English Premier League Predictions This Week: EPL Best Bets for Gameweek 14

I expected to see much shorter odds for Newcastle against Spurs, so that was the obvious starting point of my EPL picks this week. The atmosphere around Tottenham is quickly becoming toxic, after the team has struggled at the start of the season.

Most recently, the Spurs were demolished by Arsenal in the North London derby, conceded five against PSG in the Champions League, and lost at home to Fulham.

The fans even booed their own goalkeeper Vicario after an early blunder against Fulham, forcing Tomas Frank to defend his player.

It’s really hard to get results under such circumstances, especially against strong teams away from home. That’s exactly Spurs’ next challenge in the EPL, with the team traveling to Newcastle.

The Magpies will be full of confidence after beating Man City and Everton in their last two EPL games. Furthermore, they are very good at home, playing with intensity that Tottenham will find hard to cope with. That’s exactly what happened when the two sides met on the same stadium for a League Cup match that Newcastle won 2-0.

All things considered, getting -139 for the home side is one of the best EPL predictions this week, and I’m happy to take it.

If you ignore the team names and focus on how both sides have played so far in the league, getting +700 for Sunderland against Liverpool is insane. The reigning champions have struggled badly this season, losing 9 of their last 13 games in all competitions.

Beating a relegation candidate like West Ham is not enough for me to believe that Liverpool have turned a corner for good. The Reds now face a much sterner challenge, with in-form Sunderland coming to town.

The newly-promoted side just achieved a remarkable 3-2 victory against Bournemouth after going 2-o down early in the game. The confidence and belief in Sunderland are off the charts, with the team sitting 6th in the league.

The new boys play with discipline, grit, and efficiency that will cause Liverpool all sorts of trouble. They will defend deep, hit hard on the counter, and overload the box at every set piece opportunity. That last part might be critical, as I can definitely see Daniel Ballard causing a lot of problems to a team that doesn’t defend well from dead-ball situations.

Overall, the more conservative choice here would be to back Sunderland +1.5 goals, available at -119. However, I just can’t convince myself to play it safe when the moneyline odds sit at +700, so I’m going all in on Sunderland here.

Man United continue to be inconsistent after beating a solid Crystal Palace side away from home, just a week after they lost against 10-men Everton at Old Trafford. You never know what to expect from Amorim’s side, but beating West Ham is certainly on the cards.

The Hammers are in a dog fight to keep their place in the Premier League. The team had a really nice recent spell with wins against Newcastle and Burnley, combined with a draw against a good Bournemouth team away from home. However, West Ham looked completely toothless against the struggling Liverpool last weekend.

They should have more chances to score against United, but I don’t expect them to take a result. The Red Devils are creating more than enough opportunities and should score multiple times against a West Ham, which should be enough to win.

At the same time, United’s defense is struggling, and I can see the visitors finding the net as well.  Overall, the odds of +200 for a high-scoring home victory are excellent and the best bet for this match.
