The 2026 AL roster has plenty of appeal, but it will be shorthanded without Aaron Judge in the cleanup spot. Judge is still nursing a stress fracture in his right rib and hasn’t appeared in the Yankees’ lineup since May 31.
The American League won’t be without power, though. A Judge-Junior Caminero pairing would have been terrifying for opposing pitchers, but Caminero alone brings plenty of thunder. Since June 23, he’s launched 13 home runs and is hitting north of .275 with 28 homers overall.

It would have been fun to see Caminero and Judge together, but the Rays’ slugger still gives the AL instant pop. He’s not alone, either. Yordan Alvarez is in the middle of a major surge at the plate, hitting .318 with 31 home runs, including five already in July.
Alvarez ranks second in MLB in homers, while Caminero sits fourth. Ben Rice’s power rounds out a fearsome trio, giving the AL three of baseball’s top four power hitters.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has struggled badly at the plate this season, so his replacement, Nick Kurtz, is a welcome change. Kurtz has mashed 20 home runs in a strong campaign for Sacramento. There’s plenty to like on the mound, too.
AL Cy Young hopeful Dylan Cease is in the midst of a strong season. In his first season with the Blue Jays, the strikeout machine has accumulated 148 Ks to lead the American League. Cam Schlittler will concede the starting role after he is going to use the break to rest for the second half.
Behind Cease, Parker Messick and Drew Rasmussen have quietly been two of the most underrated starters in baseball, so the AL staff is in good hands. The American League has won 10 of the last 12 All-Star Games, but dropped two of the last three. Without Judge, will this year’s group have enough to swing the balance back in its favor?

After dropping nine straight All-Star matchups, the National League finally broke through in 2023. They entered last year’s game at Truist Park as defending winners and pulled out another 7-6 thriller.
The 2026 National League All-Star roster is built around high-volume run producers at the top of the lineup. However, they’ll need to do it without Shohei Ohtani. He has been ruled out with knee irritation, removing the back-to-back-to-back MVP from the National League’s lineup. Phillies’ heavy hitter Kyle Schwarber, the league’s home-run leader, will most likely assume Ohtani’s spot in the starting DH role.
Schwarber doesn’t offer the all-around toolkit Ohtani does, but he was the first hitter in baseball to eclipse 30 homers in 2026. He remains hot heading into the All-Star Game and should put on a show in front of the home crowd at Citizens Bank Park.
That elite top-of-the-order core is backed by high-contact hitters such as second baseman Ozzie Albies and Luis Arraez off the bench. Power depth comes from first basemen Freddie Freeman and Matt Olson, giving the NL plenty of muscle throughout the lineup.
Breakout young players like Drake Baldwin and CJ Abrams add high-end speed, giving the National League dangerous base-running threats and boosting its multi-run inning potential. Pete Crow-Armstrong further down the order, makes this lineup lethal.

The pitching staff is equally intimidating, but will miss the services of ace Jacob Misorowski. The Brewers’ flamethrower owns a Cy Young-caliber 1.62 ERA and 0.76 WHIP in 18 starts over 111 innings, so that’s a big loss. However, Dodgers’ ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto is in peak form, posting a 2.49 ERA and 0.88 WHIP to give the National League a slight edge at the top of the rotation.
One of the most underrated players in the entire game might have been Chase Burns. However, the Reds’ starter is opting out of the All-Star Game with a groin ailment. Dodgers’ breakout starter Justin Wrobleski is a fine replacement, though. Add in Paul Skenes and ageless wonder Chris Sale, and the National League should be in good shape despite Burns and Misorowski’s absences.
MLB All-Star Game 2026 Prediction and Betting Pick
Both sides have a strong case in this year’s All-Star Game. There isn’t much separating the rosters, and the injuries to Judge and Ohtani cancel out any edge their absences might have created.
It’s unfortunate that the MLB All-Star Game will be played without the AL and NL MVPs, it does feel a bit empty, but there should still be plenty of fireworks at Citizens Bank Park.
Even without Judge in the lineup, the American League still boasts plenty of power. Alvarez and Rice rank in the top three in home runs this season, and the AL features three of the top four power hitters from the first half. With Caminero in the mix as well, this lineup has serious quick-strike potential.
I give a slight edge to the National League’s pitching staff, but starters like Cease and Messick haven’t received nearly enough credit this season. I expect them to be highly motivated to shine on this stage, too. Miserowski and Burns might have given the National League a clear edge, but they’re both out.
Most importantly, the American League still offers better value on the moneyline. I’m expecting a one-run game, so back the side that delivers the stronger return for your best MLB All-Star Game picks!

When most people look at the MLB Home Run Derby board, they’re going to land on Schwarber. He leads baseball in home runs at the break and will be hitting in front of a raucous home crowd at Citizens Bank Park. It’s a park he knows well, as 19 of his 32 homers in 2026 have come there.

But I’d rather hunt for a better price. Caminero was the first player to announce he was in, and the 23-year-old might be the most motivated bat in the field with $1 million up for grabs. On a one-year, $794,800 deal, he can more than double his salary with a win!
Schwarber, of course, wants to win just like everyone else, but Caminero’s combination of motivation and current power surge is hard to overlook. He’s the hottest hitter in baseball right now, and that form should carry over into Tuesday night.
11 of his 28 homers have come on the road, so he’s more than capable of leaving the yard away from the Trop. It’s also worth noting that he has experience after finishing second in the Home Run Derby in 2025.
All things considered, the Rays’ third baseman stands out as one of the best 2026 MLB Home Run Derby picks to back.
