The 2025 NFL Week 1 odds and betting lines are available, so it’s time to explore them. In this preview, I highlight all moneyline, spread, and total odds for every matchup.

After fleshing out the matchup details, I share my best bets for NFL Week 1 with quick reasoning for the entire card!

The opening slate of matchups at best NFL betting sites reveal that there should be plenty of close games in Week 1. Currently, 11 matchups have a point spread of -3 or lower! Also, the Denver Broncos are the only team greater than a touchdown favorite.

In other words, the NFL Week 1 betting odds indicate that most matchups are expected to go down to the wire. Now, let’s dive into each game and my reasoning for the Week 1 schedule.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Cowboys and Eagles square off in the 2025-26 NFL opener at Lincoln Financial Field. This classic NFC East showdown pits the underachieving Cowboys against the defending Super Bowl champs.

Brian Schottenheimer heads into the year in his first season as the Cowboys’ head coach. With new coaches and a new system, I’m not optimistic about the Cowboys getting off to a lightning-quick start in 2025. Dak Prescott was absent for both losses to the Eagles last year, so his return will be felt.

However, learning Schottenheimer’s playbook should cause some growing pains. At least, it won’t go well against a team like the Eagles, who can move the ball through the air and ground with Saquon Barkley. The Cowboys got rolled over for 137.1 rushing yards per game and 29th in the NFL.

They didn’t do enough to address the defense up front. Additionally, their offensive line went through some changes, so I don’t have confidence in the Cowboys.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers face a huge measuring stick in Week 1 of the season. They welcome Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to SoFi Stadium for a mammoth AFC West showdown.

The Chiefs are coming off a tough loss to the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and this won’t be an easy assignment. In Harbaugh’s first season, he turned the Chargers around from 5-12 to 11-6 in one year.

The defense was amongst the best in football, with 18.5 points allowed per game, for second in the NFL. Harbaugh has been about that side of the ball in every stop as a head coach in his career and the Chargers are no exception. I expect an even more aggressive defense this year.

Look for another well-balanced effort from the offense with QB Justin Herbert under center. They drafted RB Omarian Hampton with the No. 22 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he should be an instant spark plug in the backfield.

The Chargers were one of the best bets in the NFL last year at 12-5-0 ATS (70.6%) and should be in 2025, too. This one should go down to the wire, with the Chargers likely pulling it out at home over a regressing Chiefs squad!

Miami Dolphins vs. Indianapolis Colts Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Dolphins head to Lucas Oil Stadium amid a quarterback battle in Indianapolis. Neither QB Daniel Jones nor Anthony Richardson has done much to differentiate themselves in training camp, so I’m not confident in the Colts.

They went 8-9 a season ago and are likely to finish in the same spot this season. As it stands, Jones is probably winning the quarterback battle, which isn’t exactly the best sign for the Colts. Expect Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins’ offense to assert themselves better in Indianapolis.

I don’t particularly like the Dolphins, as they lost left tackle Terron Armstead to retirement and cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade. However, they draw a favorable matchup against a Colts team in disarray heading into the season. Back the Dolphins as one of the best NFL Week 1 betting picks!

Arizona Cardinals vs. New Orleans Saints Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Cardinals are 5.5-point road favorites at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans against the Saints! While the Saints shouldn’t be favored over many teams this season, they are probably being overlooked here.

They enter the season healthier than they’ve been in a while, as RB Alvin Kamara and WR Chris Olave will line up on the field together. With veteran WR Brandin Cooks back this season, new head coach Kellen Moore has some solid playmakers for Week 1.

The question is who will be throwing them the football: rookie QB Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler? There’s no obvious choice here, but they should be able to manage dumping the ball off to Kamara to open Olave up downfield. I don’t trust QB Kyler Murray in the clutch in the 4th quarter as a 5.5-point favorite.

This is likely a field goal game, so take the points on the Saints in an ugly matchup!

Carolina Panthers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

It’s a make-or-break season in the AFC South for Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The pressure is on against a surging Panthers squad at home. QB Bryce Young showed improvement in his second season and must break out now.

The Panthers drafted WR Tetairoa McMillan to bolster the passing game, and I suspect they’ll find success immediately. The Jaguars can’t get much worse than they were a season ago at 4-13, but I don’t necessarily see where the improvement came from in the offseason either.

Panthers’ GM Dan Morgan worked hard to give the defense a boost, adding several acquisitions, including safety Tre’Von Moehrig and edge rusher Patrick Jones II. The defense line also brought in Tershawn Wharton and Bobby Brown III.

This will go down to the wire, so take the points for your best 2025 NFL Week 1 picks.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Bengals have a habit of starting off the season slowly, which happened again last year. For the fourth straight year, the Bengals started with a losing record in September. They went 1-3 and never managed to find their footing in a 9-8 campaign.

Expectations are higher for the Bengals, but they’ll need to rely heavily on their offense. The defense is thin and doesn’t have the best depth in the NFL. They should run into plenty of high-scoring contests, and while the Browns don’t have an offense to exploit it to its fullest, they should maintain some drives.

There are better options at quarterback than Joe Flacco, but he should manage versus this iffy Bengals’ secondary. The Browns’ defense is above average and should do a fine job giving Flacco decent field positions.

This is too many points. Back the Browns against the slow-starting Bengals for your 2025 NFL Week 1 predictions!

Las Vegas Raiders vs. New England Patriots Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Raiders travel cross-country to open the season against the revamped New England Patriots. Mike Vrabel will take the sidelines for his first year as head coach of the organization. The former Patriots’ linebacker is putting the team back in contention, but there will be growing pains in 2025-26.

Young QB Drake Maye will be tasked with learning a new playbook in only his second year. It will eventually click, but I suspect the Patriots won’t do a 180 immediately. The Raiders have a new head coach, too, with Pete Caroll, but I trust QB Geno Smith to pick things up quicker than Maye.

I expect the Raiders to win the battle on both sides of the line of scrimmage in the trenches. In particular, edge rusher Maxx Crosby should have a standout performance. Consider the underdog as one of the best NFL betting picks in Week 1!

New York Giants vs. Washington Commanders Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Commanders broke through for a huge season which was marked by a trip to the NFC Championship Game against the Eagles. Although QB Jayden Daniels and the Commanders should have another solid year, I expect some regression.

Training camp has been marred by WR Terry McLaurin requesting a trade. He could stay after the Commanders give him a pay bump or remain as a disgruntled receiver on his current deal. Either way, I don’t like the distraction this close to the regular season.

Expect the Giants to be competitive with QB Russell Wilson at the controls. With Jones gone, the offense should witness an instant boost. Wilson has a solid supporting cast with WR Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton running routes.

The defense wasn’t the problem, and now with Wilson in New Jersey, they should be more competitive out of the gate.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Jets Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Jets are short 3-point underdogs at home, but I need more points to back QB Justin Fields. The former Chicago Bear takes the snaps as a Jet for the first time in 2025. I’m not confident in Fields finding success with his new team, and that includes in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Aaron Rodgers returns to New Jersey after his stint with the Jets was a disaster. Look for the veteran to deliver a message to the Jets right away in the opening week.

Fields played behind Wilson as the backup in Pittsburgh a season ago and likely feels motivated to prove something to the Steelers. However, Rodgers should have the edge.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Falcons look ahead to a season with high expectations in QB Michael Penix Jr.’s first full year under center. I have confidence in Penix Jr. getting off to a quick start and impressing for the Falcons.

The former Washington Huskies’ star looks ready to turn plenty of heads in 2025. Look for him to hit the ground running fast in the season opener in a big divisional showdown versus the Buccaneers.

It won’t be a simple matchup, but the Falcons are a good bet to win a nail-biter at home.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The 49ers head to Seattle as road favorites, which I don’t see as a strong bet. They saw multiple players exit the organization this past offseason, so I’m not excited about laying 2.5 points on them here.

The defense said goodbye to Javon Hargrave, Leonard Floyd, Charvarius Ward, Talanoa Hufanga, Dre Greenlaw, and Rock Ya-Sin. That’s a lot of talent gone, and there are plenty of question marks at receiver. WR Brandon Aiyuk may not be ready for Week 1, while Jauan Jennings is dealing with a calf injury.

Deebo Samuel is with the Commanders now, and with the injuries, the 49ers aren’t well-prepared heading into the new season. I’ll ride with Sam Darnold and the Seahawks as home underdogs!

Tennessee Titans vs. Denver Broncos Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Broncos are the largest favorites for the opening slate, per the latest odds for NFL Week 1. The spread looks just about accurate — perhaps even slightly too low. Expectations are sky-high for the Broncos in QB Bo Nix’s second season in the league.

Nix had a sensational rookie campaign, and I expect more of the same. He should dice up the Titans, but the real mismatch is the Broncos’ elite defense versus their offense. It’s going to be a tough afternoon for the Titans’ offense led by rookie QB Cam Ward.

Ward gets thrust into his first regular season start against one of the best defenses in the NFL. This should be a stout unit throughout the season and should get off to a fast start in Week 1. Lay the points on the Broncos at home!

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

The Lions and Packers meet in a classic NFC North rivalry contest at Lambeau Field. This could be one of the most competitive and closest games of the week. However, the Lions should have the advantage over the Packers still this season.

As one of the most balanced teams in the NFL, the Lions should have the upper hand on both sides of the ball. The X-factor here is the return of edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson back on the field healthy. Despite dealing with a rash of injuries, the Lions still managed to finish 15-2 and win the division last year.

With a healthy defense and QB Jared Goff back with all his weapons, the Lions should prevail in a nail-biter at Lambeau. The pass rush should get to QB Jordan Love.

Houston Texans vs. Los Angeles Rams Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

In what should be another quality matchup, the Texans travel to the West Coast looking for a win against the Rams. I’m high on the Rams this season, so I’m thrilled to see them at less than a field goal on the point spread.

If QB Matthew Stafford stays healthy, the Rams are going to have a real chance at winning the NFC Championship Game. Stafford has an array of weapons to work with again, including WR Davante Adams, and the defense reloaded in the offseason.

Expect Adams and WR Puka Nacua to run wild in the Texans’ secondary, while the defense should capitalize on a mistake or two from QB C.J. Stroud. Backing the Rams is one of the best bets for Week 1!

Baltimore Ravens vs. Buffalo Bills Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

In what is expected to be a thriller on Sunday Night Football, the Ravens and Bills battle in Orchard Park. Armed with QB Lamar Jackson and RB Derrick Henry, the Ravens should have a small edge.

The Bills were just 21st in passing yards allowed and 13th against the run last year. Did the they do enough to address their mediocre defense? Adding edge rusher Joey Bosa to the mix is a big plus. Nevertheless, the Ravens should be even stronger than 2024.

They fixed a huge weakness by patching up their secondary. With their defense getting after QB Josh Allen and Jackson performing well, the Ravens are a sharp bet as slight underdogs.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears Preview: Odds, Betting Lines, Best Bets

I don’t expect much from the Vikings and Bears this season. The NFC North is between the Packers and Lions, so what happens on Monday Night Football in Chicago? I have no clue what we’re going to see out of QB J.J. McCarthy, who is healthy and ready to play after a preseason injury in his rookie season.

Reports out of camp have been mixed, and I’m not entirely optimistic that McCarthy is going to go on the road under the lights and impress. The Bears should be improved after revamping their offensive line. QB Caleb Williams ran for his life last season, and while there will be an adjustment period with a new line, the results should be much better.

The Bears’ defense is expected to be more aggressive with defensive coordinator Dennis Allen calling the plays. They also acquired DB Tre Flowers and bolstered the defensive line with Tanoh Kpassagon.
