Who Is the Next James Bond: Odds, Rumors, Prediction

The search for a new Bond is officially heating up in 2026, and the next James Bond odds are reacting to a total franchise overhaul. Following Daniel Craig’s retirement after a five-film run, Amazon MGM Studios launched an active casting search for 007 under the creative guidance of director Denis Villeneuve and writer Steven Knight.

This guide will break down the next James Bond actor odds and other markets related to the upcoming movie. I will also give my predictions for the future of the 007 franchise!

Who Will Be the Next James Bond?

After Aaron Taylor-Johnson was the long-standing favorite throughout 2025, 36-year-old Callum Turner has emerged at top entertainment betting sites. With +275 odds to be the next James Bond, Turner is the current frontrunner, but the race remains wide open.

At +275, Turner holds a 26.7% implied probability to spearhead the franchise for the foreseeable future. He is followed by Taylor-Johnson, who despite losing the top spot, holds the second-best price. Taylor-Johnson’s odds at +400 imply a 20% chance to secure the leading role after sitting at +135, or a 42.6% probability last year.

Let’s explore the rest of the board before diving into my next James Bond predictions.

Next James Bond Betting Favorites

Before delving into my picks for the next Bond actor, let’s highlight the top favorites to score the job:

Callum Turner (+275)

At +275, British actor Callum Turner sits firmly as a frontrunner to take over the tuxedo from Daniel Craig. At 36 years old, he lands exactly in the casting sweet spot: old enough to carry Bond’s weathered authority, yet young enough to anchor a decade-long franchise.

Amazon is interested in an actor who can carry the franchise through multiple films, so Turner likely just makes the cut-off age.

Standing 6’2″, the former fashion model boasts the physical presence required for the role. Furthermore, his praised performances in Masters of the Air and The Boys in the Boat prove he can deliver the blend of rugged intensity and smooth charm the character demands.

Turner isn’t yet weighed down by a single, defining franchise role, giving him the perfect “blank slate” appeal. I don’t expect the production team to eye an actor who is widely known among casual moviegoers.

Rumors have recently reached an all-time high, with UK tabloids reporting that Turner has even told close friends the role is his. Although Turner hasn’t confirmed if it’s true or not, when there is smoke there is probably a fire.

I wouldn’t describe Turner as having the traditional bond “look”, but I think with the right artistic and makeup direction, he would absolutely have the tough, intimidating appearance down.

If he secures the part, there is a chance that he would team up with his wife, Dua Lipa, on the project. Lipa is rumored to be the next in line to perform the Bond theme song.

His primary obstacle is Taylor-Johnson, who is still in the running. However, at +275, Turner represents strong betting value and must be in consideration.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson (+400)

Once the seemingly untouchable frontrunner to inherit the Walther PPK, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s standing in the James Bond betting markets has seen a notable shift.

Not long ago, Taylor-Johnson was sitting at a heavily favored +135 following rampant reports that EON Productions had officially handed him a contract offer.

His gritty turn in Tenet, his action pedigree in Bullet Train, and an official partnership with Bond’s watchmaker of choice, Omega, made him look like a lock for the tuxedo.

However, his odds have since drifted out to +400. Because months passed without an official announcement, market confidence eroded. This opened the door for fresh names like Turner to steal the momentum as auditions reportedly got underway.

Despite the slide, he still possesses several traits that would make for a strong choice. That being said, there is likely a good reason of why his odds to be the next James Bond have fallen.

If you want to take a bet on an actor with better value, there are longer odds on the board that offer more appeal.

Josh O’Connor (+700)

At +700, Josh O’Connor holds the third-best odds in the market, representing a distinct shift in direction for the James Bond franchise.

The case for the 36-year-old Emmy winner rests on his acting pedigree. Following his role in The Crown and his performance in the sports drama Challengers, O’Connor has gained significant industry momentum.

At 6’1″, he fits Ian Fleming’s literary description of Bond well. Furthermore, his casting alongside Daniel Craig in the upcoming Knives Out sequel has fueled speculation about a hand-off from the former 007.

However, despite holding the third-best odds, O’Connor remains a risky wager because other options fit the traditional Bond archetype much better.

While O’Connor excels at playing complex, sensitive characters, it is difficult to picture him in this role. When stacked against the conventional charm of Turner, he is a few steps behind.

Additionally, he’s involved in numerous projects at the moment, and may not want to commit to a long-term team on James Bond films anyway. He’s a strong actor, and will continue to surge in Hollywood, but I don’t see him as the next Bond.

Next James Bond Longshot Bets

Two clear dark horses stand out to consider adding to your picks to be the next James Bond. They both hold outstanding odds, so in play as solid wagers:

  1. 1. Theo James (+2500)

At +2500 odds to be the next James Bond, Theo James represents a compelling longshot bet to take over the mantle.

The 41-year-old actor fits the classic, slick visual profile of 007 perfectly. He possesses the conventional leading-man looks and effortless charm needed to carry a high-profile spy franchise. His starring turn as Eddie Halstead in Guy Ritchie’s smash-hit Netflix series, The Gentlemen, served as a flawless audition for the part.

In that role, he masterfully balanced aristocratic sophistication, tailored tailoring, and a capable, cold-blooded edge under pressure, which are essential traits for anyone stepping into the tuxedo. Furthermore, public sentiment tracking reveals that James heavily resonates with fans, routinely pulling high favorability numbers in social tracking data among potential 007 candidates.

The primary hurdle for James is his age at 41. He sits at the older end of the casting spectrum for a multi-film commitment spanning a decade. However, if producers choose to bypass a younger origin story and opt for an established, refined, and immediately recognizable Bond, James becomes an elite option.

  2. 2. James Norton (+5000)

James Norton has drifted into deep longshot territory, but he remains a highly compelling value bet for anyone looking beyond the top tier.

The case for the 41-year-old rests on his elite dramatic range and established British television pedigree. His performances in Happy Valley and the crime thriller McMafia served as a masterclass in handling intense tension, physical danger, and upper-class sophistication. At 6’1″ with a classical look, he looks entirely natural in a tuxedo and effortlessly fits the aesthetic profile of a refined MI6 operative.

While the market has penalized his odds due to his age, 41, this is exactly where the betting value lies. If producers ultimately opt for an established, gritty, and polished Bond, Norton becomes an immediate top-tier candidate. He offers the franchise immediate stability and acting gravitas without the need for an adjustment period.

At +5000, Norton is a massive value. He possesses all the necessary tools to play 007, making him an excellent, low-risk, high-reward longshot option if the studio pivots toward experience.

Next James Bond Predictions and Betting Pick

Regardless of EON Production’s pick, a portion of the fanbase won’t be thrilled. Craig was an extremely polarizing choice at the time, and most people agree that he turned out pretty well, though. Turner might even be more of a controversial choice, but I’m convinced he’s the top candidate.

There is a strong contingent of fans behind Henry Cavill receiving the role. While he nails in the looks department, Cavill might be too much of a household name, and again, his age works against him.

As a Bond nemesis or another role? I believe Cavill clears, but I don’t envision him as 007. It’s also worth noting that Cavill is an ambassador for Longines, a direct competitor to Omega, who has been the watch of choice for Bond since GoldenEye (1995).

Turner hits most of the buttons out of the leading contenders. As a fan of the franchise, I’m not in love with the options that are available to bet on and floated in the media. Having said that, Turner has the type of mean streak that should translate on screen and can easily see him in high intensity action scenes.

So, at +275, Turner is my best next James Bond prediction in the highly anticipated post-Craig era!
