2023 ATP Wimbledon Odds and Predictions

2023 Wimbledon ATP

Only a few weeks after Novak Djokovic won his 23rd Grand Slam title at the French Open, we are in London for Wimbledon 2023.

Wimbledon is regarded as the most prestigious Grand Slam in tennis. If there is one tournament that young tennis players dream of winning, it’s Wimbledon. The 2023 French Open winner, Novak Djokovic, is looking for his eighth Wimbledon title and third in three years.

Wimbledon 2020 was canceled due to Covid-19 after Djokovic won a year earlier. So, Djokovic has won the previous three events at Wimbledon. He is expected to have another deep run, but Carlos Alcaraz is coming back after his French Open final defeat looking for retribution.

Alcaraz was reportedly bothered by cramps in the final match at Roland Garros. Djokovic rolled to a 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 victory after it was clear Alcaraz was in discomfort following the second set. The Serb is two major championships away (Wimbledon and the U.S. Open) from his first calendar Grand Slam.

Let’s take a look at the latest ATP Wimbledon odds, from the top tennis betting sites, and making our predictions as to who will win the 2023 Wimbledon Grand Slam.

2023 Wimbledon Odds Men

The following Wimbledon men’s betting odds are courtesy of Bovada:

Novak Djokovic-150Carlos Alcaraz+400
Daniil Medvedev+750Jannik Sinner+1200
Alexander Zverev+1600Nick Kyrgios+2000

Sebastian Korda+2800Taylor Fritz+2800
Andy Murray+4000Stefanos Tsitsipas+4000
Casper Ruud+5000Felix Auger Aliassime+5000

Djokovic is the clear betting favorite to win at Wimbledon in 2023. After three straight titles, there isn’t another player that makes sense as the favorite. That said, Djokovic was not the favorite at the French Open.

He had the second-best odds behind Alcaraz at online betting sites. Alcaraz’s best surface is on clay, so that one made sense. However, Djokovic is in a league of his own on a grass surface, hence being a healthy favorite at Bovada.

Alcaraz is the second betting favorite at +400 odds. He might have the second-best Wimbledon odds, but the difference between Djokovic and Alcaraz is substantial. The odds to win Wimbledon taper off following Alcaraz, with Daniil Medvedev at +750 as the favorite.

Where the men’s Wimbledon draw is heavily tilted towards the two betting favorites, the women’s Wimbledon draw is wide open.

Wimbledon Men’s Betting Favorites

According to the Wimbledon men’s odds, Djokovic is alone as the betting favorite at Bovada. If anyone else wins, it is going to be considered an upset. Alcaraz is the only other player on the board that could be considered a favorite to win, but even his victory would be considered a small upset in London.

Novak Djokovic (-150)

Djokovic has accomplished just about everything to do in his tennis career. He has 23 major titles on his resume and is a seven-time winner at Wimbledon1. However, Djokovic has never won the Calendar Slam before.

The last men’s player to accomplish this feat was Rod Laver in 19692. Djokovic came close at the U.S. Open in 2021. However, Medvedev shut the door in the final match with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win at Arthur Ashe Stadium3.

Djokovic is the favorite to win at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in September. He is a master on a grass surface and knows how to win on a hard court, as well.

Since 2019, Djokovic hasn’t lost a match on the grass. Djokovic is a perfect 21-0 and 63-12 in sets on the grass over that time. If you want to go back to 2018, then Djokovic is 32-1 on a grass surface4.

There isn’t another tennis player that can compare to Djokovic’s form. The one deterrent to betting on Djokovic is a possible hangover from Roland Garros.

There isn’t much time off between the French Open and Wimbledon. However, it hasn’t mattered to Djokovic in the past. He has won the French Open and then followed up with a victory at Wimbledon before.

Djokovic appears on a mission to capture a Calendar Slam. He is rightfully the clear favorite to win Wimbledon 2023.

Carlos Alcaraz (+400)

The stars were aligned for Alcaraz to win the first French Open of his career. The 20-year-old Spaniard was the betting favorite going into the tournament. While many expect Alcaraz to chase Rafael Nadal’s success on the clay, Djokovic wants to delay it until he retires.

For Alcaraz to win at Wimbledon, he’s going to have to do it on a grass court, which he’s not as comfortable on as he is clay.

Most of his wins on grass have come against lesser opponents. Over the last three years, Alcaraz owns a record of 8-2 on grass. For his career, he has a success rate of 78.57% versus his foes in grass matches5.

In the 2022 Wimbledon tournament, Alcaraz was defeated in four sets against Jannik Sinner. He didn’t have to worry about a potential match with Djokovic after exiting in the fourth round at Centre Court.

Alcaraz went to the finals at the Queen’s Club Championship this past weekend. However, the Spaniard wasn’t tested against elite competition. Alex de Minaur was his highest ranked opponent and that came in the Finals of the tournament.

Nevertheless, the 20-year-old is the biggest threat in the field to give Djokovic a tough test in a potential French Open rematch.

Wimbledon Men’s Best Value Bet: Jannik Sinner (+1200)

Italian star Jannik Sinner pulled off one of the most impressive wins at Wimbledon in 2022. He knocked off Alcaraz in four sets in the Round of 16. In the Quarterfinal, Sinner almost did it again with another monster upset.

Sinner pushed Djokovic to the distance,in a five-set nail-biter at Centre Court. He won the first two sets and had the match in his hands. However, Djokovic turned it around and ultimately won the contest, 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-26.

Once Djokovic got into a groove, it was game over for Sinner. But it wasn’t easy for Djokovic. Sinner has been getting better on grass. It wasn’t shocking to see Sinner having success at Wimbledon.

Overall, in 2022, the Italian was 41-16. Through 45 matches this season, Sinner boasts a record of 33-12. On grass, he is 7-4 in his previous 11 outings7.

Sinner does not have the technical skills of Djokovic or Alcaraz. However, he should have better odds than +1200 to win. We put him slightly ahead of Medvedev who is +750 to win this year.

If Djokovic has a bad day, Sinner could be the next player to step up in this tournament. He came close last year and should have some confidence after that performance at Wimbledon. At +1200 odds, Sinner is worth a bet at Wimbledon betting sites.

Wimbledon Men’s Best Longshot Bet: Matteo Berrettini (+2500)

Another Italian that is going to have a shot at capturing Wimbledon glory is Matteo Berrettini. The 27-year-old native of Rome is the most underrated player on grass.

Last year, Berrettini did not play at Wimbledon in the midst of a red-hot stretch on grass. Berrettini won the Stuttgart Open and Queen’s Club in Wimbledon prep tournaments leading up to London.

However, Berrettini was unable to play because he contracted Covid-19 and wasn’t feeling well. That removed the hottest player on the ATP Tour from the field at Wimbledon 2022. In 2021, he reached the Wimbledon Final only to lose to Djokovic, 7-6, 4-6, 4-6, 3-6.

Berrettini’s Wimbledon odds in 2023 are worth considering given his familiarity and success on grass courts. While Berrettini had to pass on defending his Queen’s Club title this past weekend, he withdrew as a precautionary measure because of abdominal discomfort.

Over the last three years, Berrettini has gone 22-3 against opponents on grass courts8. With the rust shaken off, should Berrettini be part of your betting strategy?

It will be tough, but if he’s fit to play, backing a streaky underdog that is capable of getting hot on grass is decent value.

Wimbledon 2023 Men’s Prediction

The Wimbledon odds for the men point to Djokovic dominating the field and adding another title to his mantle. He might have to get into a lengthy battle to fend off an opponent in this tournament, but Djokovic’s odds are still a value at -150.

After Djokovic takes care of inferior opponents through the first few rounds, you will not be able to get this price on him. Barring an injury, Djokovic is unlikely to be tested through the opening rounds at Wimbledon.

Djokovic appears like a man on a mission this year. At 36 years of age, he is well aware that he won’t be able to play at this level for very much longer. Despite recently winning a Grand Slam, Djokovic will be motivated to win another.

Winning Grand Slam titles likely doesn’t feel the same as it did when he was younger. However, there still has to be a burning desire to win a Calendar Slam before retiring. Expect Djokovic to reign supreme at the All England Club in July.
