2023 NFL Week 9 Odds and Predictions

The ninth week of the 2023-24 NFL regular season is upon us as NFL betting sites have released their opening lines. This week marks the midway point of the season. We are breaking down all the NFL Week 9 odds and making our best wagers in against the spread betting, moneyline betting, and Over-Under betting.

Currently, the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Francisco 49ers have the top Super Bowl 58 betting odds at Bovada. Along with the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Denver Broncos, the 49ers will take their bye week after a disappointing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8. So, that means there are 14 games scheduled for Week 9.

Let’s delve right into our best NFL Week 9 predictions and bets. According to the odds for NFL Week 9, there should be plenty of close, low-scoring games on the schedule. The following NFL Week 9 betting odds are courtesy of Bovada:

Tennessee Titans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Tennessee Titans+2.5 (-115)+125Over 37.5 (-110)
Pittsburgh Steelers-2.5 (-105)-145Under 37.5 (-110)

Amid Derrick Henry trade rumors at the deadline, the Titans are on a short week with an appearance on Thursday Night Football scheduled at Pittsburgh.

Ryan Tannehill’s status for this one is uncertain after he missed last week against the Atlanta Falcons. Steelers’ QB1 Kenny Pickett’s status is in doubt this week, as well. Mitchell Trubisky would receive the call if Pickett is not cleared to play.

Will Levis impressed in his first NFL start for the Titans. It’s likely that head coach Mike Vrabel gives the rookie the call after a promising debut.

Despite such a strong performance, evading T.J. Watt and company will be tough under the bright lights in Pittsburgh. Regardless of who is in at QB, this is not expected to be a pretty game offensively.

The Steelers should have just enough with their pass rush to edge the Titans out by four to six points.

Titans vs. Steelers Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers -2.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers (-150)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 37.5 (-110)

Miami Dolphins vs. Kansas City Chiefs Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Miami Dolphins+3 (-115)+125Over 50.5 (-110)
Kansas City Chiefs-3 (-105)-150Under 50.5 (-110)

The marquee game of the week is not on US soil in Week 9. You will have to wake up early on Sunday morning, as the Dolphins and Chiefs are in Germany at Deutsche Bank Park.

This year, the NFL is bringing some quality matchups to Europe instead of less desirable games. In what should be a thrilling encounter, expect a game that goes down to the wire.

The Dolphins’ defense has not been particularly impressive in big games. However, Jalen Ramsey’s return provides the Dolphins with a much-needed lift in the secondary.

After falling to the Eagles two weeks ago, look for the Dolphins to grab a signature win in Europe.

Dolphins vs. Chiefs Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Miami Dolphins +3 (-115)
  • Moneyline Bet: Miami Dolphins (+125)
  • Over-Under Bet: Over 50.5 (-110)

Minnesota Vikings vs. Atlanta Falcons Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Minnesota Vikings+3.5 (-110)+145Over 38.5 (-110)
Atlanta Falcons-3.5 (-110)-180Under 38.5 (-110)

Following a physical NFC North win at Lambeau Field, the Vikings may not be too interested this week. Additionally, Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles tendon and is out for the rest of the season.

When the Falcons run the ball well, which they should win versus the Vikings’ front seven, that’s when this team has success. Regardless if it’s Desmond Ridder or Taylor Heinicke under center, the Falcons should move the ball against a deflated Vikings’ squad.

Fifth-round selection of the 2023 NFL Draft, Jaren Hall, is scheduled to get the start for the Vikings. Already without Justin Jefferson, Cousins’ absence puts the Vikings in a bind against the Falcons.

Vikings vs. Falcons Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Atlanta Falcons -3.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: Atlanta Falcons (-180)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 38.5 (-110)

Arizona Cardinals vs. Cleveland Browns Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Arizona Cardinals+7.5 (-110)+310Over 40 (-110)
Cleveland Browns-7.5 (-110)-400Under 40 (-110)

The Browns return home after a tricky matchup against the Seattle Seahawks out west. They welcome the Cardinals to Cleveland as 7.5-point favorites.

Deshaun Watson returned to the field two weeks ago, but exited with a head injury against the Indianapolis Colts. Despite being cleared, Watson remained on the bench, as he did last week at Seattle.

Nevertheless, the defense should win this game for the Browns. Joshua Dobbs, or possibly Kyler Murray, will find it tough to solve the Browns’ secondary with a relentless pass rush coming in waves.

In an unlucky draw, the Cardinals have the Ravens and Browns’ defenses in back-to-back weeks. Expect the Browns to hold off the Cardinals to win and cover.

Cardinals vs. Browns Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Cleveland Browns -7.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: Cleveland Browns (-400)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 40 (-110)

Chicago Bears vs. New Orleans Saints Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Chicago Bears+5.5 (-110)+185Over 40.5 (-110)
New Orleans Saints-5.5 (-110)-235Under 40.5 (-110)

The Saints have been one of the weirdest teams in the NFL. There is more than enough talent on this roster to be better than a team that is struggling to stay above .500.

Justin Fields wants to get back on the field after backup Tyson Bagent handled the starting QB duties the last two weeks. As we approach the start of Week 9, there’s no word on his availability for the game at New Orleans due to a thumb injury.

In any event, the Saints should have success against the Bears’ defense. Derek Carr has a favorable matchup at home to put points on the board.

Bears vs. Saints Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: New Orleans Saints -5.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: New Orleans Saints (-235)
  • Over-Under Bet: Over 40.5 (-110)

Los Angeles Rams vs. Green Bay Packers Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Los Angeles Rams-1.5 (-110)+100Over 41.5 (-110)
Green Bay Packers+1.5 (-110)-120Under 41.5 (-110)

The division is quickly getting away from the Packers, but they’re not out of the picture yet. If the Lions hit a wall, the Packers might be able to come from behind, especially with the Vikings dealing with significant injuries.

The Rams have been a topsy-turvy team this season. Following a physical and grueling matchup against the Cowboys, the Rams likely don’t come well-prepared in their second straight road game.

In what should be a competitive game at Lambeau Field, the Packers should have a slim edge. It’s not a strong bet, but the Packers as a home underdog is worth a look at sports betting sites.

Rams vs. Packers Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Green Bay Packers +1.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: Green Bay Packers (+100)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 41.5 (-110)

Seattle Seahawks vs. Baltimore Ravens Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Seattle Seahawks+4.5 (-110)+175Over 43.5 (-105)
Baltimore Ravens-4.5 (-110)-210Under 43.5 (-115)

The Seahawks travel across the country for an early start at M&T Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. Geno Smith has a difficult assignment against one of the toughest defenses in the NFL.

This may not be the 2000 Ravens, but they have given opposing QBs a rough time in 2023. Making an early start on the East Coast, the Ravens are not a favorable matchup for the Seahawks.

Expect the Seahawks’ defense to come up with a play or two. However, the Ravens should set up Lamar Jackson and company in prime field position often.

We have the Ravens winning by a touchdown and comfortably covering the spread (-4.5 points) against the Seahawks.

Seahawks vs. Ravens Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Baltimore Ravens -4.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: Baltimore Ravens (-210)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 43.5 (-115)

Washington Commanders vs. New England Patriots Odds:

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Washington Commanders+2.5 (-110)+115Over 40 (-110)
New England Patriots-2.5 (-110)-135Under 40 (-110)

The Patriots have regressed this season, but their defense has still looked great in spots. Unfortunately, they aren’t making a push for the playoffs with an anemic and inconsistent offense led by Mac Jones.

Bill Belichick should draw something up to limit Sam Howell. Also, the Commanders are coming off a premier matchup against the Eagles.

The last time the Commanders played the Eagles, they came back the following week for a 40-20 loss against the Bears. Look for Howell to come unprepared, while Belichick throws some curveballs at the young QB.

Commanders vs. Patriots Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: New England Patriots -2.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: New England Patriots (-135)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 40 (-110)

Indianapolis Colts vs. Carolina Panthers Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Indianapolis Colts-3 (+100)-150Over 44.5 (-110)
Carolina Panthers+3 (-120)+130Under 44.5 (-110)

The Colts head to Raleigh, North Carolina, as a road favorite against the Panthers.

Bryce Young’s rookie season hasn’t exactly gone to plan, but putting all the blame on the rookie from Alabama isn’t fair. Young earned his first NFL win last week, with a 15-13 win over the Texans at home.

The Colts’ defense presents a great opportunity for Young to have a strong performance. Their secondary has been facing a myriad of issues in 2023.

Look for Young to exploit these holes for one of the best starts of his NFL career. With a chance for their second consecutive win, the Panthers have decent value at +3 points.

Colts vs. Panthers Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Carolina Panthers +3 (-120)
  • Moneyline Bet: Carolina Panthers (+130)
  • Over-Under Bet: Over 44.5 (-110)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Houston Texans Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Tampa Bay Buccaneers+2.5 (-105)+120Over 38.5 (-110)
Houston Texans-2.5 (-115)-140Under 38.5 (-110)

The Buccaneers are going into Week 9 with a bit more time for preparations. After a 24-18 loss to the Bills on Thursday Night Football, the Buccaneers travel to Houston to square off against the Texans at NRG Stadium.

In Week 8, the Texans fell short in a hard-fought matchup against the Panthers. C.J. Stroud and the Texans should probably expect another tight game that goes down to the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans should have some success in the dome against a spotty Texans’ secondary. Despite a three-game losing streak, the Buccaneers are 3-4 and in the NFC South hunt.

This is an important and winnable game for the Buccaneers. They need this one badly. With extra time to prepare, expect a quality performance at Houston.

Buccaneers vs. Texans Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2.5 (-105)
  • Moneyline Bet: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+120)
  • Over-Under Bet: Over 38.5 (-110)

New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
New York Giants+3.5 (-110)+140Over 39.5 (-110)
Las Vegas Raiders-3.5 (-110)-160Under 39.5 (-110)

The Giants will attempt to pick up the pieces in Las Vegas after a demoralizing loss against the New York Jets. On 4th-and-1, and a chance to ice the game, Graham Gano missed a chip shot to make it a 13-7 contest.

The Jets subsequently marched down the field to tie up the game at the end of regulation and then win in overtime. Tyrod Taylor left the game early with rib injuries, which resulted in Tommy DeVito looking clueless in the rain at MetLife Stadium.

It’s hard to see the Giants rebounding positively from that game. Daniel Jones is not expected back until next week, so the QB situation will continue to be in dire straits at Allegiant Stadium. Bet the Raiders or nothing in this spot.

Giants vs. Raiders Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Las Vegas Raiders -3.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: Las Vegas Raiders (-160)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 39.5 (-110)

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Dallas Cowboys+3 (-110)+140Over 47 (-105)
Philadelphia Eagles-3 (-110)-160Under 47 (-115)

The Cowboys and Eagles are coming off wins heading into rivalry week at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles started slow, but were able to overtake the Commanders for a 38-31 win.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys started fast and ended fast against the Rams. They pulled away from the Rams for a 43-20 win at AT&T Stadium.

This should be a competitive battle, and could end up deciding the NFC East title. Both teams have been in top form recently.

In a game that is expected to go down to the wire, you always have to consider taking the points on the underdog.

Cowboys vs. Eagles Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Dallas Cowboys +3 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: Dallas Cowboys (+140)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 47 (-115)

Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Buffalo Bills+1.5 (-110)+110Over 48 (-105)
Cincinnati Bengals-1.5 (-110)-130Under 48 (-115)

The Bills are on the road at Paycor Stadium for a big-time showdown against the Bengals on Sunday Night Football. Any injury concerns of Joe Burrow’s calf were put to bed last week against the 49ers.

Burrow led the Bengals to a gritty victory over the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. He wasn’t leaving the Bay Area without a win. The Bengals are suddenly 4-3 and on a three-game winning streak after another slow start in September.

Along with the offense in top form, the defense has stepped up enormously recently. The Bengals were the aggressors and didn’t allow Christian McCaffrey to run free at home.

It should be a highly entertaining matchup in primetime in Cincinnati. Home-field advantage likely tilts the advantage to the Bengals under the lights on Sunday night.

Bills vs. Bengals Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: Cincinnati Bengals -1.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: Cincinnati Bengals (-130)
  • Over-Under Bet: Over 48 (-105)

Los Angeles Chargers vs. New York Jets Odds

TEAMSPREADMONEYLINETOTAL
Los Angeles Chargers-1.5 (-110)-125Over 43 (-110)
New York Jets+1.5 (-110)+105Under 43 (-110)

In the ugliest game of the week, the Jets emerged with a 13-10 win in overtime against the Giants. The G-men had a win right in front of them and gave it away to their intra-city rivals.

The Chargers and Jets is a matchup of offense vs. defense at MetLife Stadium. After facing a softer Bears’ defense last week, the Chargers will see much tougher looks on the road against the Jets.

Zach Wilson should benefit from playing one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. He should have opportunities to hook up with Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard in the secondary.

The Jets are our best bet as a slight home underdog on Monday Night Football.

Chargers vs. Jets Prediction:

  • Point Spread Bet: New York Jets +1.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline Bet: New York Jets (+105)
  • Over-Under Bet: Under 43 (-110)

NFL Week 9 Best Bet

The NFL Week 9 odds haven’t reacted as much as we anticipated to the Cousins injury news at football betting sites. As a result of his Achilles injury, the Vikings are without the services of their starting QB and primary wide receiver.

Cousins was at a disadvantage after losing Jefferson, but he was getting into a nice rapport with Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and K.J. Osborn. Now, the Vikings will be forced to start a fifth-round rookie QB.

Following a five-year collegiate career at BYU, Hall was selected with the 164th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. If he had Jefferson to lob the ball up to in the secondary, Hall would be in a much better position to succeed in his first career start.

However, Hall will have to learn quickly with a rookie wide receiver as one of his primary targets. In addition to a murky QB situation for the Vikings, they are coming off an emotional, divisional game against the Packers at Lambeau. They are unlikely to be highly motivated for a road trip to Atlanta.

Expect the Falcons’ running game of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier to give them a serious edge in the time of possession. Hall may not have many chances to get comfortable against the Falcons.

For our best bet of Week 9, consider selecting the Falcons to cover the spread against the short-handed Vikings.
