The Cavaliers were pushed to seven games by Toronto, and again by Detroit in the second round. The first Game 7 win was by 12 points at home.
In the second one, the Cavs dusted the Pistons 125-94 on the road as Donovan Mitchell had 26 points, eight assists, and six rebounds to lead a terrific all-around team performance. Mitchell averaged 28.1 points for the Cavaliers against the Pistons.

However, there are some questions surrounding the Cavaliers. James Harden averaged 19.6 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.1 boards, but his effort could be found lacking at some points. Evan Mobley averaged 15.9 points and 7.4 rebounds, although he did have 2.7 blocks. But the Cavaliers need much more for from those two to help out Mitchell against a very good New York defense.
The Cavaliers dropped two of three to the Knicks in the regular season, although they lost two games by a combined ten points, and won the last game at home by 15. Cleveland require more than just Mitchell to take down the Knicks. But their NBA East Finals odds do offer a nice return.
New York Knicks – Can the Knicks Step into the NBA Finals Spotlight?

The New York Knicks are headed back to the Eastern Conference final for a second straight season after sweeping Philadelphia in four games. It wasn’t particularly close as the Knicks won by an average of 22.2 points.
That includes a 144-114 rout on the road in which Xfinity Mobile Arena was filled with New York fans. It sounded louder than Madison Square Garden for the Knicks!

Jalen Brunson was awesome, averaging 29 points and six assists, while shooting 51.3% from the field, and 44.4% from three-point land. Karl-Anthony Towns continued to fill the stat sheet, averaging 15.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 7.5 assists. Towns’ passing opened up the floor for the Knicks, who shot 44.8% from three as a team.
It wasn’t all good news for the Knicks as OG Anunoby averaged 21 points in two games, but suffered a hamstring injury. The Knicks will hope that this long layoff between series will allow their versatile wing to be on the floor for Game 1. Anunoby is listed as probable for Game 1 on Tuesday night.
The Knicks have been dominant, ranking first in both offensive rating, and second in defensive rating, during the playoffs. Can they make it back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999?
NBA East Finals 2026 Predictions and Betting Pick
This should be a closer series, but I believe the Knicks will win in five, with Cleveland getting a win at home. The NBA East Finals price of -250 doesn’t offer a good return, so I’m looking at the Total Games Played prop, and I like the value of Under 5.5 games.
The Knicks should be well-rested and ready, while the Cavs have been inconsistent so far. I expect close games that go mostly New York’s way because the Cavs extra minutes played so far will be a problem in the clutch.

It should come as no surprise that Brunson (-165) is the NBA East Finals MVP betting favorite with an implied probability of 62.3%. His 27.4 points is third in the NBA playoffs, and he’s been incredibly efficient. Mitchell (+250) is next, which is no shock, and if the Cavaliers win this series, it’s because “Spida” went off against the Knicks.
The prices then drop to Towns (+1000), Harden (+2200), Anunoby (+2500), and Mobley (+3300). These offer high returns, but all four of these options would have to be unbelievable for their teams.
I’ll grab Brunson at -165 now before the price goes up. The Cavaliers simply have no one to defend him, and I think this could be his best series of the playoffs so far.
