England: Is It the Three Lions’ Time?
England has been inconsistent throughout the tournament, but they’ve shown up when they had to. They won Group L with a pair of wins over Croatia and Panama, but there was a dire draw with Ghana. Harry Kane has scored six goals, which is second in the Golden Boot race, while Jude Bellingham has added four, and Bukayo Saka has three assists. Bellingham had a tough season at Real Madrid, but he has been terrific for Thomas Tuchel’s England.

But there are issues in the England lineup. Declan Rice doesn’t look up to speed, even though he’s been good in midfield. The defense has been a mess as all of their right backs are either hurt or suspended for this game. Ezri Konsa hasn’t looked great in the center of defense, although young Nico O’Reilly has made left back his own. Jordan Pickford was fantastic in a goal in a 3-2 thriller over Mexico in Mexico City, in which Jarell Quansah was sent off.
Tuchel has to figure out who plays right back, either Konsa shifted out to the right and John Stones replaces him, or left back Djed Spence slots in. Rice, or Elliot Anderson, has to stay close to Martin Ødegaard, Rice’s Arsenal teammate. The center backs, Marc Guéhi and potentially Stones, play with Erling Haaland at Manchester City, so they know what he can do.
England is more talented than Norway, and they have a deeper team. But after a grueling match against Mexico, do the Three Lions have anything left in the tank for Norway? They’re going to need it.
Norway: Will Haaland Go Back to England a Villain?
Norway finished second in Group I, beating Iraq and Norway before resting their starters in a 4-1 loss to France. Many people chided them for that decision, but they looked fresh in a 2-1 win over the Ivory Coast, and again in a 2-1 win over Brazil in which they were dominant. Erling Haaland scored three goals in those two games, and his seven goals has him tied at the top with Argentina’s Lionel Messi and France’s Kylian Mbappé.

Haaland is the main man for Norway, but he’s gotten some help. Odegaard is tied with Andreas Schjelderup with three assists. Another forward Antonio Nusa, scored a banger against the Ivory Coast. Sander Berge has been solid in the middle of the field, and the defense has been surprisingly good.
Can they sustain that? The knock on Norway coming into the tournament was their defense. Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland stopped a penalty against Brazil, but it was an awful effort from Bruno Guimarães. Kristoffer Ajer plays for Brentford and has been good, but he’ll have his hands full against Kane.
We didn’t see them play against France, so we don’t know how Norway’s defense holds up against a top-tier team. That’s my worry with them in these Norway vs. England odds.
England vs. Norway Predictions and Best Bets
England to advance at -220 isn’t valuable, but England to win the game in regulation at -114 is a much better wager to lay some money on. I also believe over 2.5 goals will hit at -130 as I don’t trust either defense; I just trust England’s a little more.
Harry Kane (-106) and Erling Haaland (+120) are fine bets for Anytime Goalscorer. But if you want a bigger return, check out Jude Bellingham (+250) and Antonio Nusa (+600). Bellingham’s late runs into the box have been essential for England. Nusa will be going up someone who isn’t an actual right back on that side for England.
