The eyes of the cycling world will be on Italy this week for the 20th annual Strade Bianche. Here’s a quick overview of key information for this year’s race.
Strade Bianche 2026 Dates
The top road cyclists hit the streets of Italy in early March every year. The 2026 Strade Branche is scheduled for March 7th.
Strade Bianche 2026 Route
The Men’s Strade Bianche route starts in Siena, Tuscany. Cyclists travel through 14 checkpoints, including Sovicille, Monteroni d’Arbia, and Buonconvento. The one-day, 200+ KM race loop ends back in Siena.

Last year’s race added a 13th sector in Serravalle. This year’s race will add a 14th sector and be longer than last year’s event. There are 64 KM of gravel in this year’s race, significantly fewer than last year’s 84 KM of gravel.
Strade Bianche 2026 Prize Pool
It is only a one-day race, so the prize money for winning the Strade Bianche is significantly less than that of other top races, such as the Tour de France. The prize money for this race is typically around $40,000.
2026 Strade Bianche Favorites
Here is a closer look at the top favorites in the 2026 Strade Bianche.
Tadej Pogačar (-355)
Tadej Pogačar has dominated the Strade Bianche in recent years. He won the event for the first time in 2022, becoming the first man from Slovenia to win the race. Pogačar came up short in 2023 but cruised to victory in 2024 and 2025.

Top cycling betting sites have Pogačar listed at -355 odds to claim his fourth Strade Bianche win this year.
The length of the Strade Bianche has increased in recent years. The longer race has favored Pogačar’s style. He crashed during last year’s race but was able to overcome the setback and win the 2025 Strade Bianche, beating Tom Pidcock by + 1′ 24″.
Pogačar is coming off a dominant 2025 season. He earned his 100th professional win and claimed his fourth Tour de France yellow jersey. Pogačar also won his second UCI Road World Championships title and his first European Road Cycling Championship.
When a cyclist of this caliber enters one of his favorite races with so much momentum, it’s hard to bet against him. The -355 odds might seem short at the surface, but I was expecting -500 or worse for the big favorite.
Isaac del Toro (+650)
22-year-old Isaac del Toro has the next-best odds to win the 2026 Strade Bianche. del Toro is available at +650 odds to win this year’s race, so saying he’s a favorite is a bit of a stretch. Still, he is the second most likely winner according to oddsmakers.
In his 2024 debut, del Toro was unable to finish Strade Bianche. He made it through the race last year but finished 33rd. Despite a slow start to the season, del Toro went on to win the Milano-Torino, Giro dell’Emilia, and Gran Piemonte in 2025.
del Toro started off this season with a bang, winning the 2026 UAE Tour in February. In addition to winning the general classification, he also claimed the white jersey for winning the young rider classification.
The youngster has potential and should be competitive this year, but beating Pogačar looks like very unlikely at this stage of del Toro’s career.
Tom Pidcock (+1000)
Rounding out the top three is Tom Pidcock, who is listed at 10-1 odds to win the 20th Strade Bianche. Pidcock won the race in 2023, becoming the only British cyclist to claim victory in the Strade Bianche.

Pidcock took a step back in 2024, finishing fourth at +3’50” behind Pogačar. Last year, he again came in behind Pogačar bu did enough to finish second. He was just +1’24” behind the winner and should push him for the top spot again this year.
In his four previous appearances, Pidcock has never finished lower than fifth in the Strade Bianche. However, he is off to a slow start so far in 2026. Pidcock finished 48th in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, his worst finish in the Belgium race since his debut in 2021.
Normally, Pidcock is competitive here and could finish in the top 3 again. The question is whether he can truly challenge the big favorite. I don’t think that will be the case in 2026 unless Pogačar suffers a big crash.
Best Sleeper for Strade Bianche 2026
Pello Bilbao is my top sleeper for the 2026 Strade Bianche at +8000 odds. The 36-year-old turned pro in 2011 and has experience on his side. He has come close to winning this race on several occasions.
Bilbao has competed in the Strade Bianche four previous times. His finishes include:
-
- 2021 – 10th (+2’39”)
- 2022 – 5th (+1’09”)
- 2023 – 7th (+1’04”)
- 2025 – 5th (+4’20”)
He has never finished worse than 10th, and Bilbao has two 5th-place finishes under his belt. If the veteran cyclist can take a step forward, he could shock Pogačar and the rest of the field by winning his first Strade Bianche this year.
I don’t really expect him to win, but if you’re going to bet on someone not named Pogačar, you might as well take +8000 on Bilbao.
Strade Bianche 2026 Predictions
Some of the top road cyclists in the world are preparing for the White Roads of the Strade Bianche this weekend. Tadej Pogačar is a -355 favorite to break the record with his fourth win and for good reasons. He has dominated the sport and this particular race in the previous years.
Betting on Pogačar is not the most exciting pick, but it is the reasonable one. The Slovenian cyclist has owned this event in recent years and has a chance at history this weekend. Pidcock has pushed him in recent years, but Pogi is the best bet to win in Italy this weekend.
Pogačar’s aggressive and improvisational style has made him a force in modern street cycling and gives him an edge over many competitors. After a dominant 2025, expect Pogačar to pick up his first win of 2026 in the 20th Strade Bianche this weekend.
