The Giannis next team odds will be one of the most popular betting markets of the winter! The Milwaukee Bucks don’t look like they can compete for the title anytime soon, and their two-time MVP may be on his way out. But where will “The Geek Freak” go?
I’ll examine the Giannis next team odds and look at the favorites, a couple of contenders, and two sleepers that could enter the conversation. You’ll also get my prediction and betting pick at the end of this article!

As soon as it was revealed that Antetokounmpo and his agent were speaking to the Bucks about his future, social media lit up with potential trade destinations. It has gone into overdrive when it was reported Antetokounmpo was ready to be moved before the February trade deadline.
Houston (+200) is now at the front of the line of a loaded Giannis next team odds market! The Rockets have an implied probability of 33.3% to land the two-time MVP, improving from 28.6% on December 4. New York (+300), Atlanta (+400), and San Antonio (+500) are also considered as possible destinations.
The second wave of contenders is stacked on the board at the best NBA betting sites, as well. Oklahoma City (+800), Toronto (+800), Miami (+900), and Dallas (+1200) are in the mix for “The Greek Freak”! Golden State (+1600) and Detroit (+1800) are dark horses that should be considered.
It should be noted that, as of December 4, Antetokounmpo suffered a calf strain, but the Bucks have ruled out an Achilles injury. He has yet to return, and there is no timetable for his return.

Why Would Giannis Antetokounmpo Leave Milwaukee?
The Bucks drafted Antetokounmpo with the 15th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He started 23 games as a rookie, but it wasn’t until his fourth season that Antetokounmpo blossomed.
Since 2018, Giannis has been in the top six of the NBA MVP voting every year and won the award in 2019 and 2020. The Greek superstar also led Milwaukee to an NBA title in 2021, when he was also named Finals MVP.
Since then, there hasn’t been much playoff success for the Bucks. They won their first-round series in 2022 against Chicago but haven’t won a series since. The Bucks also traded Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton away, and fired title-winning coach Mike Budenholzer.
They got Damian Lillard in the Holiday trade, and it hasn’t worked out on the court the way many thought it would. Lillard has since been traded back to Portland.
Antetokounmpo was frustrated after losing to the Pacers, getting into it with Bennedict Mathurin and the father of Indiana guard Tyrese Haliburton. But this frustration has been brewing for a while, although he had yet to request a trade as of December 4, 2025. This latest news of Antetokounmpo telling the Bucks he is ready to move is the closest we’ve come to an actual trade request.
It might be best for both sides if Giannis leaves to go for another title. The Bucks would also get a massive haul for Antetokounmpo, unlike what Dallas got for Luka Dončić in the Lakers’ trade.
You should also consider that Antetokounmpo is eligible for a contract extension worth $275 million over four years as of October 1, 2026. Any team trading for Antetokounmpo would have to think about that as well, as they would need to have cap space to extend the superstar forward. That allows Giannis to have some control over where he goes.
The Favorites to Land Giannis
There is a list of four teams up on the board for the Giannis next team betting market.
Houston Rockets (+200)
Picking up Antetokounmpo would be an instant lift for the Rockets, who can look stagnant on offense if Kevin Durant isn’t scoring. He would also help on the defensive end.
“If you get Giannis to [Houston], with Kevin Durant and Ime Udoka? Boy it’s going to be hell in hot water.”@KendrickPerkins believes that the Rockets are the best fit for Giannis 🏀 pic.twitter.com/bVhv4tqNWa
— First Take (@FirstTake) January 29, 2026
The Rockets would almost certainly have to send the injured Fred VanVleet to Milwaukee, but the Bucks could also ask for Alperen Sengun or Amen Thompson. Houston also has three draft picks they could include in the deal. Would the Rockets part with one of their young stars? Would this package even be enough? The Giannis next team odds seem to suggest so.
New York Knicks (+300)
Giannis to the Knicks has long been discussed. He reportedly wanted to go there last summer. However, the Knicks traded most of their draft capital to Brooklyn for Mikal Bridges, including a ridiculous five first-round picks (and a first-round swap)!
Karl-Anthony Towns still has hard feelings toward the Knicks to this day due to Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors, per @sam_amick

A third team that has draft picks would have to be included. But Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Bridges are all on the table. “KAT” would match up with Antetokounmpo, in terms of contracts. But the Knicks just don’t have the draft capital. That said, when a star says they want to go to a certain team in the NBA, it usually works out. Don’t discount the Knicks’ Giannis next team betting odds.
Atlanta Hawks (+400)
The Hawks traded Trae Young to Washington, but they could make another enormous move! The Hawks may have the best draft asset of all. They have the more favorable first-round pick between New Orleans and, coincidentally, Milwaukee, in this year’s NBA Draft. They also have all their first-round picks from 2029 to 2032, and a few pick swaps.
They also have contracts to move, such as Kristaps Porzingis and Luke Kennard, both of whom are expiring contracts. But I can’t see Antetokounmpo wanting to go to Atlanta. Outside of Jalen Johnson, they don’t have a roster to compete for a title, which is what Giannis wants. They’re still a year or two away, although they would have cap space in the summer. Antetokounmpo could help lure players to Atlanta. But I think the Hawks’ Giannis next team odds are overpriced.
San Antonio Spurs (+500)
Giannis and “Wemby” on the same team? We can all hope and dream (except for everyone associated with Western Conference teams). Antetokounmpo adds some championship experience to a young team (with all due respect to current Spurs Harrison Barnes and Luke Kornet).
The Spurs reportedly will not be involved in the Giannis trade sweepstakes…

The Spurs still have five first-round picks they can move. They would also have to include reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle and/or rookie Dylan Harper. The Spurs could also trade De’Aaron Fox as he is their biggest contract. However, it seems like the Spurs want to see what this young team does in the playoffs before making any big moves.
That doesn’t mean they’re off the board in the summer, however. If Antetokounmpo is still on the table, keep an eye on the Spurs’ Giannis next team odds.
The Contenders
Next in the Giannis next team odds is a group of teams that could be in the mix for the Milwaukee superstar!
Oklahoma City Thunder (+800)
The defending champions are still the best team in the league, but they probably have more to offer than anyone else! The Thunder have 11 first-round picks they can move, and many assets, including Isaiah Hartenstein, Cason Wallace, and more.
However, this doesn’t seem like a move OKC would make. They’ve built their team through the draft, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander became the MVP, while topping the NBA MVP odds once again. The Thunder know they can win the title with what they have. Would they break up their young team for the sake of getting Antetokounmpo? I wouldn’t put too much stock in their Giannis next team odds.
Toronto Raptors (+900)
The Raptors are an intriguing option in the Giannis next team odds. Antetokounmpo was reportedly interested in Toronto when Masai Ujiri, who Antetokounmpo is close to, was with the team. Toronto also has some assets.
The Raptors have reportedly taken Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram off the table. But they could move R.J. Barrett and Jakob Poeltl. Immanuel Quickley would almost certainly be included for contract purposes. They also have all their first-round picks from 2026 to 2032. In terms of Eastern Conference teams, the Raptors probably have the best haul Milwaukee could ask for. But does Antetokounmpo still want to go there?
Miami Heat (+900)
The Heat are always in the market for a superstar, but they’ve missed out on a few, notably Damian Lillard, before the guard ended up in Milwaukee alongside Antetokounmpo. Miami has a few big contracts, including Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins, but they’d probably want to keep Bam Adebayo.
Brian Windhorst says Giannis should want to stay in the East and play for a team like the Miami Heat:
“I would prioritize staying in the East. Im not sure SA or HOU are going to even make serious offers… I would be wanting to stay in the Eastern Conference and look at a place… pic.twitter.com/tYUBW2ox2w
— Heat Central (@HeatCulture13) January 29, 2026
The Heat also have two first-round picks in 2030 and 2032, and five more pick swaps. Kel’el Ware and Jaime Jaquez Jr. would most likely also be inquired about by the Bucks. Look for Miami president Pat Riley to be aggressive to get Antetokounmpo.
The Sleepers
These two teams are sleepers in the Giannis next team odds!
Golden State Warriors (+1600)
This would be a Hail Mary for the Warriors, who lost Jimmy Butler to a knee injury. Butler’s contract could be included, while the Warriors could also trade Draymond Green, although I’m not sure if the Bucks would be interested in that. The often-discussed Jonathan Kuminga could also be moved.
The Warriors have reached out to the Bucks to express firm interest in Giannis and are prepared to make a “substantial” offer regardless of his calf injury and unclear timetable, per @ESPN.

They do have draft capital, such as their first-round picks until 2032, and a ton of swaps. If the Warriors want to maximize the rest of Stephen Curry’s career, trading for Antetokounmpo is the way to go. Their Giannis next team odds are a bargain at this price.
Detroit Pistons (+1800)
The Pistons are in the same boat as the Spurs, as they have a young team that would like to see how it fares in the playoffs. They have their own first-rounders from now to 2032, they have cap space, and a mix of young players and veterans they can trade. Tobias Harris would likely have to be moved, while Jaden Ivey, Isaiah Stewart, and others could be on the table.
They do need a second scorer outside of Cade Cunningham, and Antetokounmpo fits the bill perfectly. I think the Pistons should be aggressive here, but will they?
Giannis Next Team Prediction and Betting Pick
My Giannis next team betting prediction is Miami at +900! The Heat have missed out on superstars in the past, but I don’t think they’re going to let Antetokounmpo get away. I don’t think it makes them a contender this year. But they’ll have cap space to use this summer, and if Antetokounmpo is there, along with the natural attraction that is Miami, they can get another star in.
Plus, the value is too much to overlook. Let’s go with Miami as our Giannis next team betting pick!
