Kentucky Oaks 2025 Odds and Betting Predictions

Good Cheer (+120)

The opening Kentucky Oaks betting markets give Good Cheer a huge edge over the competition. Through six races, she is a flawless three-year-old from the Godolphin barn in Kentucky.

Good Cheer is a perfect six for six since her debut on Aug. 5, 2024. That dominant performance prompted a transfer from Horseshoe Indianapolis to Churchill Downs.

She went three for three at Churchill Downs, including a 2 ½ length victory in the Golden Rod Stakes (Gr. 2) on Nov. 30, 2024. The impressive results had Cox pointing Good Cheer to Fair Grounds for the Rachel Alexandra Stakes (Gr. 2) and Fair Grounds Oaks (Gr. 2).

The three-year-old cleared by 6 ¼ lengths as a massive favorite in the Rachel Alexandra and then followed up recently with a 3 ½ length win in the best performance of her career in the Fair Grounds Oaks. Good Cheer recorded a career-best 102 speed figure in the race and is peaking at the right time.

After that effort, I don’t think we’ve even seen Good Cheer at her best. On the heels of 59.40 and 100.40 workouts at 5 furlongs, the horse is going strong. There is more to come for her, which could include a Kentucky Oaks win! However, I’m not enthusiastic about drawing the 11th post position.

La Cara (+600)

According to the odds for the Kentucky Oaks 2025, La Cara is the most likely horse to give Good Cheer a scare. Trained by Mark Casse, La Cara enters off a highly promising run in the Ashland Stakes (Gr. 1)!

La Cara battled the girls down the stretch to take the $750,000 Grade 1 event. With a speed figure of 105, La Cara had the stretch for a 1 ¼ length victory at Keeneland on April 7. Owner Tracy Farmer has a good one in La Cara that has the talent and speed in the stretch to upset Good Cheer.

Overall, La Cara has won four of nine races in her career. Prior to capturing the Ashland Stakes, La Cara placed 2nd in the Davona Dale Stakes (Gr. 2) behind The Queens M G by 2 ¾ lengths on March 1. Before March and April 7, there was a noticeable shift in La Cara’s character and form.

In addition to that standout performance in the Ashland Stakes, La Cara dazzled in a 4-furlong workout last week at Churchill Downs. She was timed at 46 seconds in by far the best workout from Kentucky Oaks runners.

If La Cara can continue building on her recent success, she’s going to be a tough customer to beat on Friday! Given her recent form, backing La Cara for your 2025 Kentucky Oaks picks makes a lot of sense.

Quietside (+800)

Despite being on the outside looking in at Good Cheer and La Cara, I wouldn’t discount Quietside’s ability on the dirt. She recently scored back-to-back wins in the Honeybee Stakes (Gr. 3) and Fantasy Stakes (Gr. 2).

In her latest start, Quietside posted a speed figure of 100 and defeated Simply Joking at the wire by ¾ lengths. She dug deep going into the stretch and didn’t give up the lead to a gamely Simply Joking, but it was a close finish.

Overall, Quietside has won three of seven assignments in her career. She finished at least second in six of her seven starts! Before winning the Honeybee Stakes (Gr. 3) in February, she had never recorded a speed reading above 90.

However, in her last two outings, Quietside was clocked at 98 and 100, so we’re seeing improved form here! Jose Ortiz is piloting Quietside, so you can never discard his chances of putting his filly in the winner’s circle.

1. Bless the Broken (+3000)

With the potential for rain in the forecast, Bless the Broken could be the horse that benefits the most! Bless the Broken is only a two-time winner in seven races, but she is peaking and has proven to run well in muddy slop.

William Walden’s filly had a standout showing in her latest start in the Bourbonette Oaks. Bless the Broken registered a 101-speed figure and a 2 ¾ length victory over As Catch Can.

She had a strong run in the Rachel Alexandra Stakes to show 3rd with an 81-speed figure. If Bless the Broken can put it all together, she could win in an upset! It will look like a stunning upset on paper, but Bless the Broken is a much better horse than her 30-1 Kentucky Oaks odds suggest!

2. Five G (+1200)

At 12-1 odds to win, Five G is worth considering if her price holds above +1000. This is a generous line considering her consistency and recent results. Five G placed 2nd behind Quietside by one length in a solid bid.

She led the race out of the starting gate to the stretch before narrowly conceding the win to Quietside. Following the close call, Five G responded with a victory in the Gulfstream Park Oaks (Gr. 2) by 2 ¼ lengths over Anna’s Promise.

With three wins in six attempts, Five G has placed 2nd or won in five straight races. Look for Five G to have her nose in the fray in the final furlong, so she’s worth considering for your Kentucky Oaks 2025 best bets!
