The finals are set for the World Baseball Classic, and WBC Championship odds between the USA and Venezuela are live. While the matchup is not what oddsmakers expected, it features plenty of star power on both sides.
In this betting preview, I’ll break down the latest championship odds, evaluate each roster, and share my best bets and predictions for the WBC title game.
World Baseball Classic Championship 2026 Odds: USA vs. Venezuela

Team USA (-400) are heavy favorites to win their second WBC title. Following a nail-biter against the Dominican Republic in the semifinals, the USA’s odds to win the WBC have skyrocketed from +130 to -285 at top baseball betting sites.
Their implied probability of winning jumped to 74%, up from 43.5% before they defeated the Dominican Republic. With defending champions and baseball powerhouse Japan suffering a shocking upset in the quarterfinals, the path to a title suddenly became a little easier.
Venezuela is in the finals after entering the tournament as a +1400 longshot. They’re one step away from overcoming the odds to win the WBC. At +1400, they had a 6.7% implied probability, and currently, a 30.8% chance against Team USA.

2026 WBC Championship Betting Preview
Team USA is a considerable favorite, but are the WBC Championship 2026 odds justified? Let’s look into the matchup deeper and find the best bet to win this year’s title.
USA (-285)
Team USA may not have its most star-studded roster ever, and this tournament has been far from perfect, but the Americans are now just one win away from a WBC title. They outlasted the Dominican Republic in a tense 2-1 pitching duel that went right down to the final out.
Their path hasn’t been easy. Team Canada pushed them in a 5-3 quarterfinal, and the upset loss to Italy in the preliminary round still lingers. The question now is whether they can finally put it all together and close out a championship run. They’ll have to do it without their ace, and Tarik Skubal’s absence could prove pivotal.
In the semifinal, Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes delivered a gem, working 4.1 innings and allowing just one earned run on an early Junior Caminero solo homer. But now the U.S. can’t simply move from the NL Cy Young winner to the AL Cy Young winner. Skubal made only one appearance before heading back to Detroit Tigers’ camp, leaving a sizable hole at the top of the rotation.
Instead, 24-year-old Mets’ rookie Nolan McLean will receive the starting duties. McLean enters with a 9.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP through three innings. In 2025, McLean recorded a 2.06 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in eight starts to open his MLB career.
It’s a huge stage for a pitcher who appeared to have nerves in his WBC debut, but if McLean is at his best, he will have a strong performance.

The lineup isn’t short on talent. Aaron Judge, Roman Anthony, Gunnar Henderson, and Pete Crow-Armstrong all provide a jolt, yet Team USA hasn’t produced elite offensive numbers so far. After their semifinal win over the Dominican Republic, the U.S. ranks fifth in batting average (.272), fourth in home runs (9), and sixth in slugging percentage (.461).
Even so, this group is capable of lighting up the scoreboard against any pitcher. We haven’t seen them put together a complete game at their full potential yet, but that could easily change in the WBC Final.
Venezuela (+225)
Team Venezuela punched its ticket to the WBC final after overcoming an early 2-0 deficit against a pesky Italian squad in the semifinals. They rallied for a 4–2 win behind a strong effort from their pitching staff, with Detroit Tigers righty Keider Montero opening the game with 1.1 innings before the bullpen carried them the rest of the way.
In the championship matchup, Venezuela will turn to veteran left-hander Eduardo Rodríguez. The 32-year-old had a very solid 2023 season but has regressed since then. He’s been consistently mediocre of late, posting a 5.04 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 2024, followed by a 5.01 ERA and 1.54 WHIP last season.
Rodríguez has also struggled on the WBC stage, entering the final with a 10.13 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over just 2.2 innings of work. Given those numbers, Venezuela is likely to have a quick hook and lean heavily on the bullpen again. The concern, however, is fatigue: that same relief corps just handled nearly the entire game against Italy.
The challenge ramps up even more when you consider the opponent. Venezuela won’t be facing Italy this time, it gets a loaded Team USA lineup that will be eager to put on a show in front of the home crowd at loanDepot Park in Miami.
That puts added pressure on the Venezuelan offense to keep pace, with stars like Ronald Acuña Jr. and Eugenio Suárez needing to deliver in big spots.

The good news for Venezuela is that it can match the Americans at the plate. Offensively, these two teams are on similar footing. Venezuela’s lineup is deep and dangerous, led by Acuña and Suárez, while Wilyer Abreu and Willson Contreras provide additional pop in the lower third of the order.
Overall, Venezuela ranks fifth with 36 RBIs, just two fewer than Team USA. They’re also neck and neck statistically, with nine home runs, 71 runs scored, and a .271 team batting average, numbers that suggest this championship could turn into an offensive showcase.
2026 WBC Championship Predictions and Betting Pick
Team USA hasn’t played a flawless tournament, but they’ve still reached the championship game with a chance to strike gold. McLean’s shaky first start raised some concerns, yet this time I expect him to look far more settled and sharper on the mound.
His previous outing was the biggest assignment of his career, and now that the nerves have worn off, he should be in top form. If McLean delivers a quality start, that should give the USA offense room to break out. On the other side, Venezuela is likely to approach this as a bullpen game instead of leaning on a traditional starter.
Venezuela’s top arms are strong, but their pitching depth is questionable. They even asked the Phillies about adding Jesús Luzardo for the semifinals, but that request was denied. Expect Venezuela to come out strong early, then wear down as the game moves into the late innings, where the deeper USA lineup can take control and create separation on the scoreboard.
I did take a longshot on Venezuela at +1400 in the pre-season markets and +900 earlier in the tournament, so they’re not without hope. However, heading into the final, Team USA on the moneyline still shapes up as the best 2026 WBC Championship betting pick. The Americans’ superior pitching should ultimately be the deciding factor.
