The Community Shield 2026 betting odds suggest that we’ll have a competitive game between Arsenal and Manchester City. This match is sometimes a glorified friendly, but given the bitter battles between these two in the past few years, I expect them to take it seriously.
Arsenal is slightly favored, but they’ve struggled in the preseason so far, while Manchester City are now without Pep Guardiola at the helm. Check out my analysis of both sides and their chances before I share my predictions and best bets for the 2026 Community Shields.
Arsenal vs. Manchester City Betting Odds and Lines
Here are the most popular 2026 Community Shield odds:
| OUTCOME | ODDS |
|---|---|
| Arsenal to win | +155 |
| Manchester City to win | +170 |
| Draw | +245 |
| Arsenal (0) | -115 |
| Man City (0) | -105 |
| Over 2.5 Goals | -110 |
| Under 2.5 Goals | -110 |
The best soccer betting sites don’t have a clear favorite in this one, and I can see why. They are so many questions around both sides, especially in a World Cup year, so it’s hard to separate the two teams. Still, this is exactly what I will try to do here.
If you already have a Community Shield prediction and want to back it with a bet, I recommend Lucky Rebel. The sportsbook offers 200+ markets for this one, including all kinds of props.
Arsenal: What's Going on With the Defense?
Arsenal’s Premier League title last year was built on their immense defense, which is concerning given the pre-season so far. The Gunners allowed three goals against both Borussia Dortmund and Real Betis in the Emirates Cup, most of which very preventable.
The team is making lots of individual errors right now, and defending set pieces has been chaotic.
Missing key players like Saliba and Timber is certainly part of the reason, as well as the slow returns of other team members after the World Cup.
I have zero doubt that Arteta will figure it out, but not for the Community Shield. I expect Arsenal to struggle at the back, which should open the door to Man City’s devastating attack.
On the bright side, Max Dowman and new signing Christos Tzolis have been dangerous so far. They can both create and finish around the box, so Arsenal will be dangerous in this match.
Overall, it feels like the Gunners are behind Man City at this stage of their preparations. They will give their opponents a proper fight, but the odds are misleading.
Man City: A New Era Under Maresca
Manchester City entered a new era when Pep Guardiola stepped down at the end of last season. When a manager of this caliber goes, the club usually struggles in the immediate aftermath, or at least, that’s the expectation.
It’s often the reality as well, but there are exceptions. The most recent one is Liverpool, with the Reds winning the league in the first season after Jurgen Klopp left.
While I’m not sure Manchester City will do the same, it should be a relatively smooth transition. Pep left a strong squad that won two trophies and challenged Arsenal for the title last season, so it’s not like his successor Enzo Maresca has to rebuild. He can rely on multiple world-class players in every area of the pitch.
Furthermore, Maresca is one of Pep’s most successful disciples. His arrival will likely lead to fine-tuning and minor adjustments, as opposed to major rehauls.
The new manager will be eager to start with a statement win against Arsenal, so Manchester City will take this game seriously. The FA Cup winners have also looked much more stable than the Gunners in pre-season so far, winning two games and drawing once.
They should be the favorites in this game, so I don’t think the bookies got the odds right here.
Arsenal vs. Man City Community Shield Predictions and Best Bets
If you’ve been paying attention up to this point, you know where my Community Shield prediction is going. Manchester City are simply in a better spot than Arsenal right now, so backing them at +170 is the sensible choice.
I expected to see something like +120 for them to win based on current state of affairs, so I’m more than happy to bet on them.
I see another good wager, though. Max Dowman showed flashes of his potential last season and added more highlights this summer. He’s playing with swagger, and I expect him to start against City. You can get +115 on him to register a shot on target, which is an excellent option.
I would even throw a small bet on Dowman having two shots on target at +650, but make sure to check the starting lineups before backing any props. If he doesn’t start, don’t bet on his props.
