Conor McGregor said in an interview that his UFC return to the potential White House event in 2026 is a “done deal”. The Irish star hasn’t fought in the UFC since July 2021.
McGregor could have his pick of opponents, given his marketability. These opponents could include the retired Dustin Poirier, Nate Diaz, and Michael Chandler.
McGregor Says Dana White Relationship Is Good, and He Will Be at the White House
McGregor made the statement on “Hannity” on Fox News.
McGregor, a former two-division champion in the UFC, hasn’t fought for the promotion since breaking his leg in his third fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. But he is still the biggest name in the UFC, and would be the headliner in a potential card at the White House to celebrate the Fourth of the July in 2026. McGregor said:
“It’s a done deal, signed, delivered. It ain’t a negotiation. It’s a done deal, signed, delivered. McGregor will compete in the White House for…the America’s 250th birthday.”
McGregor also alluded to his relationship with UFC president Dana White, and the UFC’s deal with Paramount for $7.7 billion. The White House card could be on CBS.
“Me and Dana are in constant communications, we’ve done incredible business together. I’m the highest generating fighter of all time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship; they’ve just signed a breathtaking deal with Paramount where we go to cable TV. $7.7 billion, that deal…ready to rock, baby, bring in the big dog, the Mac G.”
White has yet to respond to McGregor’s comments. But, if McGregor fights at the White House, who could he face?
Who Could Conor McGregor Face at the White House?
Obviously, you won’t see McGregor among UFC 320 odds this weekend. But there are various people who he could meet at the White House next July.
The odds aren’t on the board anymore, but back in August, Dustin Poirier was the favorite to headline the event. Poirier is now retired, but he could be lured back to the octagon for this high-profile card. Max Holloway, who beat Poirier in his retirement fight, and Justin Gaethje, were also on the board.
You’d have to assume McGregor would headline the card, and all of these men are possible opponents. Michael Chandler was supposed to fight McGregor in 2023 and 2024, but it never happened. McGregor fought two classic tilts with Nate Diaz, who isn’t with the UFC anymore, but money could bring him back.
All of these men are lightweights, but could move up to welterweight, depending on what weight McGregor wants to fight at.
One thing is for sure: it’s always a circus when Conor McGregor is involved. It’s very possible, even probable now, that he’ll fight at the White House. It seems to be just a matter of who he’ll face.
