The Senegal vs. Morocco odds are shaded towards the hosts for Sunday’s AFCON 2026 final in Rabat. Senegal is an experienced team, but they have a major absence to deal with. Can they overcome it and defeat the Atlas Lions?

I’ll dig into the AFCON final odds, looking at key players and how they got here. You’ll get my AFCON final betting prediction when it’s all said and done!

The Atlas Lions needed penalties to get past Nigeria in the semifinals and will now play for the title on home soil!

Senegal (+255) is the underdog with a 28.2% implied probability, and they continued their dominance over Egypt with a 1-0 win. It was their fifth win in six meetings with the Egyptians, and Senegal is also going for their second AFCON title!

Senegal – Can Mane Lead the Lions of Teranga to Victory?

  • 1stPlace in Group D
  • Won 3-1 vs. Sudan (Round of 16)
  • Won 1-0 vs. Mali (Quarterfinals)
  • Won 1-0 vs. Egypt (Semifinals)

Senegal smothered Egypt from the opening whistle, but needed a goal by Sadio Mane in the 78th minute to clinch a 1-0 victory to head to the final. But the Lions of Teranga didn’t let Egypt have a sniff of goal, holding them to three shots, and only one on target.

Mane got another one over on his former Liverpool teammate, Mo Salah, and he now has ten goals in 23 AFCON matches. He is one of four Senegalese players with two goals in the tournament, and while they’re a balanced squad, when the lights are brightest, Mane steps up.

They’ll have a tougher time defensively against Morocco, and a key absence will make their life harder. Captain Kalidou Koulibaly was going to be suspended for the final anyway, due to yellow cards, and also had to leave the game with an injury. Mamadou Sarr stepped up in his place, but he’ll need to play his best game against a talented Morocco squad.

Senegal last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, beating Egypt on penalties. Of course, it was Mane that scored the winning penalty to seal their first AFCON title. Can the Senegalese star do it again? Koulibaly’s absence is a huge blow that might be enough to tip the scales in favor of Morocco.

Morocco – Can the Hosts Win on Their Soil?

Morocco played a tight game in the other semifinal against Nigeria, and even though they outshot the Super Eagles 16-2, they only generated one big chance. But keeper Edouard Mendy was the star as Morocco won 4-2 on penalties.

It was the first game in which Brahim Diaz didn’t score in this tournament, but Nigeria didn’t give him any space, and he was even subbed before penalties due to fatigue. But with no Koulibaly at the back for Senegal, Diaz should find a little more joy than he did against Nigeria. Still, Ayoub El Kaabi, who has three goals in the tournament, has to find a way to create space for Diaz to do his thing.

The Atlas Lions have two factors going for them in these Senegal vs. Morocco odds. They’ve allowed a single goal at AFCON 2025, which is the best in the tournament. They’re also playing on home soil in Rabat, and while Senegal fans will show up, I would think the majority of the crowd would be Moroccan.

Morocco won their lone title in 1976, but is now, seemingly, the best team in Africa. Can they prove it on Sunday?

AFCON Final Betting Prediction and Pick

It pains me to make this pick as Senegal was my AFCON winner betting prediction before the tournament started. But you have to be agile when betting on major tournaments, adjusting your expectations based on what you see.

I’ll make Morocco my AFCON final betting pick at +135 to win their second title, because they have too much going for them. Their defense will do to Senegal what they’ve done to everyone in this tournament.

They’ll go after Mane, because if you can keep him quiet, Senegal can struggle to create elsewhere. Not having Koulibaly at the back will be a massive loss for Senegal, making it hard to stop Morocco’s dangerous attacking players.

If you add the home advantage, the +135 price for Morocco to win in regulation is too good to ignore. I believe they’re more well-rounded from front to back than Senegal, and they’ll bring another AFCON title to their fans, this time on home soil!
