You can bet on the next Manchester United manager odds as the club dismissed Ruben Amorim on Monday morning. Coming off a 1-1 draw at Leeds, United finally bit the bullet and sacked Amorim after just 14 months on the job!
Amorim didn’t help matters with a scathing press conference after the Leeds game, basically calling out the board for not backing him in the media and the transfer market.
I’m going to examine the odds for the next Manchester United manager, and dig into the favorites and sleepers for one of the biggest jobs in world soccer. I’ll then share my soccer betting pick at the end of this article!

| Unai Emery | +1800 |
Keep in mind when heading to your favorite soccer betting sites: these are the next permanent Manchester United manager odds after Ruben Amorim was sacked on January 5, 2026.
Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca (+275) tops the next Manchester United manager odds with a 26.7% implied probability, just ahead of Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner (+400) at 20%. Interim manager Darren Fletcher (+500) is also in the mix with a 16.7% probability as this trio leads the way in the hunt for the next head coach at Old Trafford.
But there are some high-profile candidates among the contenders, such as Xavi (+900), Gareth Southgate (+900), Michael Carrick (+1200), and Julian Nagelsmann (+1200). You can also find former United legends Wayne Rooney (+1600), Ole Gunnar Solskjær (+1800), and Ruud van Nistelrooy (+1800). Both Solskjaer (interim + permanent) and van Nistelrooy (interim) have sat in the Old Trafford hot seat in the past.
Finally, there are a couple of longshots to keep an eye on in the best odds for the next Man United manager. Zinedine Zidane (+2500), Roberto Martinez (+2500), and Thomas Tuchel (+4000). So is Jurgen Klopp (+5000), but with his status at Liverpool, I’d be a better wager to manage United than Klopp!

Favorites in the Next Manager at Manchester United Odds
These three have emerged as the favorites in the Man Utd next manager betting odds.
Enzo Maresca (+275)
Maresca parted ways with Chelsea on New Year’s Day after less than two full seasons. In that time, the Italian won 55 of 92 games, along with 16 draws. Maresca also led Chelsea to trophies in the UEFA Conference League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
However, Maresca left Stamford Bridge as he didn’t feel backed by the front office, which was Amorim’s main issue at Manchester United. He does play a different style from Amorim, which would be welcomed. But Maresca would likely want more control than the new United hierarchy would want to allow.
He’s an excellent coach, but Maresca wants to rule with an iron fist. I’m not sure that United would want that.
Oliver Glasner (+400)
Glasner has done an impressive job at Crystal Palace, where he has won 41 and drawn 28 of 93 games since February 2024. He also won Palace’s first major trophy in the FA Cup last season.
He also plays a similar 3-4-3 formation to Amorin, but the Austrian has proven to be more flexible than his Portuguese counterpart. Not only that, but he’ll play a style suited to the players he has. Glasner also seems to want to just be a coach, and leave the transfer market largely to those above him.
🚨 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Manchester United see Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner as a top candidate to succeed Ruben Amorim, as they currently lean towards a summer appointment of a permanent coach.

How would Glasner fare in a more high-profile job? Managing Manchester United isn’t the same as managing Crystal Palace, as Amorim found out. You don’t get credit for being a plucky underdog; the standards at United are too high (unrealistically high for their recent performance, but that’s another story).
He’s also out of contract at the end of the season, which is a big reason he is so high in the next Manchester United manager odds.
Darren Fletcher (+500)
Fletcher joined Manchester United at 11, then signed a pro contract at 15 and played 223 games for the club. He then started managing the U-16 team, became the technical director, and then coached the U-18 team. His sons, Jack and Tyler, both play for United, and Jack has played for the first team three times this season.
Fletcher seems like he’d be willing to work with the front office to get the right players in. He also knows the attacking ethos of Manchester United. He knows what the fans want to see.
But I do worry that he has never been a manager at any club, outside of the youth setups. Making this your first job seems like a recipe for disaster. I think he’s overpriced in the Manchester United next manager odds, based on his lack of experience.
However, the thought is that he’ll coach the team for the rest of the season. If he gets good results, Fletcher’s next Man Utd manager odds could look like a bargain!
Next Man United Manager Betting Contenders
Here are three names that sit just below the favorites in the Man Utd next manager betting odds.
Xavi (+900)
The former Barcelona great started his coaching career in Saudi Arabia, then went back to Barça, where he won 89 of 142 games. He also led Barça to the 2023 La Liga title, and the Supercopa de España in the same year. However, Xavi has been out of work since he was sacked by the club in May 2024.
🚨🗣 @FabrizioRomano On 28th September 2025!
“Xavi has been studying the Premier League and is open to join Manchester United IMMEDIATELY even without European football” 👀
— SimplyUtd (@SimplyUtd) January 5, 2026
It was reported back in September 2025 that Xavi said he’d love to manage United if they sacked Amorim. He is also a legendary name that would garner respect immediately. There is some great value in Xavi’s next Manchester United manager odds. However, he also butted heads with the board at Barcelona, so Xavi would have to rein that in.
Gareth Southgate (+900)
Southgate led the English national team from 2016 to July 2024, finishing fourth and sixth at two World Cups. He also led England to the round of 16 and a pair of runner-up finishes at the European Championships.
He wasn’t that successful at club level at Middlesbrough, but you’d think Southgate took some lessons from his time with the national team. But the biggest complaint is that Southgate plays a conservative style, and that’s not what United fans want. Many feel he underwhelmed with a talented English squad, so I wouldn’t put too much into his next Man Utd manager odds.
Michael Carrick (+1200)
I would put even less into Carrick’s chances, although the former United midfielder is still beloved by the fans. He won 63 of 136 games at Middlesbrough from October 2022 to June 2025, but Carrick was a part of United’s coaching setup under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He was also the interim manager for three games.
I think the end of his Middlesbrough spell took him out of contention, and picking Carrick would be a sentimental pick. United’s owners can’t afford to make another mistake in this role, so I think Carrick isn’t a feasible option.
Sleepers in the Next Manchester United Manager Betting Odds
Next, let’s take a look at some betting value down the board at Bovada in this market.
Zinedine Zidane (+2500)
The former France legend has long been admired at Old Trafford, both as a player and as a manager. His coaching resume is incredible: 174 wins in 263 games at Real Madrid, where he won two La Liga titles, three Champions League titles, as well as two Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, and two Supercopas.
However, it is thought that Zidane is waiting for the France national team job to become open. Didier Deschamps said that he is stepping down after the 2026 World Cup. It’s believed that Zidane will step into the role immediately. It would be fun if he took the interim job at United, but then what? I can’t see it, but I think Zidane’s next Man Utd manager odds should be closer to +4000 than +2500.
Roberto Martinez (+3000)
Martinez is currently the manager of the Portugal national team, but he does have Premier League experience, having won 61 of 143 games in almost three years at Everton from June 2013 to May 2016. He also had a stint Wigan in the competition.
The Spanish manager hasn’t coached a club team since then, having taken over at Belgium, and then Portugal. He is obviously trying to prepare his team for the World Cup. But at +3000, I think Martinez might have a chance to offer a better return than many think.
Next Manchester United Manager Betting Pick
Given the recent history of the club, no one has any idea what the Man Utd owners will do, or what they’re even looking for. Their best chance was Mourinho, who won the League Cup and Europa League in 2017. But he wasn’t the same coach he was at his peak.
I’m going to make Oliver Glasner my next Manchester United manager prediction at +400! The foundation is already there for the 3-4-3 formation he prefers, but Glasner is more flexible than Amorim. He also seems to have a cooler head than the Portuguese, although Glasner was tough with the Palace board when they wanted to sell defender Marc Guehi last summer.
Xavi is a name to watch for as well, as many think United needs a big-name manager next. But I’m going to bet on Oliver Glasner’s next Manchester United manager odds at +400 in this spot! I picked Amorim correctly back in 2024, and I’m confident in Glasner’s chances!
