Egypt vs. Nigeria Betting Preview – 2026 AFCON Third-Place Odds and Predictions

Egypt vs. Nigeria odds for the third-place game at the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday lean towards the Super Eagles in Casablanca, Morocco. Which team can recover from dispiriting losses in the semifinals?

I’ll analyze the AFCON Third-Place betting odds and give you my prediction for which team finishes on the podium!

Egypt vs. Nigeria Odds and Lines (AFCON Third-Place Match)

These AFCON third-place betting odds are courtesy of Lucky Rebel:

TEAM MONEYLINE SPREAD TOTAL TIE NO BET
Egypt +255 (+200 to draw) 0, +0.5 (-107) OVER 2, 2.5 (-121) +134
Nigeria +122 (+200 to draw) 0, -0.5 (-113) UNDER 2, 2.5 (+100) -176

Nigeria (+122) are the favorites on the moneyline, according to top soccer betting sites, meaning a win in regulation. The Super Eagles have an implied probability of 45.1% to take third place at the Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria has to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss on penalties to the hosts, Morocco, after a scoreless 120 minutes of play.

Egypt (+255) comes back with a 28.2% implied probability. The Pharaohs fell 1-0 to Senegal in the AFCON semifinals. It could be Mo Salah’s last appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Since this is the final game of the tournament, there are no “To Advance” markets. But you can find the rest of the AFCON third-place match betting markets at Lucky Rebel by going to Sports > All Sports > A-Z > International > Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt – Is This Salah’s Swan Song with the Pharaohs?

  • 1st Place in Group B
  • Won 3-1 vs. Benin in extra time (Round of 16)
  • Won 3-2 vs. Ivory Coast (Quarterfinals)
  • Lost 1-0 vs. Senegal (Semifinals)

Egypt continues to be perplexed by Senegal, who won 1-0 on Wednesday, thanks to a 78th-minute goal by Sadio Mane. The Pharaohs have now lost five of their last six meetings with Senegal, and have scored a grand total of one goal during that time.

Egypt was dominated by Senegal, having only 37% of the ball, but they managed just three shots with their counterattacking plan, and forced Senegalese keeper Edouard Mendy into just one save.

Senegal was obviously looking to shut down Mo Salah, who had three unsuccessful dribbles and didn’t manage a shot. This could be Salah’s final Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, although he’ll be at the World Cup this summer. Salah, who has scored four goals in this tournament, will be 35 by the next edition of AFCON. While he is in incredible shape, it has to be considered that Egypt’s best-ever player won’t be there in 2027.

Nigeria – Super Eagles Aim for Another Podium Finish

  • 1st in Group A
  • Won 1-0 vs. Tanzania (Round of 16)
  • Won 2-0 vs. Cameroon (Quarterfinals)
  • Lost 1-0 vs. Morocco (Penalties) (Semifinals)

Nigeria’s high-powered attack was shut down over 120 minutes against Morocco, then struggled in the shootout to lose 4-2 on penalties. It was a cagey affair between the two teams, and none of the star players on either side involved could break free.

After scoring 14 goals in the tournament, Nigeria had 51% of the ball against Morocco, but had just two shots, and one on target. The duo of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman was shut down by Morocco. The Super Eagles’ best player was defender Calvin Bassey, who will miss this game after yellow-card accumulation. He was immense at the back for Nigeria, even knowing that he would miss a potential final. However, they’ll have captain Wilfried Ndidi back, however, after the midfielder missed the AFCON semifinal through suspension.

Nigeria finished third at AFCON in 2019, and they were runners-up to the Ivory Coast in 2023. The Egypt vs. Nigeria odds favor them to make it to the podium once again.

AFCON Third-Place Game Betting Prediction and Pick

My Egypt vs. Nigeria betting pick has to be Nigeria at +122. Motivation will be tough to come by for both sides after disappointing efforts in the semifinals. But Egypt simply doesn’t have the attacking prowess that Nigeria has, and the Super Eagles won’t be as cautious as they were against Morocco.

Salah and Omar Marmoush got no service from their team, which is always a concern with Egypt, and I think that keeps them off the podium on Saturday in Casablanca. Take the Super Eagles at +122 in the Egypt vs. Nigeria odds!
