Major League Cricket 2026 Betting Preview: Winner Odds, Predictions, & Best Bets

After a 3-7 start last season and a negative Net Run Rate (-0.518), MI New York eked into the playoffs as a lower seed. They had to scratch and claw down the stretch to even qualify for the 4th spot in the playoffs. Despite struggling in the regular season, MI New York won all three eliminator matches in a stunning comeback.

MI New York defeated the Washington Freedom by five runs to capture their second championship. Currently sitting with the best odds to win the MLC Championship, there is certainly optimism for another run at the championship. Their roster is a masterclass in T20 balance, blending explosive world-class hitters with elite death bowling.

Led by captain Nicholas Pooran, the overseas contingent feature standouts like Quinton de Kock, Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult, and Rashid Khan. This international star power is supported by a solid domestic core, including USA standout Monank Patel, Rushil Ugarkar, and the experienced Corey Anderson.

They’re coming off a rough first match in 2026 after conceding 245 runs in a rematch versus the Freedom. Although MI New York should be in contention again and bounce back from that loss, Their odds do not excite me. In such a wide-open season, you can find better value elsewhere.

Following a disappointing 2025 season, the Los Angeles Knight Riders overhauled their roster and have a new perspective this year. They finished dead last in the standings with a record of 2-8 and an abysmal -1.320 Net Run Rate.

Still, there is much more optimism for stronger results in 2026. As a result, the Knight Riders’ MLC Championship odds have shortened behind New York. They added several key additions, including pieces from overseas and in the USA.

There were six notable signings by the Knight Riders, including Andre Fletcher, Jason Holder, Alex Carey, Spencer Johnson, Tanveer Sangha, and Rovman Powell. That’s a significant transition from their roster a season ago that lacked any sort of firepower.

The new-look Knight Riders have impressed through their first two matches. They edged away from the San Francisco Unicorns by seven wickets and then blew out the Seattle Orcas by 81 runs this past weekend. With a +2.602 Net Run Rate, they lead in the early stages of the season by a large margin.

At +400, they have fantastic upside for one of the best MLC picks to win the title.

Led by captain Faf du Plessis and legendary head coach Stephen Fleming, the Texas Super Kings possess arguably the most explosive top-order combination in the league.

The 41-year-old du Plessis remains in top form, famously obliterating records in their 2026 opener by smashing a 52-ball 113* to successfully chase down a massive 221-run target. They ultimately defeated the Orcas by six wickets in a strong effort.

However, Fleming’s squad was unable to follow up with back-to-back wins after the Unicorns beat them by seven wickets. It’s likely going to be that kind of year for the Kings. They’ll look dominant at times, but consistency should be their downfall.

The overseas roster is fortified with South African and West Indian talent, including Rilee Rossouw, Donovan Ferreira, Wiaan Mulder, and elite left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein. Their domestic spine is equally dependable, anchored by Milind Kumar and USA national team star Saiteja Mukkamalla.

In 2025, the Super Kings finished second in the regular season with a record of 7-3 and a +1.603 Net Run Rate. I think a couple of teams have gotten stronger, while the Super Kings have plateaued, though.

The primary drawback is their heavy reliance on veteran overseas stars to do the heavy lifting, which can occasionally leave their local bowling depth exposed against teams with deeper pace attacks.

Sitting with a 16.7% implied probability at +500, the Seattle Orcas enter the campaign eager to erase two consecutive years of missing the playoff. The team underwent a major leadership shakeup with Australian star Marcus Stoinis taking over as captain under new head coach Adam Voges.

Last year, the Orcas settled for a 3-7 record and -1.842 Net Run Rate. They had to make some moves to point the organization in the right direction.

As a result, the Orcas possess strong top-order power. In their 2026 opener, opening pair Tim Seifert (who smashed a brilliant century) and Shayan Jahangir set an MLC-record 191-run partnership, proving they can post massive totals like their jaw-dropping 220-2.

Backed by big hitters Shimron Hetmyer and Dasun Shanaka, the batting ceiling is massive. Their bowling relies on a strong South African flavor, featuring high-end speed from Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi, and Ottniel Baartman, alongside domestic bowling staples Harmeet Singh and Cameron Gannon.

However, there are concerns on this roster with the bowling. While their batting can set league records, their bowling unit has shown immediate vulnerability, getting cleanly chased down by Texas and collapsing heavily against the LA Knight Riders (bowled out for just 115).

I’m not excited about laying futures money on them with a lack of efficient bowlers, but if they click at the right time, the opportunity could be there.

Under new head coach Cameron White, the San Francisco Unicorns have built a youthful and dynamic roster geared toward the shifting conditions of American wickets. They are coming off a solid season, finishing 7-3 and a +1.330 in Net Run Rate to grab the No. 3 playoff seed.

20-year-old South African young gun Lhuan-dre Pretorius could be the difference for the Unicorns this season. Pretorius has set the tournament on fire early, smashing consecutive half-centuries (58 against LA and a match-winning 69* to handle Texas).

Captain Matthew Short leads a highly versatile international core featuring Finn Allen, Aaron Hardie, and Indian spin legend Ravichandran Ashwin, alongside the solid pace of Haris Rauf. They have a brilliant blend of elite young talent and veteran composure which should carry them far.

The main risk lies in their middle-order adjustments. The team needs to integrate late-replacement South African batter Connor Esterhuizen for a resting Cooper Connolly, which can occasionally leave their middle-overs scoring rate highly dependent on Short and Hardie.

Still, the Unicorns might be worth buying to win the MLC Championship at +500 as one of the better underdogs.

The Washington Freedom hold the longest odds on the board, giving them a 15.4% implied probability of winning the 2026 title. However, calling the MLC 2024 champions and 2025 finalists the “worst” team is a misprice by the market, making them a decent option.

Coached by Ricky Ponting and captained by Aussie legend Steve Smith, the Freedom are a tactical powerhouse. Their overseas talent is elite, featuring explosive batting from fellow countrymen Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, and Mark Chapman.

On the bowling front, they boast arguably the most lethal pace pairing in the league with Lockie Ferguson and Andrew Tye. The domestic core is just as dangerous, anchored by USA star Andries Gous and Australian-born domestic all-rounder Mitchell Owen, who just turned heads by smashing a record-breaking 155 off 68 balls.

They’re off to a 1-1 start this season, including a 30-run win in the rematch versus New York. It was a nice rebound for Washington following a five-wicket loss in the season opener against Seattle. They have the batting prowess to do more damage in 2026 but likely come just shy of the ultimate goal again.

That said, the Freedom shouldn’t have the longest odds to win the MLC Championship.
