Indiana Pacers – Can Win the East This Time Around?

  • Head Coach: Rick Carlisle
  • Regular Season Record: 50-32
  • NBA Conference Titles: 1
  • Key Players: Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner

The Pacers return to the Eastern Conference Finals after getting swept by the Boston Celtics a season ago. While the Pacers were just in this position last year, they certainly had their detractors in being able to do it again.

This was undoubtedly a more difficult road, with the Pacers required to beat a Cavaliers team that went 64-18 this season and the Bucks in the opening round. The Cavaliers had a 14-game advantage over the Pacers for the best record in the East in the regular season.

Indiana’s All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton has come to life and shouldered a massive load alongside Pascal Siakam. Haliburton led all scorers with 31 points in the 114-105 win over the Cavs in Game 5. He also chipped in with eight assists and six rebounds.

In 10 postseason games, Haliburton has averaged 17.5 points and 9.3 assists per game. Meanwhile, Siakam, who won a title with the Raptors in 2019, leads the Pacers with 18.8 points per matchup in the 2025 playoffs. These two needed a supporting cast to step up, and that’s exactly what has transpired.

All five starters are averaging in the double digits, including Aaron Nesmith and Andrew Nembhard. Additionally, the Pacers rank second in the playoffs, with 117.7 points per game.

Despite a tough series versus the Cavaliers, they are fifth in the postseason with a win differential of +5.5! Also, don’t forget about the Pacers’ depth off the bench, as they were seventh in the NBA, with 39.8 points per game from non-starters.

This team is all about maintaining pace and pushing the ball. They are third in the playoffs and finished seventh in the regular season in PACE per game. While the defense gives up points on the other side, the fast tempo has a lot to do with it.

After knocking off the Bucks and Cavaliers, the Pacers are 7-3 against the spread (ATS) in the 2025 NBA Playoffs!

New York Knicks – The Most Clutch Team Left?

  • Head Coach: Tom Thibodeau
  • Regular Season Record: 51-31
  • NBA Conference Titles: 4
  • Key Players: Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges

Contrary to the Pacers, the Knicks prefer to slow the offense down and wear down their opponents. They showed the ability to run and gun with the Celtics in the second round. However, this was an extremely limited Celtics squad that was at their worst due to injuries.

The Knicks are fifth in the postseason defensively, with a 43.6% field goal percentage and 105.9 points allowed per game. They concluded the regular season in ninth, yielding an average of 111.7 points on the floor. Tom Thibodeau’s squad will attempt to stop the Pacers from running and getting hot.

They did an effective job in the second round, but I’m not sure if it would have happened if the Celtics were healthier. It likely would have been a different outcome. In any event, Jalen Brunson stole the spotlight from Jaylen Brown and the Celtics. The Knicks point guard has poured in 28.8 points and 7.7 assists per game in the 2025 postseason.

First-year Knick Karl-Anthony Towns has been excellent as well. KAT is averaging 19.8 points and 11.3 rebounds per game through the first two rounds of the NBA Playoffs. While Towns has been excellent, the fast-paced Pacers could bother him in this series.

The Knicks run what amounts to a seven-man rotation. The starters dug deep and extracted everything they could against the Celtics. They finished in the bottom quarter of the NBA in bench points, so the Pacers have a huge advantage in terms of depth. If Brunson remains red-hot, will it matter that much, though? Head below for my NBA Eastern Conference Finals prediction and pick to win the series!

NBA East Finals 2025 Predictions and Betting Pick

Depth is critically important for countering a team that likes to run non-stop, like the Pacers. Throughout a best-of-seven series, it’s important to have contributors off the bench because the up-tempo offensive attack can wear down and fatigue opponents.

Thibodeau can call on Mitchell Robinson and Miles McBride off the bench, but that’s about all the trustworthy reserves the Knicks have. Meanwhile, the Pacers can go four players deep off the bench if they need to in this series. After a physical series against the Celtics, I anticipate the lack of depth hurting the Knicks.

Brunson is the most dangerous player on the floor in this matchup, but Towns gassing and taking bad fouls because of the Pacers’ speed is a concern. Look for Brunson to lead the Knicks to some big wins over the Pacers. However, in what should be a long battle, I’m siding with the stronger value on the Pacers to win at +135.

This one should go at least six or seven games, so I suggest considering the over 5.5 series games for your NBA Eastern Conference Finals betting picks, too! With this in mind, the Pacers to win the series and over 5.5 games are my top recommendations.

I don’t have a pick for the Finals MVP, though. Haliburton is a good choice normally, but the odds of +170 are not high enough for me. The Pacers have too many players who contribute on a comparable level, so I will pass on this market.
