- The final table for the World Series of Poker main event is set to kick off on July 15 in Las Vegas.
- Leo Margets is the first woman to join the final table for the first since Barbara Enright finished fifth in 1995.
- Margets, from Spain, now has a great chance to become the first woman ever to win the WSOP main event, and the $10 million first-place prize.
Leo Margets made history at the 2025 World Series of Poker main event. She is the first woman to make it to the final table since 1995, a span of 30 years.
The one-time WSOP bracelet winner could make even more history this week if she becomes the first woman to ever win the Main Event.
Margets Enters Final Table Fifth in Chip Count
The World Series of Poker Main Event kicked off on July 2 at the Horseshoe and Paris in Las Vegas, and now we’re down to the final nine players. These nine managed to make it through out of over 9,000 poker players. But one player stands out, as Margets is the first woman in 30 years to make it to the final table.

Margets had longer WSOP main event 2025 odds than most of the big names, but she stands on the cusp of history now. The 41-year-old from Spain will be fifth in the chip count heading into the final table on Wednesday, and she is no stranger to success at the WSOP.
Margets won the $1,500 No-Limit Hold ‘Em Closer event in 2021, winning a career high of $376,850 and a coveted WSOP bracelet. She also competed in the Main Event in 2021, finishing 452nd to take home $26,700. In total, the Spaniard has 33 total cashes at the WSOP, winning over $1 million at poker’s biggest event. Margets has also won over $2 million in total in her career.
The Barcelona native is the first woman since Barbara Enright in 1995 to make it through to the final table. Enright entered that table in sixth place (out of six) in chip count, but managed to finish fifth to cash in for $114,180. The California native was inducted to the Poker Hall of Fame in 2007, and was the first female poker player to do so.
Margets could be the next to make history, and a $10 million win at the 2025 World Series of Poker final table could set her path to the Hall of Fame!
Can Leo Margets Win the World Series of Poker Main Event?
Margets could absolutely win the main event! She is right in the middle of the final table in terms of chip count, and if she gets off to a hot start, who knows what will happen. She has about half the chips of leader John Wasnock, but Margets has been playing competitive poker since for a long time. Her first cash was in May 2008. She’ll also have a lot of support on her side.
Nerves could get to her, given the attention that her story is getting. But Margets is a veteran and when she settles down (if she even needs to), she’ll be fine. The final table will end sometime on July 16, so we’ll know soon if poker history has been made by Leo Margets!
