Buffalo is one of two sizable NFL division betting favorites at -155, but they had their five-year streak atop the AFC East snapped by New England, who enters at +145.
According to the bookies, it’s a two-team race at the top of the division as the New York Jets are +3000, and the Miami Dolphins are even further away at +4500.

Indianapolis won eight of their first ten games, then dropped seven straight after their bye week and enter this season at +375 to win the division. Tennessee offers some decent value at +900.

The Bears are next at +325, and Minnesota are bottom at +475. However, the NFC North looks like it’ll be, top to bottom, the toughest division to win!

Philadelphia have now won the NFC East in three of their last four seasons, and the NFL division odds are tipping them once again at +140. But Dallas is hot on their heels at +190 as they look to keep the Eagles from repeating.
Washington is looking for a bounce-back season, but NFL betting sites have them at +475. The New York Giants are set at +575.

The NFC North could be the best division in the NFL. The NFC South could very well be the worst. Carolina won with an 8-9 record, the second time in four years that the NFC South was won with a record below .500. However, the oddsmakers have the Panthers at the bottom of the division, albeit only at +350.

Tampa Bay is favored at +205, followed closely by New Orleans at +250, and Atlanta at +300. It appears as though it’s going to be close, but I don’t know how entertaining it’s going to be to watch.

Seattle are the defending Super Bowl champions, and they won the NFC West last season. But the Seahawks are priced at +225. The Los Angeles Rams, like Buffalo, have minus odds to win their division at -155.
San Francisco battled injuries all last season, and have more entering the 2026 season. But the 49ers are listed at +375. Arizona is way back in the rearview mirror at +12500.
AFC Division Favorites
Of the top favorites in these division odds, none won their division last season!
AFC North Favorites
-
- Baltimore Ravens (+100)
- Cincinnati Bengals (+165)
In terms of talent, Baltimore and Cincinnati are clearly the top two teams in the AFC North. But they were last year as well, and Pittsburgh won with Aaron Rodgers and a 10-7 record.
Injuries decimated the Ravens and Bengals last season, and health is huge for both teams, particularly at quarterback. Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow are both top-five caliber quarterbacks, but Jackson played 13 games last season, and Burrow played eight. I think these odds should be even closer, perhaps tied, so I have Cincinnati as offering value here.
AFC East Favorites
-
- Buffalo Bills (-155)
- New England Patriots (+145)
The Jets and Dolphins are bad, and Miami looks like they’re actively trying to be bad to get a top pick in the 2027 draft. That leaves Buffalo and New England.
In good company. 😁 pic.twitter.com/38ePO5SES6
— Buffalo Bills (@BuffaloBills) August 18, 2026
The Patriots had one of the easiest schedules in the league last season, and it’s tougher this year. But the Bills still have Josh Allen under center and the defense should be better. New England holds the value, but Buffalo is favored for a reason.
AFC South Favorites
-
- Houston Texans (+135)
- Jacksonville Jaguars (+200)
The Texans’ NFL division odds are based solely on C.J. Stroud, who didn’t take the leap many expected. However, Houston had the league’s best defense.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville is one of the toughest teams to handicap. Are they the team that started 5-4, or the team that won their last eight games? Figuring that out will be the key to deciding if there is value in Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars’ odds.
AFC West Favorites
-
- Kansas City Chiefs (+180)
- Los Angeles Chargers (+185)
- Denver Broncos (+275)
I had to include the Broncos as the AFC West odds are too close to call. Can the Chiefs bounce back with a healthy Mahomes? Will offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel unlock Justin Herbert for the Chargers?
Can the Denver defense be as good as last season, and can the offense catch up to it? If you can answer these questions, you’ll have a proper evaluation of these teams.
NFC Division Favorites
In the NFC, only one of the top four favorites won their division in 2025-26.
NFC North Favorites
-
- Detroit Lions (+150)
- Green Bay Packers (+275)
I’ll just take the top two favorites, although all four teams are between +150 and +475. It’s all about health in the NFC North, and the Lions and Packers got hit hard last season, leaving the door open for the Bears.
The Lions, on paper, should be favored with their explosive offense. But I have questions about their offensive line. The Packers will get Micah Parsons back from a knee injury as some point, but Jordan Love is under pressure to take Green Bay to the next level.
NFC East Favorites
-
- Philadelphia Eagles (+140)
- Dallas Cowboys (+190)
The NFC East favorites are all about the infrastructure. Philadelphia has had their issues, but they’ve still won back-to-back division titles, and they just won a Super Bowl two years ago.
Everybody who called Jalen Hurts “mid” needs to watch this.
The Eagles just dropped helmet cam footage from red zone practice. This is what he actually sees.
Coverage disguised. Bodies everywhere. Window open for maybe 0.4 seconds.
He finds Goedert. Touchdown.
Play QB from…
— Eagle Times (@_EagleTimes) August 18, 2026
Meanwhile, the Cowboys have high hopes as they always do, and they invested in improving their defense. But I think they’re overpriced right now because I just need to see it.
NFC South Favorites
-
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+205)
- New Orleans Saints (+300)
Like the NFC North, the South is a close race, so I’ll just take the top two, although it’s not because this is a good division. Tampa Bay is the prohibitive favorite, but Baker Mayfield has lost Mike Evans, although he still has Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin Jr. But will the defense be better?
New Orleans won four of their last five to end last season, and things are looking up for the Saints with Tyler Shough under center. But I don’t know how real that end-of-season form was.
NFC West Favorites
-
- Los Angeles Rams (-125)
- Seattle Seahawks (+225)
The Myles Garrett trade has vaulted the Rams up the Super Bowl 61 odds, and they sit atop the NFC West at -125. The Rams might also be getting Aaron Donald back out of the retirement. But will Matthew Stafford’s back hold up?
The Seahawks are +225, and might feel slighted by all the attention given to the Rams. Can Sam Darnold have another good season, and will they miss Super Bowl MVP running back, Kenneth Walker?
NFL Division Sleepers
Here are my top sleepers to watch this year in divisional races. Is there value to be found?
AFC Division Sleepers
-
- Indianapolis Colts (+375)
- Las Vegas Raiders (+1500)
The Colts were rolling last season, even moving up the Super Bowl odds. Then Daniel Jones got hurt, and their season fell apart. But Jones is back and healthy, and it’s not like any team in the AFC South is a juggernaut. I could definitely see a world in which the Colts win the division if they can keep Jones on the field.
Now, hear me out on the Raiders. Their NFL division odds offer fantastic value, and while Kirk Cousins will likely start, Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza should take the job at some point. There is talent at the skill positions, led by Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty. If injuries hit the rest of the AFC West, who says the Raiders can’t make some noise?
NFC Division Sleepers
-
- Minnesota Vikings (+475)
- New York Giants (+575)
The Vikings’ NFL division odds rest heavily on Kyler Murray’s shoulders. The quarterback was run out of Arizona, but he’ll have all sorts of weapons with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Juuan Jennings. The defense is very good. If Murray is even above average, the Vikings have a shot in the NFC North.
Head Coach Kevin O’Connell has announced Kyler Murray as the #Vikings starting QB. pic.twitter.com/8wTn8ylc24
— Minnesota Vikings (@Vikings) August 11, 2026
The Giants were decimated by injuries last season to Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, and Cam Skattebo. If they can keep those three on the field, the Giants could go a long way under new head coach John Harbaugh, who has a terrific resume from his time in Baltimore.
2026-27 NFL Division Winner Predictions and Best Bets
Here are my official NFL division winner picks for the 2026-27 season.
AFC North Winner Prediction
I’m taking the Cincinnati Bengals in this spot at +165, as they’ve had horrible injury luck in recent years, and that has to change at some point. Baltimore and Pittsburgh have lost their long-time head coaches, John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin. Cleveland is just a bad football team. So, snag the value with the Bengals.
AFC East Winner Prediction
There is value with the Patriots, but I think the division is Buffalo’s to lose with Josh Allen at the helm. I think their defense will be better, and even though they have a new coach in Joe Brady, he has been with the Bills since 2002, so he knows the system.
AFC South Winner Prediction
I’ll take Jacksonville to repeat at +200 here. I don’t think the Jaguars are a 13-win team, but double-digit wins are definitely on the table. If Trevor Lawrence plays close to how he played during the second half of last season, I think he’s better than C.J. Stroud, and that’s enough to get the Jaguars to the top of the AFC South.
AFC West Winner Prediction
The Broncos offer a nice return at +225, and I think they have what it takes to win the AFC West. I have questions about the rest of the division. But Bo Nix is back and healthy, and has another target in Jaylen Waddle. The defense is terrific, and they’re a well-coached team.
NFC North Winner Prediction
You can feel good about picking any of these four teams, but I’m going with Green Bay at +275. They’re a balanced team, and Jordan Love is underrated. I also love their schedule in that the Packers have four of their five games are at home.
NFC East Winner Prediction
I’m trusting the infrastructure in Philadelphia, although Jalen Hurts has to step up without A.J. Brown. Their defense is the best in the division, and they’re a veteran team that knows how to win. If you think Dallas wins the division, you’re putting a lot of trust in a defense that was awful last season. They’ve invested in it, but we’ll see if it works.
NFC South Winner Prediction
I do think the NFC South winner will at least have a record above .500, but not by much. I really want to take Atlanta, but I can’t trust either Tua Tagovailoa or Michael Penix Jr. under center. I have questions about every other team in the division, so I’ll take Carolina to repeat at +350, just for the odds. Bryce Young doesn’t have to be an MVP. He just needs to be above average.
NFC West Winner Prediction
The Rams are the easy pick, but I’m taking Seattle at +225, simply because Matthew Stafford is 38 years old and has a bad back. I’ve seen Sam Darnold be good for two straight years under different offenses, and the Seahawks have a great defense.
