Back Washington to cover comfortably at WNBA betting sites.
Minnesota Lynx vs. Golden State Valkyries: Lynx -2.5 (-108)
The Minnesota Lynx (29-7) come into this one as the most balanced team in the league, and the numbers back that up. They’ve won four straight and nine of their last ten, and they’ve been covering spreads on the road all season long, posting an impressive 11-6 ATS record away from home. Minnesota does that consistently, and that consistency matters.

Rookie Olivia Miles has been nothing short of a revelation this season. An MVP candidate in her first year, she gives the Lynx a dynamic playmaker who can create advantages in multiple ways. That kind of balanced offensive threat is exactly what you want against a Golden State defense that ranks as the best in the league, because elite defenses can be schemed against, but they struggle most when they can’t pin down a single point of attack. It especially helps that Napheesa Collier is getting back to her best, and Kayla McBride can light it up.
The Valkyries (25-9) have been rolling too with six wins in a row and eight of their last ten, but their offense ranks fourth-worst in the league. Winning ugly at home is one thing, but covering a spread against a Lynx team this well-rounded is a different challenge entirely. Minnesota’s road ATS record is not a fluke. We’re backing them to cover here in this matchup of teams with the WNBA’s best records.
