2023 WTA Wimbledon Odds and Predictions

2023 Wimbledon WTA

As we near the third Grand Slam of the year, the Wimbledon women’s odds are up at online tennis betting sites.

In 2023, we have had two Grand Slam winners on the WTA Tour. Aryna Sabalenka opened with a win at the Australian Open in January. On June 10, the No. 1 women’s player in the world, Iga Swiatek, grabbed the French Open crown on clay. We had winning bets for both tournaments.

Swiatek is the best women’s player on the WTA Tour. After Ash Barty unexpectedly retired at age 25, the door opened up for Swiatek to be in a class of her own. Barty’s retirement prevented what would have been an epic rivalry for years to come.

However, Sabalenka made sure at the Australian Open to make this season interesting. The Belarusian suffered an upset against unseeded Karolina Muchova in the semifinal, 7-6, 6-7, 7-5. Sabalenka hit a wall down the stretch, as she dropped 20 of the final 24 points to lose the third set1.

Let’s take a look at the latest tennis odds from the best Wimbledon betting sites, and make our predictions as to who will win the 2023 Women’s Wimbledon tournament.

There are three co-favorites to win the women’s Wimbledon tournament in 2023. Sabalenka, Swiatek, and Elena Rybakina all have +400 odds.

Rybakina returns to the scene of her Wimbledon victory in 2022. At the time, there weren’t many people familiar with the young Kazakhstani. Going into Wimbledon 2022, she was ranked outside of the Top 20.

Now, in 2023, Rybakina is a favorite to win Wimbledon. This year, the 24-year-old will be unable to play under the radar in London. She was able to march to the Wimbledon Finals without having to worry about Sabalenka or Swiatek.

Wimbledon Women’s Betting Favorites

Currently, Bovada lists three favorites to win the women’s tournament at Wimbledon. Check out the best sports betting sites for more WTA Wimbledon odds and to monitor line movement to see if anything changes.

Aryna Sabalenka (+400)

The Australian Open winner captured the first Grand Slam of her career earlier this year. Sabalenka defeated Rybakina in three sets for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win. The Belarusian had won every match in straight sets before needing a third set to dispatch Rybakina in the final.

On March 19, Rybakina and Sabalenka met in the Indian Wells Final. Rybakina had Sabalenka this time, with a win in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4. However, more recently, Sabalenka got the better of Swiatek.

In the Madrid Open Final, Sabalenka edged out Swiatek for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win on May 6. All three of these women have a history against one another in big matches. It isn’t any surprise, because the Top 3 WTA players are well above the rest of the competition.

However, her latest effort was not very inspiring. On June 22, the No. 1 seeded Sabalenka exited following a 2-6, 6-7 loss to unseeded Veronika Kudermetova at the Grass Court Championships in Berlin.

Sabalenka has been an up-and-down player on grass courts, but mostly positive. Since 2021, Sabalenka owns a record of 12-6 in 18 matches. Her work in Berlin is her only outing on the grass this year.

Expect Sabalenka to be in better form for Wimbledon. She should have a solid chance to win her second Grand Slam title of 2023.

Elena Rybakina (+400)

The defending Wimbledon champ is back in the spotlight after her surprise victory in 2022. Last year, Rybakina was a long shot to win the tournament. From underdog last year, to a favorite at Wimbledon 2023.

Rybakina withdrew from the French Open prior to her third-round match against 132nd ranked Sara Sorribes Tormo. Rybakina did not feel up to the task because of an illness2.

The defending champ did not respond positively at the Grass Court Championships. After winning her opener against Polina Kudermetova, Rybakina did not look the same in the Round of 16.

Donna Vekic handled Rybakina in three sets for a 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 win. Rybakina was a heavy favorite in the live betting markets, but Vekic was determined to foil those plans.

Between the three women’s favorites at Wimbledon, Rybakina is at the bottom of our shortlist. She wasn’t feeling good at the French Open, which was only a few weeks ago. Then when she got back on the court, Rybakina did not play like herself.

It is always difficult to repeat in major championships. No one is going to take Rybakina lightly this time.

Iga Swiatek (+400)

The Polish superstar is in London, searching for her first title at Wimbledon. She has four Grand Slam wins, but the 22-year-old has not won Wimbledon yet.

Swiatek has three French Open titles (2020, 2022, 2023) and a win at the U.S. Open in 20223. However, the Pole is still looking to earn her first Australian Open and Wimbledon titles.

With her talent, it is likely going to be a matter of time before she captures all four championships. There is a strong chance that Swiatek checks Wimbledon off her list in 2023.

Thus far, in 2023, Swiatek has posted an overall record of 34-5. Her success this season comes after stellar output last year. Swiatek rolled through the competition with a cumulative record of 65-94.

She was on the grass for only three matches last year. Swiatek notched two wins before a shocking loss to Alize Cornet in the third round at Wimbledon.

Following a prep tournament in the Bad Homburg Open, she should be ready to play. Swiatek doesn’t have the same success on grass as clay. It isn’t comparable, but she hasn’t played many matches on grass courts, either, so she can get better.

There should be some motivation for Swiatek to play well after a disappointing showing at Wimbledon last year. A motivated Swiatek makes for the most feared player in this event.

Wimbledon Women’s Best Value Bet: Ons Jabeur (+1200)

There aren’t going to be many opportunities to break the three favorites. If there is one player that can possibly pull off an upset, it has to be Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian is the first Arab woman to reach a Grand Slam after going to the Wimbledon final in 20225.

She fell to Rybakina in three sets, but gave it a solid go. Jabeur opened the match with a winning set; however, could not hold on with a 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 loss.

Jabeur wasn’t at her best in smaller tournaments leading up to the U.S. Open. In any event, she was able to turn it up for the next Grand Slam.

As an under-the-radar player again, Jabeur went back to the Finals at Arthur Ashe Stadium. This time, she had to deal with another one of the betting favorites.

Swiatek wore down Jabeur for a 6-2, 7-6 win in straight sets. It was the first U.S. Open title for Swiatek and the second straight Grand Slam that Jabeur couldn’t finish in the Finals.

There aren’t many women players that we can say dominate on grass courts like on the men’s side. However, Jabeur is pretty close to being the best woman of the WTA Tour on a grass surface.

Over the last three years, Jabeur owns a record of 21-4 in 25 grass-court matches6. Currently, Jabeur is preparing for Wimbledon at the Eastbourne Invitational.

If you want to take a shot on a player with betting value on the women’s Wimbledon odds, Jabeur is a solid choice at +1200.

Wimbledon Women’s Best Longshot Bet: Donna Vekic (+4000)

Donna Vekic is having one of her best seasons as a pro on the WTA Tour. The 26-year-old native of Osijek, Croatia, is on pace to finish with the best winning percentage of her career.

In 2020, she owned a record of 8-11 and then showed some improvement the following season to 14-14. Vekic dipped below .500 to 12-13 last year, but has significantly improved her form in 2023.

Entering the Bad Homburg Open, Vekic boasts a record of 21-10 in 31 matches. Additionally, she has shown improvement on grass.

Last season, she had three wins in seven outings on grass courts. Currently, Vekic is 5-2 on grass and looking for more at Wimbledon7.

In her latest attempt, Vekic reached the final match of the Grass Court Championships in Berlin. She won four matches, including a 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 win over Rybakina in the Round of 16.

While Vekic came up short in a 2-6, 6-7 loss to Petra Kvitova, it was still a great tournament for her. She is finally getting some confidence and the better results are beginning to show on the court.

Vekic is worth taking a flier on with +4000 odds to win Wimbledon 2023.

Wimbledon 2023 Women’s Prediction

The Wimbledon 2023 women’s odds do not indicate a clear contender. It should be an interesting tournament. For the men’s Wimbledon side, Novak Djokovic is a clear betting favorite at -150 odds.

The way we see it, if you can get the best women’s player in the world at +400, you have to take advantage. Swiatek isn’t a master of the grass like she is on the clay. However, understand that there isn’t a female player that has been considerably better than the rest of the WTA Tour.

Swiatek just hasn’t played that many matches in her career on grass courts. If she had a larger sample size, we’d likely see her as one of the better players on this surface.

Now, do not expect Swiatek to roll over the competition as she did at Roland Garros. There will be competition for her, including some of the long shots possibly giving her a tough match.

Nevertheless, it’s hard for us to fade Swiatek at these odds to win Wimbledon 2023. She makes for a top Wimbledon pick at +400.
