Best Bets for the Europa League Today, April 30 (With Reasoning)
Here are the detailed versions of my EL best bets for today, April 30.
Nottingham Forest vs. Aston Villa: Over 2.5 Goals (+105)
The All-English semifinal in Europa League should be very interesting. Both Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are on the brink of achieving their goals in the Premier League, so they can afford to focus heavily on the Europa League.
These two also met in the EPL roughly a couple of weeks ago, finishing 1-1 at the same stadium. The game featured a combined total of 28 shots, including 11 on target, so the score could’ve been much bigger.
Overall, both sides have been scoring goals lately, registering 12 in 5 games each in April each. The confidence is high, so I expect chances and an attacking mindset. Forest will certainly push to get a result at home, while Villa is a dangerous team on the counter.
It’s hard to pick a winner here, so I prefer to look elsewhere. Getting +105 for over 2.5 seems quite high. Sure, it’s the opening leg and the teams might be a bit conservative to begin with. However, as soon as a goal is scored, all hell could break loose, making this one of the best Europa League picks today.
Braga vs. Freiburg: Draw (+240)
I’m not a big fan of betting on draw since a single lucky goal could ruin a perfectly good wager. However, this game has a tie written all over it. Both teams will be desperate to reach the Europa League final, as winning this tournament would be a monumental achievement.
The pressure will be high, so I expect a very tight first leg with limited chances for both sides. The bookies agree with that assessment, as the line for the total is set only at 2.25 goals. It should be a low-scoring affair, in which both teams prioritize safety over risk-taking.
Under such circumstances, both 0-0 and 1-1 are very plausible scenarios for the final score. Furthermore, if the game is tied with 30 mins left or so, both head coaches will prioritize keeping the tie in the balance over going for it with another game left.
That’s why I don’t want to complicate things here: my prediction is that a draw is the likely result here.
